QuestionDo these speakers connect via plugs or bare wire?I'm replacing the speakers in a 13-year-old Sony Entertainment Center. These are wired, and connect via stripped wire to spring clips on the back of the speaker. Do the Yamahas also connect via bare wire, or do they have some sort of plug / connector?

- Answer The subwoofer accepts both hi-level (speaker wire) and low-level (RCA cable from receiver SUB output), so either can be used.

- Answer You would need to buy a receiver! Yamaha has several of them on the market. Attach the speakers to the receiver and use a HDMI cable to your TV.

- Answer Do not let the small form factor fool you- I played Led Zepplin celebration day through these and the sound quality was really nice!!! I also use them for 4k movies and pc games. For the price, these speakers are worth it.

QuestionCan humans hear over 20kHz?

- Answer Humans can not hear over 20khz however when selecting a speaker and the specs say 22khz or even 40khz that is important. Frequency response tapers off toward the bottom and top of the claimed frequency range. It starts low and slopes upward to a plateau and then up high it slopes back down from a certain point to the top number claimed. If the speaker responds to 20khz, it actually starts to drop off before that. Sometimes well before that. Same for low end. It they claim 60 hz on the low end, you actually get more like 80hz because of the low end tapering off the lower the frequency. If you want it to reproduce that 17-20khz youll want to shoot for a 24khz+ response so that the speaker is sounding optimally at 17-20khz before the slope. I would go for a speaker that responds from 50-24000 hz before I'd go for a 80-20000 hz speaker.

Questionhow do i increase the volume? it maxes out at 16.5 and its very hard to hear talking scenes, i was also wondering why my surround sound speakers and center speak dont play, but only my left and right front ones do?

- Answer I believe your receiver is to small these speakers require 45 watts minimum I experienced the same problem with my 300 watt receiver I have to turn it up 240 to get good sound I am currently researching a larger receiver. these are the best sounding surround speakers I've ever owned my last set of yamaha's lasted longer than than 8 years. I hope to replace my receiver soon to enjoy all the available wattage of this system

- Answer No you need a receiver for these speakers, it comes with 5 speakers and a bass plus some wire but not enough to fully wire up a true surround sound system. So I recommend you getting more wire. Again you want an instant plug in and use now speaker buy a sound bar.

- Answer It all depends on the tv you have but with this particular set up you'll most likely have to run them through a receiver, because it has a center speaker and bass with 2 forward, and 2 rear speakers. If don't want to by a receiver I recommend a sound bar that matches your tv, because some models don't work with certain tv's.

- Answer Yes, the speakers will work with the specified receiver. These speakers are an upgrade from the previous SC-A76 speakers.

- Answer I believe the box says the speakers can take up to 700watts or amps which ever is smaller? So a 500amp/watts would be just fine
