Do Not Buy NETGEAR

Netgear is a horrible company and while some of their products are okay I would stay away from their routers and modems.
I replaced this item 4 times (I bought the GS warranty) and finally went with another brand.
If you have issues Netgear requires you to give your CC info in the event your issue is your fault (and it WILL end up being your fault) even if the unit is STILL UNDER WARRANTY! You have been warned.
I wish someone had warned me. Don’t believe the good reviews it gets. Instead, do some research and check it out- Reddit has some nice horror stories about it.

I was paying for a modem/router combo rental. Purchasing this eliminated that rental cost from my bill. Also, I was already using a seperate Google router, so it made no sense for me to continue renting the modem/router combo from xfinity.

Despite the positive reviews, do NOT buy this modem. It worked great for two weeks and then stopped being able to effectively connect to the internet- the upstream and downstream lights kept flashing and the internet would drop about every ten minutes. Contacted Charter/Spectrum and Netgear. Netgear technical support seems to be overseas and was less than helpful. Rebooted, performed factory reset but when reconnected my old modem everything worked fine- albeit the speeds were slower. Netgear wouldn't replace it and Best Buy won't let me return the item. Spectrum/Charter verified that the modem was the problem and allowed me to rent one for free. It might not be as fast as this one but at least it works!!!

Netgear CM1200
Very disappointed.
Upgraded from my old 2016 cisco modem to get higher speeds (above 150mbps).
It worked well for 72hs. After that, speeds began to drop to zero. After resetting it would work for a while and then back to zero.
Went back to my old 2016 CISCO and everything went back to normal.
Returning.

dropped signal ALL the time and had to be reset near daily. unless if ethernet ports are an absolute must, the Arris surfboard is a much better option as far as docsis 3.1 modems go.

For some reason every netgear product we've had stopped working after 2 yesr. The ports just give out. We had to change to ASUS.
The store employees & experience, however, were fantastic.

I can't express the amount of disappointment & frustration I experienced with this product. I bought this product and after unsuccessfully getting it to work, then spending a looong time on the phone with Xfinity & Netgear they decided the modem was defective. So I returned it and got a replacement. Again, lots of time & frustration, I returned the second modem because it would not connect either.

Don't buy this model if you have Xfinity

I needed to upgrade my modem recently, so I found this model. It was compatible with Xfinity and stated "Multi-gig" with speeds over 1 gig.
However, after 2 months, Comcast is telling my modem is not supported for speeds over 800 gig and I can't upgrade to unlimited data plans. And it's too late to return or exchange. That's over $200 down the drain. I'm so mad - I feel tricked and misled. I don't know why Netgear is still selling this model.

Worst purchase EVER! It was defective from the start, Netgear service was HORRIBLE. They kept insisting the product worked and that it was my internet provider. I had to go back and forth with them so many times over the months, that the Best Buy return window closed, so the store wouldn’t help me either! I had to have my cable company come out and prove the lines were working, and ended up having to rent a new modem from. I spent over 200 for nothing. AWFUL.
