Customers highly value the Smart Tank Plus 651 printer for its excellent print quality and ease of use. Many appreciate its overall performance, finding both the printer and scanner to work well, and they also note the simple setup process. While the printer is praised for these features, some users have experienced connectivity issues, and a few consider the price to be a drawback.

Unfortunately, this printer did not work well for me, The ink would have been so much less, I really wanted it to work out. It was a little more complicated to set up than other HP printers I have owned. But not too complicated by any stretch. The printer does not automatically print on both sides of the paper which was a bit disappointing for a printer that cost this much. The problem I ran into with mine was after waking from sleep then either scanning or copying, the printer would start to scan and then go into neverland. Only unplugging and plugging in would fix. Returned and got a more traditional HP printer and it works great -- at much greater ink cost of course.

Great print quality - phantom jams

Incredible print quality. It's been struggling with "jammed" pages lately, but no jam. Maybe the paper is a bit cheap, but I don't think it wasn't the cheapest paper. Anyway, generally good, will have to see if the phantom jams become a repeated problem.

I love this printer. It was so good that I bought one for my wife's office. Dependable and color is excellent, although we are mainly a black and white couple. Highly recommended

The printer does not scan, as was promised. So I've had to go to HP help and have them install the necessary software. Not a pleasant overall experience. The printer does print well, if it takes too long to go through the process.

This is a great printer so far. I purchased this because my other printer always cost me over $100 to get XL ink every few months, because i have 3 people in the house printing things. This ink is said to last me 2 years so i figure with the high volume of printing, if i get 1 year i am saving and after a couple years the printer pays for itself. And i bought the one with fax ability but for $100 less you can get the one that doesn’t fax.

I have had many ink cartridge printers in the past and due to the high price for replacement cartridges, I wouldn’t print very often for fear of running out. Then of course when I wanted to print the ink would have dried up. This solved that problem. I can print and print some more and no longer worry about having to go spend $30 or more on more ink.
Isn’t very fast and photo quality isn’t quite as good as my older printers but it is acceptable for the kids school projects. I probably need to figure out how to adjust the contrast and brightness on my monitor to match the printer. The photo quality printing off my iPad is the almost there.
I tried the Canon equivalent and the colors were so faded even on canon photo paper, I ended up returning it a couple hours after I bought it.

Good Printer small paper hopper

So far, the printer seems to work fine. The only issue is that the paper hopper is rather small and does not accommodate very much paper, so you have to refill it more frequently.

I boughty2 of these printers, for my daughters, to be used at their homes. Remote learning has required more printing than prior covid times. These printers work pretty good, but are a little over priced at vthis time.

Colors are not vibrant or crisp. Does not print double sided unless manually fed. Has color tanks v. Cartridges but until you set it up you don’t know that in addition to the color tanks there are printer cartridges too. Which are in a pretty cramped spot. Twice now I had to “reinstall” the cartridges. So although the ink is supposed to last up to two years not sure about these extra cartridges. . We wanted a fairly small printer for counter top but we’ll see.
