Great monitor for the sale price; Issues with Macs

This is a great external monitor to have if you need an external monitor to work from your laptop which happens to be my work setup. I plan on using this for gaming so I cannot really comment on the 60Hz refresh rate and the 5 or 6 ms response time. I read other specs that said that should be fine for gaming as it is the bare minimum of what is acceptable for gaming. If you want a heavy duty monitor for gaming, I'd recommend investing in something else. Now, moving on to the other issue- You should be wary of purchasing Acer external monitors if you are a complete Mac User... Acer does NOT factory test their monitors with Macs- only PC's. Now, for the most part this should not be a huge issue as one could potentially assume that if an external monitor works with a PC then it rightfully should potentially work with a Mac, right? Well, I have found that if you are using this with a Mac, make sure you have a good adapter. I was having connection issues. I was using an HDMI to Thunderbolt CORD as opposed to having an HDMI run from the back of the monitor into an appropriate ADAPTER. I have since switched to an adapter and so far, so good! I have NOT had any connection issues.

My Acer 27" monitor rocks! It has HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs and you can switch between on the fly via the monitor controls. If you are like me who likes to hook up a laptop at times to a desktop monitor (without having to switch wires from the desktop pc) - this is the monitor for you! Also, the display is just amazing. I also play games like Call of Duty, Defense Grids and even hooked up my PS3/Xbxo360 to this monitor. All displayed great with no blur or latency! I run 1920x1080 display - which is great for developer tools like XCode, Eclipse and Visual Studio.
Final note - I picked up this sweetness at $199 on sale! Best $199 I have EVER spent on a monitor! When they go on sale again, I am getting another!
Gorgeous

Excellent 1080p 27" monitor. I bought 2 of these monitors.I have them installed on my desk with a monitor stand. They look very good the color is excellent. Does what I want it to do. The reason for only four stars is, the bezel width is about a 1/3 of an inch. This will cause an unacceptable width between the monitors if you want combine 2 or 3 monitors for use as a single monitor witch i don't. Also there are no installed speakers if you use an HDMI cable. There is a head phone jack on the back of the monitor if you want to install some speakers or you can use the sound outputs on your computer for better speakers. Overall I have very good opinion of these monitors

I have 2 of these monitors. I first purchased one to replace a smaller monitor for my desktop. I hooked my surveillance DVR up to it to see if it looked different than on the 19" Samsung TV it was connected to. The difference was remarkably better. I had to buy a second monitor in order to use desktop/Surveillance system simultaneously. This monitor looks perfect in any application. It even comes with DVI/VGA cords. It is well worth every penny. I have been extremely happy with them and I guarantee you will be also.

I bought this monitor to replace a 6 year old 20" HP monitor for my work computer. The screen size and clarity of the monitor were impressive and working at 1920x1080P was a huge improvement over 1600x900. For 3 months I had been using this monitor with the VGA port. 3 days ago I connected a second computer to it using an HDMI cable as I had to switch inputs during the day to complete tasks on the second computer. Yesterday the monitor flickered and then lost the image and left me with a black/grey screen with vertical bars/lines on it (see image). I had no problems whatsoever using it for 14 hours a day on the VGA connection, but once I started using both inputs, the monitor apparently failed. It's going to cost me $27 to ship it from California to Acer's Texas repair facility for warranty service. While it may be a coincidence that the monitor stopped working once I started using both inputs, I am not sure I will be purchasing Acer products in the future as I was shocked to have a monitor fail so quickly.

I like the clean look, the Big 27" Screen and the great colors. Have it hooked up on my gaming laptop with a HDMI cable. This is not the fastest monitor 6sec, but good enough for my video editing.
This monitor is wall mountable, which is strangely enough not common in the 27" screen size.

I had been thinking about replacing my 23inch Acer monitor for the past six months with a larger one, so when I saw the 27inch go on sale two weeks before Christmas for $169 I just couldn't pass up a deal like that and with free shipping I ordered it online so I wouldn't have to fight the crowds in the store. After owning both an Acer monitor and laptop each for over 5 years I knew their quality.
First let me say there is a big difference from going from a 23inch to a 27inch, this monitor is great, the colors just seem to pop out at you and the picture is beautiful. Some reviewers have said that the screen is a little too bright, I would have to agree but it is very easy to adjust to the way you might like it, I toned mine down just a little. As for setting it up I think it took me longer to get out of the box than it took me to actually set it up and I'm not very tech savvy.
I don't know if BestBuy will put it on sale again for $169 but if they do jump on it, at that price it is a real steal. But even at their other sale price of $199 it is still a great deal for a monitor of this quality.

Great screens for gaming and movies

This is my second screen as I like to watch movies while i play video games. The screens are absolutely amazing. A little tip though, they come standard set on high brightness level.
Just go into yours Windows 10 or Whatever version you have of a screen calibrator, or use screen calibration software and you are good to go. Mine looks better now, than the model they had on display running a demo.
The LED backlit is great and gives precise blacks and whites, these also work great with Nvidias DSR, which is a program where you can run 4K, 1440P, and other resolutions in-between and they downsample it on your screen and it look ridiculously awesome. I usually use 1440 though, because of how small 4K makes all the icons. Of course you can change icon and text size in your PC controls.
The 60hz is amazing and I downsample from 144hz and it has no issues. With these being on sale swipe them up, I got my first one for $250.00 and my second on sale for $180.00 or something.
If you are a gamer and a 4K movie watcher, but don't want to spend the money on a 4K screen or even a 1440 screen, but you want your movies to look better than 1080p and you have a Nvidia 900 series that has DSR support, use it for the desktop not just gaming and you will be amazed.
I can't say anymore about how great these screens are. 27" is perfect as I have one of them hooked up to my PS4 and it looks ridiculous with the extra color range that PC monitors give.
Don't set on the fence and let the price go back up, go buy 2 of them now for your PC, TV, Movies, or Gaming systems.

I really like the size and clarity of this monitor aand for the price I think it is a great deal. The only thing that I didn't realize was it does not have speakers but that was my fault for not asking. I just had to buy a cheap pair of external speakers which actually sound alot better than the speakers that were on my old monitor.

For the price, it exceeded my expectations. There are some subtle drawbacks to the clarity however, nothing that prevents one from using it and being satisfied with it. Was not going to be pay what Apple wants for a Cinema and didn't want something "low-end" either. So, this seems to fit the middle-ground. Use: Final Cut X and photography. Macbook Pro 15", Late 2011 - now use this monitor as a/the primary monitor.

I bought this monitor for gaming. It is a great monitor with very nice color, brightness, and clarity. As far as gaming, I do not see lags. Very easy to install, either using vesa mount or with the included stand. After buying this one, I went ahead and bought another one to place them side by side. BestBuy has those on sale from time to time so keep an eye on it.

I was looking to step up from a ACER 23" monitor and add a third input (previous monitor only has VGA and DVI) as I intend to have two computers and now a security camera system hooked to the same monitor. I was a little hesitant about buying this monitor based on other comments about the washed out HDMI input. I figured I needed to see it in person at the store. Sure enough, of all the monitors on display (most using HDMI inputs) this one was notibly washed out. I tried adjusting the monitor there but it was no comparison to the other monitors. I did notice a lot of the other monitors had glossy screens which I do not like because of the glare. I decided to take a chance and purchase it anyways as I've learned that how TVs and monitors look at the store aren't always how they will look at home. I have to say that I'm very pleased with the display. I have the security system hooked to the HDMI and it looks just as good or better than when it's hooked to the VGA input. Oddly when I have one of the computers hooked to the HDMI, the display isn't quite full size and leaves a 1" black bar around the edge unless I reduce the resolution. I suspect that's a graphics card driver or setting issue. I also read the complaints about the stand. The display model at the store was indeed wobbly but I really snugged down the screws on my monitor and the base seems to be fairly stable, no worse than my previous ACER and comparable to some of the other display models. As with my previous ACER monitor, the menu isn't the easiest to navigate but probably no worse than the dozen or so other monitors I've dealt with recently. My only regret is not buying it one day earlier when the Best Buy website was listing it for $169.

This is my third acer monitor, the other two are over 5 yrs old. I bought this one for a new computer build in preparation for windows 10. I like the wide screen, and the resolution is great. Since this is my third acer I was not concerned about the quality or the durability. My only regret, I wish it had built-in speakers.

Honestly the deciding factor was because the monitor was on sale for $140, but I was pleasantly surprised because the monitor is bright and sharp and the form factor is slim and light. Videos and games works great on the monitor.
