Got this for a young adult who is a heavy gamer, but was looking for something more portable. This is based on his experience and feedback for the gaming aspect. I work in technology so the rest of it is based on my knowledge and experience. Packing: The machine comes in a typical Alienware box without a lot of excess packaging or waste. I enjoy that. Setting Up: Setting the machine up is a breeze. As I expect from a modern machine. Any limitations lie in Windows itself and not the machine. Bloatware: Thankfully, not a lot of that. There is some standard stuff, but easily removable. There are some configuration and customization programs that seem a little extraneous, but they were welcomed by the gamer. Performance: This is where we both agree, the performance is excellent. Without a bunch of worthless programs running in the background the system runs very well. He was up and running Steam within a couple of hours (download of games included). 1. Memory: 32GB of RAM is plenty for most things and definitely for gaming. Very little delay when swapping maps or custom skin creation. 2. Processor: Runs standard apps as quickly as any other machine and games in full screen without hesitations. 3. Screen: The 120Hz screen prevented any ghosting or stuttering and animations played smoothly. Honestly, one of the best laptop screens I've seen. It's 16" which seems small, but is surprisingly good. 4. GPU: This is the money of the system right here. He was thoroughly impressed with the performance on Black Myth Wukong, especially the cinematic scenes with tons of action occurring and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. But he said all the FPS, RPG, and arcade style games ran just as smoothly on this machine as on his desktop (about 3 years old). 5. SSHD: 1 TB has proven to be plenty of space for the time being. It is the one thing you can never have enough of, but definitely a good size for base/installed programs. The external will still be used for secondary storage. The speed has been great with it loaded up about 30%, but SSD doesn't really get cluttered like spinners. 6: Accessories: There are no accessories that come with it. 7: Networking: The wi-fi is connected to a 400MBPS IP through a WiFi6 router and the system uses every bit of bandwidth it can get which has proven to be sufficient. No death lags, no stuttering, and no random drops. Positives: The performance is the standout positive by far. A gaming laptop that keeps up and doesn't get hot is excellent. The appearance is fine, the keyboard works well but bluetooth Microsoft XBox controllers make it secondary for a lot of action/arcade type games anyway. Limited bloatware and easy setup are icing on the cake. Negatives: Honestly, there aren't any negatives either of us have discovered. The power brick is a little large, but it has to be to provide a charge while using the workhorse. Wrapup: I'm always hesitant about Dell machines, but the Alienware is definitely the top of the line for gaming and this machine is no exception. We've thrown every game we use at it and it performed very well. It's not being used as a business machine so I can't speak to how it work for it, but just watching how it chugs through framerates and animations I can't imagine it would have any trouble. I'm not easily impressed, but this machine has impressed me.

    Truly Impressed

When it comes to high-end gaming and video editing, Alienware has been my go-to brand for years, and I was expecting to be blown away by this Gaming Aurora 16’ as I always have with other models. If you are a hard-core gamer, this is going to be ideal if not close to that. Yes, it uses an Intel Core 7, and the refresh rate is “only” 120Hz. Of course, I wish it was Core 9 and 240Hz to make me really happy, but I’ve become more realistic as I age. With 10 cores, 5.2 Ghz, and 32GB of DDR RAM, and a Nvidia RTX 5060 graphics card, there will be very few gamers disappointed. This is a powerhouse. It was hard to notice any artifacts when playing any of the three demanding AAA titles I play most often proving that 120Hz is more than just a great start. Of course, the Nvidia delivering very smooth frame rates and excellent ray tracing is probably the main reason for the great experience. The images are not just clear, but also vibrant. Do I sound like a salesman? Maybe, but I was really impressed. Even at my age (62), I still want the best gaming computer because I still love playing by myself or with my sons and daughters, and eventually with my grandkids when they are old enough. But to be honest, I don’t have that much time for gaming during the week. And here’s where my love for this Asus gets bigger. With all these capabilities, you shouldn’t be surprised that it is excellent for video editing, and you can trust that colors are very accurate, which is a must for this type of work. While not completely quiet, I was surprised at how smooth the fans ran even after hours of playing. It seems to have a great cooling system because temperatures were kept at a decent level for this type of machine. Noise was only noticeable when there was not much going on around the house, but I am used to much noisier gaming laptops. Call me shallow, but when it comes to computers I also care about looks and its sleek, futuristic style with an anodized aluminum build is mouthwatering. It screams premium. Very sleek and portable too. While what I have to say is mostly positive, there were a few things that I was not overly impressed with. Brightness was one of them. When I played in our entertainment room or in my home office, it looked perfect, but when I moved to our patio to do some work, I wished it was brighter. Not too disappointing but it could be better. The other “issue” is the weight if you’re traveling with it frequently. Personally, I don’t want a gaming computer when I’m traveling either for business or personal reasons, but some people may not have another computer. Almost 6 lbs is not exactly lightweight. My overall experience was excellent, and I would recommend it even to the most hard-core gamers out there. Yeah, I’m still dreaming about the Intel 9 core model, but I’m just being greedy and probably not worth the extra cost. This machine runs just about any game or demanding application, and it truly impressed me.

Like my title says, this is a great mid-range gaming laptop. Taking this out of the box, I loved the color theme with this and love that when you power it on, you get the Alienware logo, and it is faded and then a color circle comes around and then it goes white. Setting up was not hard at all, just time consuming. But that is with any pc. A couple things that I did not like with this laptop. My first issue is that they use a few screws on the bottom, so it is not a quick and easy task if you want to take the bottom part off so that you can add another hard drive or more ram or whatever you might want to do. Plus, once you get the screws all out, you have to pry it open. I wish they would add maybe individual covers that can be removed to access different spots, or maybe 1 screw and then pop of the bottom that way. Another issue for me is that, although it has a 1TB Hard drive, it would have been nice to have another. These days, 1TB is not that much. I was also shocked that I did not see a button to open up their software. And no taskbar for their software either. I had to type in search for their command center. I also did not see a button to turn off the touch pad. For gaming I like to deactivate that, so my palm does not hit it. That said, those things were not too big an issue for me and not enough for me to drop this to a 4 star. One of my favorite things with this laptop is that they have all the ports on the left side and back and none on the right side. I also like that it being a 16", it still has the numbers keypad. I have had a couple gaming laptops, and compared to my other gaming laptop, this is way thinner and lighter. This was the same height as just the keyboard part of my other laptop. Way easier to pack and carry around. Gaming: This is not going to be your powerhouse gaming laptop. But it will play all the games you want. Just know that you will have to set some to mid graphics settings. You can get some boost out of this with some playing around as well. But default, I ran COD black ops 6 and graphics I put at balance and ran smoothly with 90 FPS, and this was out of the box and updating the graphics card. Nvidia, you can set suggested settings. Other games like Fortnite ran smooth and well over 100 fps with higher graphics settings. I had no issues with Pubg, Delta Force, battlefield, CSGO, all on medium to high settings with screen resolution maxed and default without tweaking or using Nvidia to set settings for me. The hardest part with gaming for me was just the screen size. I am used to using much larger screens now. Also, the screen is not OLED. Overall, this did not disappoint. Being that the last 2 digits for the gpu are 60, I was not expecting to throw every game at it and expecting them all to run maxed graphics settings. I was impressed with how well it did do being only a 5060. If you do not mind the 16" screen and looking for a nice gaming laptop, this is for you. I just recommend a laptop bag, cooling pad, mouse and headset. Keyboard if you want to plug this into another monitor and use like a desktop. On the cooling, I also like this part of the laptop. The intake vent on the bottom has a cover type piece. I had no issues myself with this overheating while gaming. I used it on a flat surface with a large mousepad under it. The bottom, you could feel a little warm but not hot. But I always still recommend a cooling pad. Even if you are not going to game. Even if you do not use the cooling pad fans, Laptops just do not seem to have long feet under them to raise them, and they tend to vent from the bottom. Even on a flat surface, you have maybe a 1/4 or so of an inch under them. Again, looking for a great looking laptop to game with, I recommend this laptop.

When my Alienware - 16 Aurora 16" 120Hz Gaming Laptop WQXGA - Intel Core 7 240H with 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 - 1TB SDD - Blue Laptop was delivered, I was surprised at how small the box was. When I opened the box I was surprised again. The laptop is smaller than I expected as well, but once opened up it uses it's small footprint very well with a nice large screen, and almost a full sized keyboard that includes an actual number pad. The screen bezels are very small and there is a row of upward facing speakers between the keyboard and screen that does a pretty good job of recreating simple surround effects, and even supports Dolby Atmos. The whole computer gives off a professional classy vibe, and the blue chassis is subtle yet beautiful. The included power brick is big, but not to big, and actually smaller than I expected for a laptop of this level of performance. And I also like the fact that the power cord plugs into the back of the laptop and not one of the sides, its a much cleaner look, and it doesn't get in the way. The keyboard itself is extremely usable, and is tastefully back-lit. The chassis is nice and rigid and I could press very hard on it without it deflecting or bouncing. The track-pad is slightly offset to the left so as to be centered in the middle of the keyboard, and is easily one of the very best/most responsive that I've ever experienced. Very tactile and clicky, and the mouse courser tracked perfectly. I usually use an external mouse when working on most lap tops but found myself not feeling like I needed to with this one. Once I completed the new PC windows update marathon, I downloaded and installed steam and a few of my favorite games and ran some benchmarks. This laptop is a gaming beast. It easily handled everything I threw at it. Modern games like Cyberpunk 2077 ran perfectly with lots of eye candy. I ran a few benchmarks and this laptop almost keeps up with my Alienware I7/RTX3080 water-cooled desk top... often times coming within 5-15 FPS of the bigger more powerful PC. The cooling fans do a great job of keeping the laptop cool and running at peak performance, and they exhaust in a way that they aren't cooking you mouse hand like some other laptops I own do. Overall I'm super impressed with this laptop. Alienware really stepped up their game with this one. It looks clean, classy, and professional, and powers through the newest most demanding games without even seeming to try. It never got hot, and it never got super loud. And the chassis size is much smaller than most 16 inch laptops as well so if you think 16" might be to big, then definitely check out this one because it might change your mind. I highly recommend!

I got this Alienware 16” gaming laptop for my 20-year-old son, who is a serious gamer, and he absolutely loves it. He plays everything from fast-paced shooters to more demanding games with high graphics, and this laptop handles it all without any lag or slowdown. The screen is beautiful—bright, sharp, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes everything look super smooth. The blue color is really sleek and gives it a high-end feel. He says the performance from the Intel Core 7 and RTX 5060 graphics card is top-notch, and the 32GB of memory means he can run games, stream, and multitask with no issues. It’s also got a big 1TB SSD, so there’s plenty of space for his games and files. The laptop does run a little warm during long gaming sessions, but the cooling system seems to keep things under control. Overall, he’s very happy with it, and it seems like a great investment for a gamer who wants powerful performance in a portable form. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone with a gamer in the house!

Alienware, considered the premium gaming computers from Dell, has introduced the Aurora 16 with various setups. I opted to go with the lower end model because I felt it will meet my needs just fine. I don’t need the highest end system, especially when price was a factor in my decision. 120Hz is just fine to the human eye, at least for me anyway. I can’t tell the difference between 120 and 240. Also, the GeForce RTX 5060 performed great while I tested out multiple graphics intensive games and I had no issue running them. Hopefully, it will last a few years and keep up with newer games down the road. For those in ‘the know’, it has been mentioned that the keyboard sits off to the left a bit due to adding the numeric keypad on the right. It took me a short time to get used to it and I actually prefer a numeric keypad over the traditional laptop layout since it is faster to input numbers. The battery life has been great so far when I am using it for general tasks, but I always keep it plugged in during gaming sessions since it helps the overall performance. I really do not have any negative points to mention and my family is happy the Aurora 16.

The 16x Aurora is a more than capable workhorse for the average gamer. its well packaged, very cleanly and very green in mind. The laptop itself is very simple and sleek. I prefer it to much "louder" laptops that have all kind of unnecessary trim add-ons that make it look all "future-y" or whatever. Despite being a gaming laptop which tend to be more beefier, the weight doesn't feel too bad. obviously heavier decent amount of I/O ports/ 2 USB-A, 2 USB-C,HDMI and Ethernet. the headphone jack and 1 USB-A is on the left side, the rest are on the back. I'd have preferred USB C for the power cord, because i'm sick of barrel jacks, but that may just be a limitation because how much power you'd need compared to smaller laptops The display is really smooth, which not surprising because of the 240Hz. won't be able to use that as an excuse when you lose in a game haha. All the specs are more than enough for those getting into gaming or doing mid level games. 1TB SSD is amazing to have because games have gotten so big these days. with 32GB of RAM you'll have no slowdowns. nowadays i can't imagine trying anything with 16GB. While it is only a 5070, it does get the job done. Keyboard has a nice feel and keys are not too loud. The mouse pad is on the smaller side, but that's not really important because if you're gaming you'll be using a mouse. but it does work well if you're just futzing around on the computer. if you're not gaming and weren't planning on using a mouse, probably don't need this computer. its a bit overkill for the price, this is a powerful, feature packed computer that would be great for gaming or graphical work (which will be the primary use)
