I’ve been a loyal Alienware fan for years, but this m18 R2 is on another level. Hands down, the best laptop I’ve ever owned. The 18" QHD screen is massive and stunning, making it perfect for gaming, work, or just binge-watching in style. The 165Hz refresh rate is buttery smooth, and the RTX 4070 graphics card powers through everything I’ve thrown at it. The design? Absolutely gorgeous. It’s bigger, bolder, and prettier than I could have imagined. The metallic moon finish feels premium, and the keyboard is an absolute dream to type on. Alienware really nailed the aesthetic and functionality with this one. What really impressed me was how easy it was to upgrade. I expanded the RAM and storage myself—just pop it open, swap the parts, and you’re good to go. No fuss, no headache. Now this machine is an absolute beast that handles multitasking, gaming, and heavy workloads effortlessly. Performance-wise, the Intel Core 14th Gen i9 and 32GB of RAM (now upgraded even further) make everything lightning-fast, and load times are a thing of the past. The 1TB SSD is already generous, but expanding it was a breeze. If you’re looking for a powerhouse laptop that delivers both beauty and brawn, this is the one. It’s a dream machine for gamers, creators, and power users. Thanks, Best Buy, for carrying this beast—it’s worth every penny!

Love the design on this laptop, and the power and ports were the major selling point for me. As much as I wanted something lightweight and with an OLED screen, I ultimately needed a desktop replacement for the road. Direct USB ports were a must. Most everything went smooth in first hours of use. No problem with hardware, internet was speedy, screen was generous in size, with great external display options too. Direct ethernet port helps with internet speed. Love the design with color customization on keyboard, Alien heads, and slick back port light accent. I would have given this a 5-star experience and recommendation, but it lost one star for two things: the sound randomly popped off on games and Spotify, which I then discovered was resolved but turning off enhanced audio in Windows. When I found and disabled that, there were no more issues. Could have been a Windows software issue. But worse for me was the experience of the Alien FX color customization in the Alienware Command Center. Both of my new Alienware headset and mouse were not showing nor were be able to be customized. After much digging, the only thing that worked in fixing this was doing a complete, tedious uninstall of the Alienware Command Center software and then a new reinstall. No one should have to go through that with a fairly new machine and first party peripherals. Other than the sound and FX customization issues, the performance and experience was great with gaming, internet, and design software. I recommend it, but hope the experience is a bit more solid out of the box, with the killer laptop beast that this is.

It’s big, it’s heavy, and it’s a powerful solution for gaming, video editing, photo editing, and everything you would need in a computer. It is also more upgradable than most other notebook computers these days. Temperatures are staying under 100 even in long gaming sessions with World of Warcraft on nax settings.

    Awesome laptop…. But damaged screen

Beautiful laptop. Runs great. Screen has a line from top to bottom out of the box. Other than that linewill be returning this laptop for a new one. It runs way cooler than the 16 because of the size and the two extra vents out of the rear. 2nd strike for Alienware. I’ve always wanted an Alienware laptop as a child now I’m starting to wonder if I should jump ship. Their laptops are beautiful I’m trying to make this work out but… the m16 was a return for broken GPU thermal fan. The m18 is going to be a return as well. Will post an update review for the 3rd Alienware laptop in less than a month.

I was unable to get the laptop up and functional as the drivers were missing to operate it. The tech found that out while looking into the bios to find a majority of them were not in the system. He told me I could download them myself if I wanted to! I told him the for the price I paid for a new computer it should be operational even if it was an open box! I returned for a refund. Misleading info on description stating it had been checked and was certified! Bought an UNOPENED NEW from Dell, that is the picture on this review. It's a 5 star yes for the computer and 1 star for the purchase experience!!!!!

It's a great computer. It is huge and heavy, so this is not a portable laptop at all. The customizability of the lights adds to the appeal in my optinion. I have noticed that because the graphics and processor are so advanced, some games wont launch (i.e. The Sims 3) without patches, so something to keep in mind. Per global reviews, the fans are indeed loud and push a lot of heat. If you get a cooling pad, that should ease the frequency of the internal fans as the pad fans tend to be quieter and are constant. The battery complaint is also true, it does drain fast, though I just keep it plugged in. Withiut taxing games or apps, the battery is fine. I would recommend it for a high performance laptop.

    Good option for Unreal 5

Bought this laptop so I could run and Develop on Unreal 5. So far here's what my experience has been; Cons: Windows 11 Home Edition seems like it doesn't play well with Dell / Alienware. I've had instances where the laptop wouldn't boot properly. At this time, I am unable to determine if its Windows or Dell, but seems like Win11 doesn't boot properly rarely on Restart. If anyone seems scared about this, its just, I get to a Windows Blue / Recovery screen, it's not a blue screen of death. There is only 1 HDMI port in the back, be mindful of this if you plan on using multiple monitors. Have a solution for that, there are plenty out there. Alienware will have some software that may notify you while your laptop sleeps, be mindful to shut these notifications off. Including the advertising Microsoft has on Restart for Microsoft360 / GamePass. Pros: Unreal 5 runs fine, even if I'm loading in pre-made game worlds with 8K assets this machine does a fine job of that. Not run any games on it at this point, but with how much power this device has it should run very smoothly. Settings are very easy to adjust, both for Win11 and Alienware features. Storage space is good enough for Unreal, however if you're installing a lot of high resolution assets you'll want a solution to not fill up your harddrive space too quickly.

Very satisfied with this purchase. I can easily run Baldurs Gate 3 and TW Warhammer 3 on top settings with no lag or stuttering

There is no better Laptop than Alienware. This computer is a beast. It's fast!! It's the best computer I've ever purchased. It is beefy with 1 TB SDD and 35 GB RAM. I have upgraded to Win PRO, 3 TB SDD, and 64 GB of 5600 Hz RAM. It will play any game you throw at it. I love this Laptop and will use it as a Desktop as well as a laptop. I would highly recommend this Alienware R2 M18 18" to everyone from the novice to professional that uses it for business or play. Go buy it!!

The machine is amazing; its features make it truly a beauty. It seems like a very good purchase, although I’ve only used it for a short time. Nevertheless, it’s a great product. However, what was disappointing was the service from Best Buy. I paid for an excellent condition, but the machine arrived with some scratches, which was unfair. I received a small refund, but it didn’t justify the condition. Still, it was the best I could get, considering I couldn’t visit the store or had time for exchanges. Even so, everything turned out fine. The laptop is very beautiful.

I waited for quite some time to acquire an Alienware laptop. I had heard so many good things about them. When I picked up the item and began unboxing it, I was genuinely impressed. It felt like such care was put into making the unboxing experience...special. Setting it up was easy, as I'm a tech-savvy gal. The trackpad is in an awkward position in relation to the keyboard. Using the F keys was a bit confusing and opposite compared to past laptops. There have been times when the screen doesn't go to the unlock screen so I can type in my pin. This is very annoying. Even though it is a beast for the current spec standards you may want to see in a gaming laptop, when I've done the most basic of processes or applications, it has sometimes seemed to struggle. Physically, it's not easy to transport because it's a heavy laptop (and battery), so I can't recommend this if you need or want to be more portable or on the go. Some of the ports on difficult to locate and access (most are on the left side or the back). The sound is good. The video quality is good. The keyboard and keys feel cozy - and I do like having a numeric pad. When the battery is about to die, the power button flashes to remind me. Is it worth the money I put down for it? I really can't say yes to that. I have felt a bit of buyer remorse more than a few times. (I did only buy this as my Acer Helios finally died - otherwise, I was happy enough.) I did expect a bit more user-friendly features. Perhaps too much because of the hype. Will I buy Alienware ever again? I don't know.
