Nice Radio - Free 3 Months of SXM Was Deceptive

This radio sounds and looks good. It is very easy to use and it is nice that it comes with an SXM tuner, although the prices is about the same is if you were to buy one separately (and Best Buy still charges separate installation to install the SXM tuner). The Bluetooth works well. The display is a little bit limited compared to some other radios. For example, you cannot change the color and he display only shows the title, station, or artist, but not the clock. The box and website advertised six months of free SXM with a subscription but did not mention that it had to be a paid subscription. It is 3 free months if you sign up to be billed for 3 months of the full access plan. So in reality the three free months will cost $75. It is a nice unit but I prefer the Kenwood I bought for my other car about a year ago and had an SXM tuner installed. That radio has some more features and was about the same price as this when considering the cost of the tuner.

Easy to use interface allows for little to no learning curve to use the radio. Installation was a breeze in to my 2005 STi. Mounted the satelite antenna at the base of my drivers side A-pillar so i could avoid going through my firewall. I placed my microphone at the top of the A-pillar but it gets in the way of my sun visor, but that was an installation mistake on my part, nothing to do with the radio. I may move it to above the rear-view mirror. As far as the radio quality is concerned, it's great. Sound quality is great, plenty of ways to tailor the EQ, you can even control how loud each of the radio sources output by adjusting the dB. One Con that I have for it is sometimes while playing music through bluetooth on my Samsung Galaxy S5 (spotify), there's a brief millisecond pause in the music but i think that's more the phone than the radio since my previous car (which had BT built in to the factory radio) did this too. Also when i track forward using BT, it sometimes restarts the song. Again, I think that's my phone.

Alpline quality, but not user friendly

OK, I've enjoyed Alpine car stereos for years and this one is no exception. Tuner, SiriusXM, Bluetooth, CD, auxiliary and USB inputs allow you to listen to just about any source of music with Alpine's great sound! However the CDE-SXM145BT does leave some big room for improvement. Because they do so much with this little package, it becomes harder to use because most of the buttons have multiple functions, depending on what input you're set to. You will have to review the user manual to get used to navigating around the receiver. It took me several days to realize I could display the SiriusXM channel name! My biggest complaint with this receiver is the display. I primarily listen to satellite and I'm used to the display on the old Sirius Starmate receiver I used for years. The size of that display is about identical to the Alpine CD-SXM145BT. The old Starmate display gave you 4 lines of information, including time, channel name, artist and song names, preset number, etc. Everything was on the display at the same time. The Alpine, however, gives you only 2 lines of display. The top line shows the Bluetooth symbol and approximate battery life of your phone, if it's paired to the radio. The bottom line, in huge font, allows you to cycle through several things by pressing a tiny little button. It can display preset number/SiruisXM channel number, channel name, artist name, info, category and finally the time. There's no reason at least the time can't be displayed along with the Bluetooth and battery symbols. Phone calls made thru the Bluetooth connection are excellent, people I'm talking to don't know I'm using the radio. I haven't yet, however, found an audio adjustment for the phone calls. The receive audio uses whatever sound settings you have selected for playing music via the Bluetooth connection, so it winds up being a little too bass heavy. There may be a way to adjust this, but I haven't found it yet. So yes, I like this radio and I'm happy with my selection. I know there are other receivers out there that offer solutions to my issues but at a much higher price, but the best bang for the buck is still going to be this Alpine CDE-SXM145BT.

I chose this radio because of the Sirius Satellite Radio feature. But it also came with a Bluetooth feature that works excellently. The sound quality is superb, and I used to sell this type of equipment. All around easy to use and it looks good too.

I purchased this radio because I wanted satellite and bluetooth and this had both at a reasonable price. I had it installed by Best Buy in my 2005 F150 and so far this has been an excellent choice. The radio sounds great and I was able to fine tune the sound just the way I like it. Making and receiving phone calls is easy and I have had no issues at all with the sound quality.

This product does everything I want in my car radio. I can listen to satellite radio, local stations both am and fm and can answer my phone at the touch of a button for hands free communication. The sound is crystal clear and the installation was done quickly and efficiently. I am very pleased with the purchase and the results that I have enjoyed since then.

This is the third Alpine stereo I've bought. I've had no problems with any of them and I've installed all myself. This has one of the most complete packages I've bought. It has CD, Bluetooth with a mic so you can use your phone, and don't forget satellite radio which I love too. I would recommend this radio to anybody. Good price to for what you get.

In comparison to my 9 year older but twice as expensive Alpine CDA9886, I'd say the new one hits harder than the old, the speakers aren't as clear. It also only has one line display while the old has 2 and has a night mode. But I got this one open box for super cheap and being able to use Bluetooth is amazing.

Replaced an older Alpine with this unit for updated Bluetooth, etc. As I was replacing with same brand, installation was a breeze. Once installed and I began using it, I was happy to have the new features and phone support, but the usability is lacking in my opinion. I've an older Pioneer that, while not perfect, is easier to use and has better display options -- including matching the car light colors. Both units were at similar price points. Not to say it's not a bad head unit -- it's just not my cup of tea and I feel there are better options for the money.

I had Best Buy install this radio in my Toyota MR2 Spyder convertible. It sounds great with Top Down, has a lot of power, no amp needed. Satellite Radio works great and is easy to move through stations.

I am really enjoying my new stereo and the sound. I haven't used the Sirus radio yet as I still need to get set up with an account. The blue tooth works great while I am driving and it sounds great through the stereo!

Big improvement in sound over the factory radio. I selected thiis one because of the large multi-function wheel. Simple operation in a bouncy truck. Most of the other radios have many tiny buttons.

Best after market alternative. I phoned my dealer about my 2008 vehicle and now I wanted to add satellite radio after many road trips without it. No factory unit available. Went to Best Buy after scouring the Internet and after a discussion with my wife and the associate, purchased the alpine unit. WOW! I simply love it. Not only did I get satellite radio, it interacts well with apple's Siri and has full Bluetooth connectivity. It also has a USB port to charge my device or for my daughter to plug in her iPod. Feel like it's the best purchase ever.
