The Surfboard is newer than my previous model and upgraded to get higher speeds. It took about 10 minutes from the time I was home to the time it was connected and working on my system. Set up was so easy. I would recommend this low-profile powerful modem. Cheers!

ARRIS Gig-Speed Cable Modem - Amazing Product!

I've never used Arris products before until now, so I didn't know what to expect (despite the great reviews). Initially I bought this to go with my tp-link deco mesh routers, and they did work together. However, I learned that it is not ideal to mix brands (even though each website said they were compatible with one another & my ISP). I live in a 61-year-old multi-level home and the layout is full of walls/barriers for good wifi reception. Although this cable modem works amazingly well combined with a different brand of routers, I did end up purchasing a set of Arris mesh routers to go with this. Now, it works perfectly! The product itself is very lightweight, which causes issues when connecting a coax cable to the back. The coax is heavier than the modem, causing it to move in whatever direction the cable moves. That makes it a little inconvenient, but it's workable. Otherwise, it's really simple to hook up and get going. Download the app and set up will take you no time. *Beware, there isn't a full owner's manual for this in the box, just a quick start guide. If you want more detailed info, you'll have to get it online. Likewise with the specifics of the Surfboard app. *Also, do realize that this is a modem only, not a modem/wifi router combo. This will NOT give you a wifi connection throughout your home without a wifi router. I would certainly recommend this modem.

WAY better than the Spectrum modem.

Works flawlessly with Spectrum 1GB service. Was able to get it setup quickly and it cut my ping in half, AND increased my internet speed from ~600mbs to nearly 900 with NO other changes. This is far superior to the modems Spectrum sends. I upgraded to this one because it is one of the very few listed as compatible with Spectrum that does NOT have the Intel PUMA chipset.. with its known issues. So far this was a very good move.

Great Modem. I have my own wireless router so I had no reason to purchase or rent the panorama wifi gateway from my provider, COX. If you buy this you will need to contact customer service and have the MAC address and SN of the device ready. These are listed on the device but also on the cover of the owners manual to make things a little easier. Once CS has this information they'll be able to allow your modem on their network and once it reboots, it might reboot again if it needs any firmware updates. Not that this is for DOCSIS 3.1, so works for Gig speeds; you won't need this for any lower package, a 3.0 will work for that. This guy's not cheap, but it's the best you can buy IMO.

Rather than pay a monthly fee to rent a modem from the cable company, and because I wanted fast, reliable uploads and downloads, I discussed my options with the Best Buy sales folks, read reviews of products by various companies, and selected this model. This unit is certified for use with my internet provider's system, and was very easy to set up. I purchased a separate wifi transmitter; and since it's plug and play, just let the modem do its thing talking to the provider's system. I did need to consult Best Buy staff plus the provider's staff with questions; they walked me through the process. Actual time to set everything up and connect was only about 20 minutes. Knock on wood, it's working fine, with only a few brief interruptions in connection which I assume was caused by the cable company's side of the system.

An amazing modem with incredible speeds! I have connected to an Ampli Alien router and let me tell WOW! Most folks who not up to date on all the Wi-Fi 6 business will miss on exactly what modem is capable of. A 3.1 DOCCIS Modem must be used with a WI-FI 6 capable router in order to get your 1 giga bit speed’s assuming you’re paying for that level. Unfortunately, I had to return mine because my modem’s in my bedroom connected to my gear the thing puts out a lot of light, I found myself putting it in a shoe box every night LOL! That being said highly highly RECOMMENDED!!

I upgraded from my old SB6190 (I think that was the model), which was over ten years old and had very unstable upload speeds—DOCSIS 3.0 is definitely outdated technology. This SB8200 uses DOCSIS 3.1, and now my download and upload speeds are rock solid. The heat dissipation is also better than some online reviews suggested.

Only had this for about a month, but so far, I have had fast internet, with no issues what so ever. My speeds are noticeably faster; however, I also upgraded my internet download speed at about the same time that I switched to this modem. I have not used the second ethernet port on the back, all items are connected wirelessly through a separate router. Heaviest traffic at my house is two HD movies streaming at once with 6 cells going at it with games/social media, 2 working laptops and 5 other wireless devices that either download music or news. No issues everything runs top notch, my Xfinity download package is the 800 MB

The set up was easy. It’s the internet provider that makes the process difficult. We were changing out the internet provider’s modem. This is a very suitable modem for the internet package we have.

ARRIS - SURFboard 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem My previous cable modem died and I was forced to get a replacement. I decided to try to future proof my purchase going with a DOCSIS 3.1 modem even through that standard isn’t wide spread yet. This modem has 2 RJ45 input ports but unless you have 2 IP’s supplied by your internet provider you can’t use both input ports for faster speeds and bandwidth. The speeds I get max out the tier of service I’m presently on and with the ability of going to a higher tier in the future I should be set for a while. The modem does get hot, mine is in the basement so it should be too much of a concern. I might add a computer chassis fan for cooling since that is what probably caused my old modem to fail. I’m a firm believer in separate modem router setups. The modem/router combo units can supply better use of space but also less flexibility and less ability to upgrade in the future without replacing the whole unit. Overall I’m satisfied with the modem but it is over priced.

Installation was a easy although I had to call the cable company so that they can set it up on their end. The service has not dropped and the steadiness of the modem has been great. I have this paired with a Google Mesh. This was a great buy for the price. It was my own "non research" but the two ethernet connections in the back were more about connecting it to two separate routers and not the same router.

I purchased this modem so I could take advantage of my cable company offering of 1 gig down (thank you Wowway), I was on the fence about this one or the Motorola cable modem; I selected the Arris Surfboard for one reason and one reason only. This amazing modem had 2 Wan ports I could use so I can have 2 separate home networks with different internet access. It works like a charm and I have my Control4 system utilizing 1 Wan port while I have my primary network work over the 2nd Wan port. The speeds of 1 gig support are accurate as I usually max out. I'm very happy with this modem, it doesn't get as hot as everyone says it does and I'm running both Wan ports.

Like others, I'm getting ready for the next wave of technology and speed improvements. So, I swapped out my older Arris model 6183 for this newer docsis 3.1 model, and saw an immediate and significant increase in my Blast internet speed. I can't believe there was ever a day that I put up with buffering. Unlike my last modem or two, I was able to activate this one just by opening my browser and filling in the required info. After rebooting it once, I was up and running in less than 15 minutes. Kudos to both Comcast and Arris for continuing improvements in technology. Bring on the high speed internet.

Who says that you need a modem from your Internet provider. With a little research, you can find the correct modem for your internet service. In my case the ARRIS SURFboard 32, DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem was the correct one for my Gigabyte service. Paired with my Linksys MESH router, I'm getting great internet speeds. The modem was very easy to setup. You need to mark your cables that you remove from your old modem for match up with your new modem. You also will need to call your provider for registration of the modem. With the right setup you should immediately see the improvement. BTW, DOCSIS 3 is required for gigabyte routers.
