Works great and setup was easy - just call Spectrum and give them the mac number and then reboot.

Better than the previous modem. Fast. I put an external fan on it because I feel like cable modems get too hot and eventually fail because of heat. I am not sure that is true but just in case, I put an external cooler on this one.

Easy setup and configuration. Mediacom installer experienced no issues during installation. Does the job and is also on the list of approved cable modems compatible with Mediacom's network, so likely would work among other cable internet services.

If your cable provider is a decent CMTS they should be up to DOCSIS 3.1. This allows bonding of US and DS channels plus the use of OFDM. OFDM is a much wider carrier that can handle the higher speeds that most cable operators offer. Arris (formally Motorola, and now it may be called Commscope, although they may not change the branding right away) has manufactured quality equipment for a long time.
The early production versions of this model modem had a inferior chipset, Moto/Arris fixed this.
This is a good solid modem that performs well.

Wry easy to setup, Comcast / Xfinity performance will vary. In my area Docsis 3.1 download works as expected but Docsis 3.0 only supported in my area or supported with my current plan which I did not expect which was disappointing.
Otherwise I have seen better download performance than my older Arris modem and I would strongly recommend this upgrade if you don’t need or plan to need a Comcast based VoIP phone since this modem does not support this capability.

I received a notice from my internet provider that my current modem was not sufficiently supporting the level of service I was paying for. Of course, the internet provider wanted me to upgrade and rent from them.
I bought this unit. It’s more than I needed, however it offers some future proofing for me. It was super easy to set up. I’m paying for 400Mbps and now get an average of 478. I’m using a Linksys router that I also bought at BestBuy. Very happy with the results!

I upgraded from an older Arris Surfboard modem, and this newer 32x8 Doc Sys 3.1 noticeably improved my online experience . Browser was faster, and response time on Spectrum Web Mail improved, not by much but improved. Down and Up Internet speeds regularly test faster by approximately 17%. I also upgraded my router, and the Arris SB8200 helped my router's efficiency and performance.
I recommend upgrading to 32x8, Doc Sys 3.1, if you have an older cable modem, and I recommend the Arris SB8200. It is reliable and stable.

Woo, here we are a year later and I forgot I'd gotten it from best buy. I just changed my internet setup and gave this little boy a place of honor on my nightstand with plenty of room for air circulation.
If your ISP allows you to use your own modem DEFINITELY consider this one with a router of your choice. SO much more secure than renting a modem from an ISP with your internet. AND while it's more up front for a modem and router ($130? for this modem), you'd pay more than that in one year of renting a modem. So after 13 months I've saved maybe 10-30 dollars, and for every future year I'll save at least $100.
CAVEAT: Make sure you know how to install the modem; it's not complicated but you need to know a little about wiring and be willing to be on the phone with your ISP for a bit to set it up.
All that said, I wish more ISPs would let you use your own modem, since the only ISP in my area which will allow you to use your own modem is Xfinity.
Necessary upgrade to use higher speed Xfinity acct

After being notified by my ISP that my Docsi 3.0 unit was no longer up to speed, I purchased the Arris surfboard 3.1 unit, which was recommended by the ISP. The authentication process stumbled at the ISP, but with a little help over the telephone, I was up and running in about 40 minutes. It seems to give better speeds, and doesn't need to be rebooted as often as the older modem. When I am streaming entertainment, and the speed is verified, the download data rate is noticeably higher, and the incidence of buffering is significantly lower.

The Arris has lasted me throughout the years. It is very fast and I never have any problems from the arris. It has been very reliable so far. This was the second one that I had purchased while having Xfinity as my internet provider.
