I'm in love with it, Windows ten has some bugs, it doesn't have much memory however but it is everything performance wie you could ever think of or imagine. This is a power workhorse, I never have any problems playing the highest quality videos, live streaming. All in all it cost me nearly 2 grand with the antivirus, it's comes with Windows defender so you don't need the anti virus. Insurance and getting the warranty is recommended, though I haven't had any issues or problems it is a pricy piece.
the only reason it doesn't have 5 stars is because of the tiny storage. It's enough for a few things and then some but not ideal for anyone storing movies and a large mass of music.

My desktop failed and I needed something quick that was in my immediate budget. A few of my priorities for a new laptop were: 17.3" screen, good graphics card, backlit keyboard with number pad, large hard drive, disc drive, i7, 1TB.
I did not have to compromise any of that (although there were only a few laptops available at any retailer that fit my requirements within my budget).
The bonus to this model was that it had a touchscreen, free Windows 10 update, and the keyboard was designed for gaming.
I've used it for a couple of months. Two things are annoying: It is a beast to lug to the coffee shop or actually use on my lap, and when the disc drive pops out, I feel like I have to be super careful to support it as I press a disc into it. It's an inconvenience but it provides me with excellent quality gaming so I am happy.
I use this laptop daily on my home office desk and it is almost always connected via HDMI to my XL monitor when I'm gaming or just prefer a larger screen. I also use two of the USB's to plug in my Steel Series Apex keyboard for gaming sessions.

so far I am loving it. has a touchscreen and for the price not to bad for what you get. the downside is that it comes with a 1 TB hard drive at 5400 rpm. 8 gig ram which are installed under the keyboard so not in a easy spot to get to. also the 1 screw to open the bottom is very small. so need a small screw driver.
for now I just added a 256 gig SSD and an 8 gig ram. the SSD I did not put os on. it boots pretty fast already. I rather have the 256 gigs to install games onto for now.
just picked up in the store and so I am now downloading games and will give them a try. I am not to picky of a person, and so I just want to be able to play current games on decent settings and get 60+fps. I will be playing FPS games and racing games.
played cod4 and it was amazing. I do want to add though that this is a bit warmer then there ROG. this model vents from the bottom and out the back. so you would have to use on a flat surface and maybe even on a cooling pad. and just got to get used to win 8.
I am not saying it needs a cooling pad either. don't think it gets that hot. but the potential is there especially sense there is not much flow under it.

I bought this computer because my Asus Zen notebook is now 4 years old and wanted to make sure I had another computer before I ran into problems with it. That being said, since my Zen notebook has offered me so much time trouble free I have become an Asus fan. When I bought my Zen book, it was because I had convinced myself that with it's ultra portability I would take it every where and use it all the time.......NOT. What I discovered was that for the vast majority of the time it sat on my desk and was used there, with very little need for the portability. So in looking for it's replacement, and keeping in mind that I like to mess around with some pretty graphics heavy animation and 3-d modeling programs, I decided my next laptop would be all about processing power and speed. While designed for gaming, this notebook keeps me pretty happy as far as the processing power part goes! It's large screen makes it a pretty decent replacement for a desktop system, and the graphics card included does more then a decent job of handling the workload I throw at it. This notebook is rather heavy compared to most of today's laptops, because it is all about power. And that's just fine. Portability is cut down quite a bit due to it's weight, but I have traveled with it and it is a minor inconvenience for the performance level. The one downside as far as speed goes is that the included hard drive, while ample in data space, is not an SSD. My Zenbook got me spoiled with it's almost instant on, and I don't like to wait....lol. This too is not a huge issue if you are willing to spend a little more to upgrade, as putting a second hard drive into this laptop is a fairly easy process, and there are tutorials on YouTube that walk you through the process of making an SSD your main drive and the stock drive as secondary. So that's what I did, I installed a 250 GB SSD drive as the main and now I'm a happy camper.
I don't know how gamers are receiving this laptop, but if you have the need for some pretty decent graphics processing power, and are looking for a machine that will primarily sit on a desk with the occasional need for portability, this machine should be more then ample.
One other thing to keep in mind, finding a laptop case that doesn't make you look like a gamer is mildly difficult due to the large size. Most cases that will fit it are for hardcore gamers and are made to look that way. After quite a bit of searching, I was able to find a decent case that looked professional but the choices are slim.
One other thing that I found nice is that because of the graphics card inside this laptop, there are frequent updates to the graphics controllers which is nice because I know my system should stay fine tuned for the type of graphics work I do for quite some time.

I had been contemplating a new laptop for some time. I was looking at MSi's, Gigabyte, and Lenova, but ultimately decided on the ASUS when a deal of the day happened for under grand. I thought it was too good to pass up. I'm a casual gamer, photo and video editor, so this laptop nicely accommodates my needs.
The update from windows 8 to 10 was easy, but there seems to be a problem with the Geforce experience, I haven't resolved that problem yet, but it seems not to affect any of my games or daily activities.
The backlit keyboard is nice. The layout is good with the exception of the absence of a right function key. I really wanted a mechanical keyboard like my razer black widow, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
The display is good and bright. Would have been nice to have at least 3k, but I think I would have needed more video memory.
The initial 8 gigs of memory was plenty, but I upgrade with 16 more gigs of Crucial Ballistix which was very easy to do.
So far the hdd hasn't held me up at all, seems pretty fast. Upgrade to a SSD seems easy too.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

So I did a lot of research on laptops looking at prices and specs and comparing. this is the best bang for your buck. it wasn't on sale but the only thing that came close to this was the same model that had a faster hard drive I believe 8 gigs more ram and a gtx 670 3 gb memory. which all sounds good but this is why I choose this laptop instead. First that laptop was 120$ more. The processor was a model older and even though the graphics card was a bit newer and stronger the difference isn't much. because I can still play games like dayz, arma 3, swtor, all on ultra settings with no problems so far. and the biggest reason I choose this over the other ASUS was this had a touch screen! which I heard is essential when win 10 is released. I had the money to buy the other one if I wanted to but again it didn't have a touch screen. And I went with this model instead of msi because this has a dual cooling system with a sub!!! and again I kept coming back because this had the touch screen. So as far as the laptop its self it runs very smooth and fast. the screen looks gorgeous. and it even caught my wife off guard when she walked by and said. "wow that looks real". so you wont go wrong with this laptop. plus my last laptop was a ASUS and I had it for 8 years before it finally just got to old. they are a known brand that I can trust to be good. The only thing I would say as far as a down side is that it is a tank. so if you do plan on being nothing but portable, then get ready to carry it. other than that I am happy so far.

I bought this gaming laptop as a gift. Before wrapping it up I installed all of her favorite software and preferences and I got a chance to test it.
Con first, when I was examining it my concern wasn't that it's heavy or that it's a fingerprint magnet (I knew that before buying it because of reviews), my issue is that the battery is built into the laptop. So in a few years I will have to take it in or partially disassemble it myself to replace its massive battery. It's just like a Macbook in that sense except you absolutely cannot replace mac battery on your own. Even though this was a disappointment the pros are so sweet that you let it go.
Pros, it is lightening fast and I was trying to push its limits by running a resource intensive game with 20 tabs open in FF (each tab running flash vids) while converting a file into an mp4 while playing a DVD and doing a file transfer. Whatever I can dish out it can take, which was very impressive. Of course what puts it over the top is the touch screen which makes the annoying app design in Win 8 kinda fun. Everything about the laptop even the box it's packaged in is chic. I did not know until I purchased it that the logo on the back lights up red (nice touch).
Recap
Con: Built in battery makes replacement difficult
Pro: Performance, Sleek design, touch screen, price, runs quiet, glow in the dark keyboard and logo
Bottom line - This laptop is "The One"
If I had an extra grand to drop on a laptop, I'd buy it again.

I didn't initially set out to purchase this Asus Lap Top. I was just looking for a new lap top that didn't overheat, that had the capacity to do what I needed (I'm online a great deal with multiple pages open at various sites and I have a few programs that suck up a lot of space and power), and had a larger screen. I was directed by knowledgeable staff who answered questions and explained that this was what I wanted.
I've used it for over a month and love it. I rarely use the touch screen feature, but it is nice. It's sensitive, but not overly sensitive to touch if that makes sense. The sound system is better than adequate and the sharpness of picture quality is super good so I think gamers would adore this lap top. The keyboard is set forward more than I like so that my wrists hit a hard spot, but so far I don't hurt from long periods of typing and navigating. It loaded all my programs and apps easily and doesn't even struggle with my security which was a problem with the last lap top.
I haven't really run it off of battery much, but its about average in battery life though charging seems a bit quicker than my last one. Oh, the cord isn't as long as some brands, but it is long enough to reach from most places I plug in.
My only niggle and it's not a big one is that its a heavy laptop. The weight is the better-made internal components and better cooling system which I don't mind if it makes the computer last longer and work well while it is on. It was on the higher end of price, but I think its the quality and longevity vs quantity thing.
So overall, it was a great choice for me and the knowledgeable staff made it a good shopping experience, too.

Researched various gaming laptops and had a friend tell me about this one. Had great experiences with ASUS in the past also. Got this and installed a Samsund SSD and got additional RAM to allow for fast start up and video editing. Amazing speed when searching the web. Also love how I can game for hours and not worry about overheating. The red illuminated keyboard is a bonus. Screen resolution is amazing and crystal clear. If you need a small and light laptop this isn't for you. Highly recommend a backpack for transporting. All in all, I love this laptop.

This is a great, and fairly powerful, laptop.
I'll just break it down with pros and cons:
Positives
- Backlit keyboard
- Large 17" screen
- Touch screen
- Ample ports for accessories
- Capable of adding additional HDD
- i7 processor and Nvidia 965m graphics card
Negatives
- A little big and heavy (negative if you need something lighter and smaller)
- Only 8 GB of RAM (expandable to 32 GB)
- I've had issues with my external USB HDDs disconnecting, but they re-establish quickly
- The backlit keyboard will go out at various times, requiring a reboot to reacquire the backlit capability
Bottom line - this laptop works great as a desktop replacement, and with its expandable RAM and HDD, the laptop should last quite a while before upgrading to a faster machine

I picked this up for work because I needed a Quad core with the ability to run a storage HD and a SSHD with max ram. It met my price point and I was able to quickly and easily install the SSHD and 32G of ram by removing 1 screw. I have it docked into my office and its pushing 2 external monitors and its touch screen monitor along with an external 2TB drive and a business class all in one. Multitasking as a breeze at this point. It is a gamming laptop, but its working great as my workstation and one of these days I might actually game on it.

All around this is everything I read up on it. Great laptop. I bought this as my first gaming computer and no problems. The touch screen is something I am new too but overall it is everything it says and I have read.
I did/do have a problem with the charging. I noticed it has a feature that stops the charging after being at 100% for a while so the battery doesn't overheat or motherboard. Nice feature, however, mine does not start to charge again. GeekSquad couldn't find the answer yet. It only starts charging again when I unplug from the adapter (not computer, maybe outlet). I believe I have a rare case cause that's my luck (had problems with the first xbox one, exchanged, and not one since).
Still waiting for Nvidia to send out update to be compatible with the windows 10 that I was excited to get and let down that I was unable to get. BestBuy employees said I would be able to get it when it came out, not so much the case right now.
Overall though, great laptop. Hoping the charging feature is just a problem with my unit - but beware. If you need it to start charging you are inconvenienced by having to unplug, then re-plug.

I bought this laptop to replace an alienware. Im able to play video games at the highest quality, download videos and watch videos all at the same time. It never overheats and it made of sturdy equipment. I did not think I would find a laptop comparable to the speed and quality as my alienware, but this has far exceeded my expectations. I recommend you get the accident insurance and the virus protection with this laptop.

-This machine is outrageously good for the money.
-I can run HortonWorks/Cloudera Hadoop distributions inside VirtualBox concurrently as a development tool.
-8GB is built in (soldered on main board) with two empty slots available for up to 32GB (i.e. buying 16GB kit will take you to 24GB total).
-Didn't realize until I got it home that it was *also* a touchscreen.
-Best Buy matched competitors price.
-The only bad part is trying to find a bag that will hold this machine - closed it measures 1.5"H x 12.5"W x 16.5"D - I'm squeezing it into an Oakley "Big Kitchen" backpack.

First off: Awesome laptop from an awesome company. If you are looking for a gaming powerhouse, wrapped in a nice portable package, then this is the machine for you.
I have owned and recommended several Asus ROG laptops over the years, and now almost all of my friends have outfitted themselves with them. They last for years. My last one, I bought in 2012 and I am still playing games today at maximum graphic specs.
The only downside is that portable is a loose term. The laptop probably weighs a good 10lbs with its power brick added another 1lb to the mix. Not nearly as portable as other laptops, but far more portable than lugging your gaming tower around.
