Great laptop highly recommend, i take this to work all the time and its a beast. Gaming drains the battery fast while, doing basic stuff like homework it can remain on upwards to 8 hrs +without charging. Got no complaints with the fhd. I will say the fan can be a little loud and 512 gb is a little small. But upgrading the ram and ssd is surprisingly pretty cheap. Highly recommend.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a sleek-yet-powerful gaming laptop with modern features. Have always been a fan of the Zephyrus line of laptops since receiving my first G14 almost 5 years ago. This new laptop has many welcome improvements while retaining the core styling which makes these laptops top-notch. Weighing in at 4.41lbs, this laptop is not that heavy compared to other gaming laptops of its caliber. This light weight is reflected in the sleek design of the laptop. The looks of this machine are premium with its eclipse gray color and subdued styling. Laptop has a rigid construction of magnesium alloy which is resistant to smudges. The hinge is sturdy as well and the screen can lay flat at 180 degrees. There is also a large rubber foot on the rear of the laptop for proper airflow underneath the chassis and tilts to a comfortable position for the keyboard. I/O is comprehensive with full sized HDMI, ethernet, USB-A, and thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports. Laptop even has a Kensington lock and micro-SD card reader. Am a major fan of the inclusion of a Windows Hello compatible webcam. This facial recognition feature works flawlessly, and I am logged in immediately. Webcam and microphone quality are adequate for conferencing and are on par with other laptops. AI microphone noise cancelling modes can be selected in the Armoury Crate software. These modes aim to mimic different pickup patterns which work quite well in practice. Single-zone, RGB backlit chicklet keyboard is a pleasure to type on as it has satisfying tactile feedback. Keys are well stabilized and function keys have double functions. Large, 6” trackpad glides smoothly and has crisp tactile clicks. Keyboard RGB is easily customizable through the Armoury Crate program. 16-inch OLED display is packed with all the bells and whistles one could dream of. Display is 165hz, HDR and GSYNC compatible. Not to mention that it has extremely wide viewing angles and a matte finish. The screen is also PANTONE validated for 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, which is 25% wider than sRGB. Was impressed when the blur busters UFO test revealed almost nonexistent motion blur nor ghosting. This is quite the feat for a display with such thin bezels and form factor. Benchmark Scores: • Cinebench 2024: o GPU: 11500 o CPU Multi Core: 785 o CPU Single Core: 108 o MP Ratio: 7.02x • 3Dmark Steel Nomad: o Score: 2759 • Unigine Superposition (1080p Extreme): o Score: 7255 o Avg FPS: 54 • BMW27 Blender Render: o CPU: 02:39:90 o GPU: 00:18:02 • Crystal Disk Mark (NVME SSD Profile): o Sequential 1MiB read: 5075 MB/s o Sequential 1MiB write: 3893 MB/s o Random 4KiB read: 738 MB/s o Random 4KiB write: 489 MB/s • GTA V Benchmark: o Average Framerate: 125 o Average Frametime: 8 MS • CS:2 FPS Benchmark: o Average Framerate: 172 o 1% Low Framerate: 95 All game benchmarks were performed at maximum graphics settings and with the laptop on “turbo mode”. SSD benchmark was performed with the drive at 50% capacity. These results are blazing fast and even outperform similarly spec’d computers. However, this is no surprise considering the 13th generation i7 processor and Nvidia 4070 at the heart of this beast. Cooling system does an excellent job at keeping the temps of this monster of a machine at bay. CPU reached its maximum temp of 100 degrees only once during the Cinebench multi core test. I never recorded the GPU exceeding 70 degrees Celsius. Additionally, once the benchmarks were over, the processors were quickly cooled, and fans quieted down. Heat is exhausted out the sides and back of the laptop. Under load, the trackpad area and most of the keyboard stays cool to the touch. Only the center, top area of the keyboard heats up. Fans are considerably loud at nearly 50db under max load. Performing upgrades on this device is straightforward as ASUS has provided detailed user, service manuals, and self-repair guides on their website. The laptop comes equipped with a 512 GB Western Digital SN740 PCIe 4.0 SSD drive and was able to install an additional full-sized NVME SSD in under an hour. 16 GB of dual-channel, DDR4 ram clocked at 3200mhz is soldered on. There is a SODIMM slot allowing for a ram upgrade up to a total of 48 GB as well. Was surprised when accessing the BIOS as it is refined and comprehensive, especially for a laptop. User interface similar to a fully-fledged ROG motherboard. Notably, the BIOS can create RAID drives with Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Armoury Crate software comes pre-installed on this machine. This program enables switching performance modes, controlling RGB, and updating key system components. The program also allows for custom fan curves and mild GPU overclocking. Overall, the ASUS Zephyrus G16 packs a computational punch while having subdued yet striking looks. This laptop truly strikes the balance of raw power and portability for gaming or workstation use on the go.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a powerhouse in the gaming laptop arena, offering a robust combination of cutting-edge technology and sleek design. Featuring a 16" FHD display with a 165Hz refresh rate, this machine ensures buttery-smooth visuals that make gaming and multimedia experiences incredibly immersive. The screen's color accuracy and brightness are exceptional, making it ideal not only for gaming but also for content creation and media consumption.Under the hood, the laptop is equipped with the 13th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, which provides outstanding performance for multitasking and demanding applications. Paired with 16GB of RAM, the system handles multiple applications and large files with ease, ensuring that performance remains snappy and responsive even under heavy loads. This setup is particularly beneficial for gamers who stream or use resource-intensive applications simultaneously. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU is a standout feature, delivering top-tier graphics performance. Games run smoothly at high settings, and the laptop handles ray tracing and DLSS without breaking a sweat. This GPU is also beneficial for creative professionals who require substantial graphical power for tasks like video editing, 3D rendering, and other GPU-accelerated applications.Storage is managed by a 512GB SSD, which offers fast load times and quick data access. While this is sufficient for many users, gamers with extensive libraries or professionals handling large files might find the storage capacity a bit limiting. An upgrade or external storage solution might be necessary to accommodate larger collections of games or multimedia files. The design of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is both sleek and functional. The Eclipse Gray finish gives it a sophisticated look, while the laptop remains relatively lightweight and portable for a gaming device. The build quality is excellent, with a robust chassis that feels durable and premium. One notable shortcoming of the laptop is its battery life. High-performance components like the Intel i7 and RTX 4070 are power-hungry, which can drain the battery quickly during intensive use. Users may find themselves tethered to a power outlet during long gaming sessions or demanding tasks. Additionally, the cooling system, while effective at maintaining performance, can become quite noisy under load, which might be distracting in quieter environments.Overall, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is an impressive gaming laptop that excels in performance, design, and display quality. Its high refresh rate screen, powerful internals, and excellent build make it a strong contender in the gaming laptop market. However, its limited storage and battery life could be potential drawbacks for some users. Taking everything into account, I would rate this product at 4.5 stars out of 5. It offers superb value and performance, with only minor areas for improvement.

    Solid mid-level Gaming Laptop

This appears to be a 2023 system since the 2024 has been refreshed a bit with different slash light lid. I've got a 2024 high end G16 and they are definitely very different in trim. The specs are decent at the price point making it a great mid-level gaming system. It comes with single stick of soldered in DDR4 16GB memory but there is a spare slot for another stick that the user can upgrade up to 48GB using a compatible 16 or 32GB stick. If you jump on Crucial's website and enter in the make and model you can see your compatible options for upgrade. Likewise for the storage. It comes with a 512GB M.2 SSD and there is a spare slot for another M.2 drive so you can upgrade easily. My only complaint about storage is that Asus did not extend the heat spreader to the spare slot. It is only over the primary drive and a heat transfer tape is applied to help dissipate the heat. It would have been great if they would have extended the spreader... just sayin'. Now the upgrades I mentioned of course are done at your own risk. If you are familiar with popping the back off of the laptop and dropping in the upgrades its actually pretty easy. I added a 2TB Gen4 SSD to my unit giving me the needed space for the games I like playing. Later about one of my peeves about cheaping out on storage and memory. My current game of choice is Skull and Bones which is very graphics intensive so makes a great test. With the textures of a rolling ocean, fog, night, storms, crashing waves, it really pushed the 4060. The 165mHz screen offers a clean and crisp display, especially while gaming. Resolution is only 1900 x 1200 max but more than needed for the 16" display. The default ultra high graphics settings were a bit ambitious and I was getting tearing and losing a lot of texture. I backed off graphic setting to high and game play is smooth with an average of 60 frames/second but it did dip to 48fps during intense sea battles but really no noticeable stuttering. The cooling fans do tend to ramp up under gaming load, as expected. Pros + speakers are top mounted and are among the best I've heard on a laptop + great keyboard and trackpad + display adapter and graphics card are well matched for good gaming experience. Cons - soldered memory - short heat spreader for storage - small annoyance with the placement of the status lights, can see reflection on the screen Now for my peeve... for the life of me I don't understand why laptop manufacturers cheap out on storage and memory. Prices of those are really not terrible especially when they buy them in bulk. 512GB is simply not enough storage for a gaming laptop... PERIOD. If you are like me my favorite games require a decent amount of GB. I upgraded my G16 with a 2TB secondary drive and with 8 games installed I am already eating almost 1TB of that drive so 512GB simply doesn't cut it. Increase the price by $50 and add at least a 1TB drive or even 2TB and you will have a great system... not just a good system. I find it funny that they make it upgradeable and then hide 3 screws under rubber plugs. I don't think any of the other laptops I own cover any screws.

Great laptop. It was a school/ game on the go rig and it has performed phenomenally in those aspects. It's not too heavy, not too hot, though it does benefit from increased air flow space. For productivity and school work, no problem and not so flashy that it's an obvious gaming laptop. For gaming, it can run most games at fair FPS and decent graphics. I don't have a cooling pad, propping it up works fine. Fans can be very loud, but you can adjust the fan curve and fix that quite easily. Get rid of armoury crate and get G-helper. By no means does it replace the power of main PC or the couch comfort of a handheld, that said, it is a perfect in between and there'll be a desktop surface available. Decent battery and charges with barrel charger or USB-C PD (lower, but decent).

i love this laptop! this is my first gaming pc ever, so i don’t have much to compare it to, but i think it runs flawlessly. i was previously using an asus vivobook that was practically on its deathbed before this one, and this is a very welcome upgrade! i get upwards of 150-180 frames on minecraft with high quality shaders, and i can run triple a games with no problem. the fans are LOUD which could be a distraction but i always have headphones on so it doesn’t bother me. the RGB is fully customizable through the armoury crate program which is really fun to play around with! this laptop is lightning fast which is something i’m seriously not used to, i used to wait 20+ minutes for my old pc to reboot, this one takes less than a minute. the battery life is fair, nothing insane, but it lasts pretty long unplugged. always game plugged in, though. my only concern is the storage, but it can be easily upgraded. i will never buy a non-gaming pc ever again, the zephyrus g16 has fully converted me. if you’re looking for a sign to throw out that old business pc and get yourself a super nice gaming one, this is your sign!! do it!!

Looks are subjective, it looks clean, slim, and unique, but the badge and pattern on lid may be a bit too much if you use your laptop in public. It is a good performance laptop for the $1100, if you do not mind loud fans. They are louder than some desktops but it is logical since dissapating 280W of power in a thin laptop would make fans work hard. it handles 3D modelling softwares and games pretty good. Preinstalled softwares and drivers makes this laptop worse than my 10 year old laptop, specially the display drivers which cause display freeze, stuttering and display artifacts. You will have to reinstall windows and all the drivers and Asus drivers in order to make this laptop work properly. But when it works it has no problem running anything reasonable. As for rest of the things, keybard is good, clicky but short travel. trackpad is large and quite good. it has all important ports, you wont necessarily need a usb dock. Has a dedicated display out direct from GPU. power adapter is big and heavy fro travel, but its 280W, i cant blame them for it. I would suggest get a powerful enough USB charger for travel but just dont play games when you use it. I usually use it plugged in and rarely use it on battery but on 'Eco' mode, it did last 8 hours and that is good enough for me. Go for it, it is a great laptop for the money specially looking at how expensive laptops are with anything above RTX 4060 and also since increments in features havent been significant enough to pay 3K for newest laptop. Also you may have to use headphone if you want to use it daily.

I want to start this review by stating that I am a power user. I have had several Zephyrus laptops, and this one is like the others; impressive, and well performing. First, the screen resolution on the Best Buy website is INCORRECT. It is actually 1920x1200, meaning it has a 16:10 aspect ratio. In short, the screen is gorgeous. The fans can get loud, but let's be honest, with a 4070 and i7 under the hood, it needs that kind of airflow. The battery life is impressive given the specs. It is DDR4, but you wont notice a difference. I easily dropped in a 16GB stick of Corsair Vengeance to total 32GB as I needed a bit more for some programs I run. Not to mention, the gaming experience (what the laptop was designed for) is flawless!

This was a 2023 Asus Zephyr bought in 03/2025, i was able to add 32 GB memory and a second 1 TB SSD card for storage. Excellent for my gaming needs (light). It does have noisy fans when running higher demand games that i tested it on. Overall a good buy and great value in this economy.

Purchased this to replace a desktop that was showing its age. This thing performs really well, but my only complaint is the fan can get ridiculously loud under a demanding load. I know there are ways to change the fan profile to quiet it down a bit, but I don't want to run it to run too hot. I guess I have just been used to desktops since that has been all I've known. Also, my other complaint was the limited storage. The first thing I did was purchase another M2 drive to throw in there since 512GB isn't nearly enough.

This laptop is amazing. From the screen, to the hardware its defining worth it if you can get it on a sale. I got it when it was on sale but had to return to get a refund to help my girlfriend with her payments on her car just to did it for nothing because she changed her mind and now its not on sale as the making of this review. The 4070 was amazing and played all my games on max settings with 1080p. The fans revs constantly with full load but didn't rev then slow like another laptop i had. My laptop cooler helped a ton and really kept this cool. Even without a cooler it didn't get too hot, nothing terrible as long as it wasn't on your lap too long. This was my favorite sweet spot laptop for gaming and overall great laptop overall. Definitely buy this if it goes back on sale below $1300 even open box excellent is a good option so when it goes on sale it will drop to like $1230-ish give or take a bit. Great value for that money.

After testing a lot of gaming laptops. This is the best in general. It may be a little loud with the fans but know your temps will be under 80c always. Your frames will be high with high settings in no matter what game. I have tried a Alienware m16 r2,asus tuf and asus rog strix and this was better then them all. It does good in anything you can throw at it. If you need something to throw everything and the kitchen sink at this thing will handle it. 120w 4070 and never goes above 85c even with max ray tracing in cyberpunk. No cooling mat either. Have had it for a month and it’s a complete trooper. Ok back to my oblivion remake see ya

For anyone looking for a gaming laptop, I think this is probably the best on the market as of 5/21/25. From price to specs ratio, and without having to sell an arm and a leg to afford it. You get at least over 80 frames in most games with most settings maxed out, some more demanding games leave you at 60 frames. When getting the laptop download the nvidia drivers, update windows, and optimize your laptop for gaming. Otherwise you’ll be stuck with screen tear every few seconds. Battery life isn’t the best when playing games so always play with it plugged in to achieve the best performance. The display is decent, OLED would be better, but it’s ok. I’d recommend checking out similar laptops at your local hardware stores to see if this is a dealbreaker. The only issue I have is that it overheats a bit without a cooling pad, and the fans are incredibly loud when playing games or doing anything demanding. So make sure that when playing games you have proper ventilation and a cooling pad to avoid damaging components with overheating. Overall a solid laptop imo.

Excellent gaming laptop. The RTX 4070 8 gb GPU runs every game I have played very smooth and at very high settings and the graphics are amazing. Even the newer games that have come out recently. The fan is a little on the loud side while gaming but I play with a headset so don’t really notice. The RGB lighted keyboard can be customized and looks really cool. System RAM is 16gb but expandable to 32gb. Overall a very good laptop for gaming.

I mainly use the laptop for playing PUBG. The machine handles very well, even on ultra settings. The only drawback are the cooling fans. They are extremely loud. Headphones are a must. I ended up adding an external monitor with long cabling so I can place the laptop in a closet. Otherwise, when using voice chat everyone asks if I am in a wind tunnel.

Out of the box this thing was a beast. Able to run Modern games at around 90+ fps on ultra settings. About a month in one of the cooling fans started to fail causing the other fan to work harder to keep the pc cool and made the laptop really loud. In order to be able to play with no problems I had to change my fan profile to full speed. I would have gave the laptop 5 stars but due to the problems I had to change it to 3 because its a toss up if you get a good one it’s really good but it’s a chance things could go wrong.
