TLDR: If you are in the market for a 1440p gaming monitor, or a large screen monitor for content creation, you would be hard pressed to find anything better.
KEY FEATURES
WQHD Resolution 2560 x 1440
AMD Free Sync Premium & nVidia Adaptive Sync Compatible
170Hz Refresh Rate / 1ms Response Time
HDR Capable (Approx 400 nits max)
This Asus monitor is the most comprehensive and feature-rich monitor I’ve used to date. There are so many options and settings that it is hard to find a spot where to begin.
GAMING FEATURES
Refresh Rates - Asus has apparently been looking hard at the monitor scene and decided to throw out almost every trick at its playbook. Anything that was needed to make a monitor a good gaming monitor, they took it and ran with it. This monitor has some terrific features for gamers. Starting off with a 170Hz maximum refresh rate and a 1ms response time. Fast moving images are clear and blur free. I occasionally get some blurring on fast action sequences on my lesser monitors but did not experience any perceivable blurring using the Asus.
Adaptive Sync - Asus equipped this monitor with AMD FreeSync Premium which, in a nutshell, allows the monitor to match the refresh rate of the graphics card, eliminating tearing and banding. It worked beautifully on my AMD based laptop with a Radeon 6600M card. There are so many things this monitor has to offer, I’m not sure why Asus didn’t go all in and have the monitor certified with nVidia’s G-Sync technology. Seems like an unfortunate oversight.
HDR – This monitor can support HDR (High Dynamic Range) content. HDR material, unlike SDR material can achieve brighter brights and darker darks without items and artifacts being washed out or lost in the background. My testing showed the monitor was capable of approximately 400 nits (at best) peak brightness, which isn’t revolutionary, but appears amazing if you have been on a monitor that doesn’t support HDR. The Asus is only compatible HDR10 encoded material, it does not support HLG or Dolby Vision playback and reproduction. Though, this really shouldn’t be considered a deal-breaker as a vast majority of videos are encoded with the HDR10 algorithm as this is the universal standard vs proprietary encoding of the other formats.
PICTURE MODES – The monitor has multiple, easy to choose picture and performance modes available at the push of a button. A shoutout should be given to Asus for their button design on the back of the monitor. There are 4 triangle shaped buttons and a joystick to make adjustments. The buttons are big and easy to differentiate from one another. I wish all manufacturers made their stuff like this. OK, back on topic. There are several modes to automatically adjust picture contrast, color temperature, input lag, cinema viewing, playing sports, racing, etc. The list is extensive, thorough, and exhausting. I found my go-to settings were race (lowest latency), normal color temperature, and all the Asus tweaks turned off like VividPixel, Shadow Boost, ASCR, etc.
FINAL THOUGHTS
There are so many more features that I can go on and one about, but it all comes down to this: This is one of the best monitors I’ve ever tested and played on. Not only does the monitor strut its stuff with an almost perfect D65 color reproduction, but its color uniformity is almost perfectly linear throughout its range of color reproduction. I was shocked at the results from my colorimeter.
Asus has gifted this monitor with MANY features an avid gamer could need or want, maybe even some they didn’t know they needed. I get that Asus bills the monitor towards gamers, but I think they are selling themselves short on their target audience. The color accuracy is so good, I feel this would be equally at home on a content creator’s desk as a gamer’s. I know I’ve gushed over this monitor and its many attributes, but it really is that good. Yes, it isn’t 4k. Yes, it isn’t an OLED. Even so, there isn’t anything not to like about it. Well done Asus!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Best Bang for your Buck 32in Gaming Monitor

I recently had the pleasure of upgrading my gaming monitor to the ASUS TUF Gaming VG32AQAY1A 32-inch QHD 1440p gaming monitor, and I must say I do enjoy it. As a big gamer, I was looking for a display that would deliver great visuals, a fast refresh rate, and at a reasonable price. Coming from a 27-in display to the 32-in at the screen size is perfect for FPS games, and the QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 provides crisp, detailed visuals that look way better than my old 1080p monitor. The colors are vibrant, and the contrast ratio is excellent, making dark scenes look rich and atmospheric. The HDR isn't the best in that it's only HDR 400 and when it’s on when you're just browsing the internet and apps on your desktop, colors can look a little off, so I recommend only turning it on when gaming. When you turn on the overclock mode to get 170 Hz refresh rate HDR is automatically turned off and you can not use it.
One of the main selling points for me was the 165Hz refresh rate. It's a noticeable improvement coming from 60 Hz or 120 Hz monitors, and it really makes a difference in fast twitch based games like CS:Go, Apex and COD. The increased refresh rate results in smoother motion, reduced ghosting, and a more responsive gaming experience. Along with Adaptive Sync technology, I've experienced significantly fewer screen tears and stutters, which is crucial for gaming.
The monitor's design is one of the weaker aspects of it, in that the plastic feels very cheap, along with the side buttons being loose and kind of rattle when using them to navigate the menus. The stand only allows you to tilt it forwards and backwards, but it comes with a vesa mount on the back, which is probably the best way to use this monitor by mounting it. The TUF Gaming branding is subtle and stylish, and doesn't come off as “Gamery” while also still looking professional.
One more aspect that I appreciate is the monitor's connectivity options. It has a variety of ports, including DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0, though I wish it would have made the HDMI port 2.1, so I could get the full refresh rate out of my PS5 and Xbox. It also features two USB 3.0 ports, which are convenient for connecting peripherals or charging devices.

Pretty Nice 32" Monitor with 170 Hz & 1440p

Currently gaming monitors play a fundamental role as they are devices with which we spend time and that at the end of the day give us the experience of interaction with our favorite videogames. Some of the key aspects that will make the experience better are the resolution, refresh rate, response time, panel type, synchronization technology and monitor size.
This ASUS TUF 31.5" LED monitor meets the current gaming demands: 2560 x 1440p maximum resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate (Overclocked to 170 Hz), 1 millisecond response time (translates to low latency), FreeSync (AMD Adaptive Sync), 32" (31.5") VA panel.
Despite not being a 4k monitor the resolution is quite good, it actually exceeds my expectations, also the monitor has different image configuration options that allow you to customize the monitor to your liking. On the back it has large enough buttons that allow access to preset options and allow you to navigate through the menu easily. It can be connected via HDMI or Displayport which is the one I use since a cable is included (Displayport 1.2), it’s VESA compatible I use it that way and it is easy to set up.
The monitor is set to 165 Hz by default, in the menu you can activate the Overclocking option that gives 170 Hz, when you activate this option there is not much difference in reality and also sometimes there is a little flickering, in my case with 165 Hz is enough. The different default color profiles are very useful but can only be changed when HDR is turned off. The monitor has very good brightness that I have to lower it to the maximum on some occasions, fortunately it has blue light filter and the option to modify the light temperature, this helps to not damage our eyes and more when it is a room with low illumination.
Regarding gaming performance I can say that everything goes very smoothly, the image quality is great, the size of the monitor pleases me since I usually use 27" monitors and I did not think it was necessary to use a larger one but I must say that the difference is noticeable, the change was favorable. The 165 Hz make the image much more fluid and the precision in shooters games is greater, the image quality makes the game elements on screen better perceived and the response time of 1 millisecond helps to have more precision, using this monitor has been a very pleasant experience I must confess.
In conclusion I consider that this ASUS TUF 31.5" LED monitor has the features currently needed to play smoothly and comfortably almost any title, has a resolution of 1440p, a maximum of 170 Hz, 1 ms response, 31.5", Display Port. Without a doubt I can highly recommend this monitor and more for those who have not yet experienced playing on monitors over 60Hz is a brutal change.

A Solid Gaming Monitor

I’ve been fortunate enought to use a few of ASUS gaming monitors in the past, in fact my primary monitor is another TUF gaming monitor from a couple of years ago. That being said this one did not disappoint.
Color accuracy, resolution, and latency are all things that are priority in a good gaming monitor. ASUS manages to tick all of those boxes to deliver a great viewing experience. No matter what game I tossed at it the image was always crisp and smooth. Some R6, CoD, Fortnite, Starfield, D4, and WoW, and all the while the games stayed looking amazing. The 2560x1440 and 170Hz refresh rate do a great job of making all 31.5” of screen real estate really immersive and allowing you to lose yourself in the game.
The stand is sturdy, and I don’t worry about it tipping over. You get a DisplayPort, and 2 HDMI inputs to connect multiple devices. I will say the only thing I would have hoped for is the ability to adjust the height of the monitor on the stand. It’s not a super common feature, but something I wished it had. You do get to adjust tilt, up and down to get the best viewing angle.
This would make a great addition to any gaming setup. You get a great 1ms response time, a 170Hz refresh rate, great resolution, and the bezels are on the sides and top are very slim. With the holidays creeping up, this is a monitor I could easily recommend.

Got this to use with my gaming laptop. Really liked the size to this since my gaming laptop is only a 17" screen on it. With this, almost, double the size of my laptop screen, makes for much easier and better gaming experience.
32" monitor is right in that sweet spot, for me at least. It's not too big and not too small. Still gives plenty of real estate to work with without being a strain on the eyes. I have a larger 49" screen (which is great) however there can be times where it's a strain to use since the super ultrawide format of the screen makes it a bit harder to focus in on what you need to focus on.
This is a flat screen so I know lots of folks swear by the curved screens these days. But I find this flat screen just as easy to use without sacrificing any performance or specs. This has decent specs so it's not the greatest performing monitor but neither it is an entry level monitor. 2560 x 1440 screen with 1ms response time. Hadn't had any issues with stutter or lag or ghosting when playing Destiny 2/RDR2. Has all the ports you need such as 2 HDMI and DisplayPort as well as 3.5mm jacks.
Overall, a great primary monitor for gaming or, if you have a larger monitor, then this will also make for a great secondary screen too. Only real complaint I had was with the stand. This monitor doesn't go up/down or side to side so it's quite limited in that respect. I would recommend you use a monitor arm like I did so you have a little more flexibility when using this monitor.

A Very Good Flat Monitor

This is 32" monitor, in case anyone was wondering. The picture quality is nothing less than what i have come to expect from ASUS. And for good measure, I made sure to psir it with my ASUS Tuf Gaming laptop., before connecting it to my Xbox Series X console. The colors pop off the screen. They're so vibrant and there is really no motion blur while in-game battles are happening. It does look like a TV. Thecontrols ,in the back are easy to get to and use. Thing that I love and hate about this monitor is the fact that there are speakers inside. This is such an important feature when i look into purchasing a new monitor. Mainly because I use my PC for consuming media, as well as game and web-surf. Sometimes you just want to watch Youtube while you do random chores. Yes. I've got a television, but as a gamer, I don't find myself in front of my TV as offten as I am in front of my PC. Now here's the drawback to this beautiful feature. The speakers are just north of terrible. You can barely hear it at full blast if you walk out of the room This is also an issue if you are across the room. Now, the possitive is, most PC and online gamers have headphones that they preferr over listening to the PC speakers, so this really isn't much of an issue for most. I'm just a sticler for needing speakers. I really do love this monitor and it should be stated that I was given this monitor for the sole purpose of testing. So I have to be brutally honest. Sorry ASUS. The speakers are kinda' trash. However, I still recommend this monitor for it's many positives. Display port and two HDMI ports. A headphone jack and the ability to be mounted on a wall or a floating stand.

“This ASUS TUF 31.5″ 2K monitor is a beast. The 170Hz refresh rate and 1ms response make gaming buttery smooth, and FreeSync Premium keeps everything tear-free. Colors are sharp, HDR adds nice depth, and the big screen makes games super immersive. Worth every penny.”

#1 Very vivid colors and can see a difference when watching 1080P and 4K videos.
#2 Speakers are good for testing to know you have sound but best to use headphones or plug in some speakers as the monitor speakers have no bass nor much of mid or high range. They are underwhelming, to say politely. Our ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 Laptop has better speakers.
#3 We compared the ASUS TUF 31" QHD 170Hz 1ms gaming monitor to our AOC 32" curved 180Hz gaming monitor and other than being flat and the AOC is curved, they are quite similar. We played 4K and 1080P videos on both and they looked almost identical when sitting in front of them centered with similar off centered fading as most monitors have but not as bad as some.
#4 Neither the AOC nor the ASUS gaming monitors liked the HDMI port on the Belkin 11 in 1 multiport dock that is connected to our ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 laptop, but both did work fine on the Digital Display port on the Belkin multiport dock. Our 4K 120Hz 40" Pioneer gaming TV we use as a monitor does like the Belkin multiport HDMI port, so we know the HDMI port is fine.
#5 If we can, we will buy another ASUS 32" 170Hz gaming monitor and another AOC 180Hz 32" curved gaming monitor to pair them up properly on two laptops.
The ASUS gaming monitor and AOC curved gaming monitor both have a slight fading when off standing centered and when leaning more than 12 inches side to side from the monitor's center view. but not as bad as on many other monitors. If someone is standing off to the side, they will still be able to see what is on the screen but not as bright and vivid as the user sitting in front of it.

Broke my acre nitro monitor while moving and had to buy a new monitor. Sucks I had to spend more money but I have to say I prefer this monitor over the curved display of my last. Picture quality is pretty good and it also has minimum glare but that could just be where I have it in my room. Definitely would recommend as a buying option as a great monitor for the price especially if you can snag it on sale.
