This is a solid laptop. The build is nice, it's fairly light, and looks pretty sleek overall. I've had no issues browsing, streaming videos, running any programs, or multitasking on this computer so far! However, I will have to second what another reviewer said: the keyboard on this thing is remarkably difficult to see. If you're in anything but absolutely perfect lighting, you won't be able to see the letters or symbols on the keys, and it's not backlit. This shouldn't be a big problem if you're familiar with your keyboard and know how to type without looking, but I will say it is aggravating nonetheless. Another thing I will add is that it's hard to see the screen from any angle except straight on; I have to adjust it to just the perfect angle every time I shift or move. This also isn't a big deal but it's another thing that's just a bit aggravating. I paid $500 for this thing on a Black Friday sale and I don't know if I'd pay more than that for this machine, but for that price range it performs very well. Despite the small imperfections in design that I mentioned, I'm very happy with my purchase and I'm still glad I chose this computer over others in the $500 range.

Nice laptop for the price (got mine on sale for $550) but with the Transparent Silver color it is very hard for me to see the letters, number, symbols on the keyboard keys. Unless the lighting and your viewing angle is perfect the keys look like a glare of silver. This laptop comes in other colors but unfortunately only the Transparent Silver color was on sale (probably the reason it was on Sale)! I would recommend a Laptop color that has a Black keyboard with white lettering.

I owned this laptop for about 24 hours and it plenty enough time for me to determine that it was an extraordinary pile of junk. The video display performance is very poor, but the most egregious flaw is the keyboard which has lettering that nearly matches the exact color of the keys themselves. If you look straight down at the keyboard from about 6 inches, you can see the lettering. As soon as you sit back in your chair it all disappears and you're left gazing at a sea of gray keys which all look the same. I can't imagine what Asus was thinking when they designed this thing.

Purchased on Nov 28, 2019. On April 25, 2021 noticed that the right side hinge of the display - inside screws are snapped off from grommets inside the panel. Now cannot close the display. Repair shops suggest to replace the back panel for close to 335$ estimate. Not worth spending 500$ for only a life of less than 1 year 5 months. This laptop has not fallen or mishandled.

I needed an updated laptop, as my previous Asus was 6 years old. I love the Asus brand, and this laptop has held up to my standards! the only negative aspect of the laptop was that I noticed after only having it for a few days there were some scratches on the bottom of the laptop. I do travel with my laptop, but I keep it in the laptop pocket of a backpack with nothing else inside, so I am unsure how these scratches developed. It does seem apparent that the laptop scratches easily, so I bought a laptop case/cover (a soft one, not a plastic one) and it has protected it from scratches. Besides the scratches the laptop is fantastic. It is very fast, the keyboard it nice, and the screen is amazing! Its not a typical screen that will have a glare when other light it shining on it. It is a very soft screen, almost like a kindle screen, but not exactly. I am extremely happy with my purchase!!!

Fast! Oh and did I mention...FAST!! It’s a Workhorse and a computing pleasure to use for any task. Light and thin. I like the Matte screen more than I believed I would. Dedicated charger is rugged enough too. Design is wonderful for flat surface because screen lifts the body up for airflow and enhanced screen viewing. Asus quality is always the best. A small element that makes a wonderful difference. Ok, get this there is NO back-lit keyboard. I knew this when I purchased it but thought I would give it a try. If the letters on the keys were black instead of laser etched maybe this would not be so aggravating. I use a multiple of machines so keeping up with key placement gets aggravating at times. High contrast labels do help but you better label them all. I would buy it again. Actually, if it had back-lit keyboard available, I would buy the same laptop NOW and it’s over a year later. I love how light and fast this laptop is. It meets all my expectations. The only thing I don't is the keyboard only because the colors of the letters blend in with the silver so without direct light it is hard to see what your typing. This is my first Asus and I look for

Loving this laptop--ease of functions, lightweight, fairly fast. Love the feel of the keyboard. HOWEVER, seeing the letters on the keys is horrible, unless you're viewing from a certain angle. Don't know what ASUS was thinking on that one! It's not a huge problem for me as I know my way around a keyboard very well...just an inconvenience. Also would be nice if keys were backlit. Overall, great computer, so far! I would purchase again.

Really fast and light to carry around. The keys are hard to see unless I am in just the right position, and the light is good. I don't have a ton of programs on it, and that might help with the quickness of the response, but this unit is QUICK!!

Great laptop for a reasonable price. Easy set up. Light weight, large screen, and fast!

We bought this unit on sale and have been very happy with the overall performance. Primarily just gets used for office stocks and heavy chrome usage but will easily handle 20 to 30 open tabs in chrome along with a couple other applications running in the background with little hesitation. Have not done anything that needs heavy graphics processing The only editing that has been done was using canva through the web browser so I can't necessarily speak to that. The solid state drive allows the unit to boot fast and it runs cool without fans sounding like an air plane is taking off unlike my MacBook pro that gets used for heavier graphics processing tasks.

Pros: Great specs for the price. Intel I7, 256GB SSD, 12GB ram. You'll be hard pressed to find these 3 items at this price point. Fast processing and ability to run games with minimal graphic requirements. Lightweight, great for travel as long as you're careful. Cons: Speakers are on the bottom of the computer. This seems like a serious design flaw, since everything sounds muffled and far away. No problem if you use headphones. Case/Shell feels cheap. I understand they had to cut corners to get the internal specs at this price point, but the case feels incredibly cheap and fragile. Compared to most laptops I feel like I'm going to break the plastic case relatively easy. Overall: I would recommend this laptop for middle tier work/browsing laptop. You're not going to be able to play a lot of games with the Intel default graphics card. Great value in terms of specs, but it does feel cheap in comparison to some laptops at his price. Some reviews are talking about the color of the letters on the keyboard, this is a NON-ISSUE. Unless you have 20/200 vision and you're not wearing glasses or contacts I'm not sure what the issue is. I have looked at the keyboard from multiple angles/distances and the keys are clearly visible.

Very happy with this laptop. I didn't want to spend a ton of money for a home laptop and this fit the bill. Read complaints about the monitor and keyboard. I didn't care, I use a wireless KB and hook a large monitor via HDMI. However, I didn't think the keyboard is that bad and the laptop screen if just fine. No touch screen, I don't use it anyway, even if it did. This laptop is very fast, on startup also. I would recommend this PC.

This laptop works great so far. I use it often for school. The thing I like about it most, is that it's very light! The least thing I like about it is the keyboard, you can't really read the keys at a certain angle. But I know my keys well, but my daughter not so much.

Great buy upgraded my self to Windows 10 Professional, Office Professional, Tren Business, it handled all the situations and multi tasking I can though it and never slows down or blinks only thing I wish the keys were lighted or darker letters on them.

Read through some bad reviews on this laptop. But this is the only laptop in this price range which offer core i7 and 12 GB ram. Keyboards do not have backlight which is inconvenient but not a show stopper.....I can do with this.... Its pretty light...easy to move around....nice overall!! Like it!!

It is a good computer. Only issues I have seen with it at this point is bad speaker placement so had to get a Bluetooth speaker so I could hear well. Also, battery life is not very long.

Never having had a laptop I thought this one looked like a good value for my needs. I took the advertisement to my IT person and he advised me that it was a good match for me that I would probably be happy with. I am very happy with it. The only thing I wish was different is the keyboard. The lettering is silver on silver which makes it hard to see the letters. I have a handicap in my hands so that I need to look at the letters as I type. Good news, bad news is that it is also really sensitive, sometimes reacting by my hovering too long without pushing anything. Otherwise this is a really nice laptop. Good memory and accurate my husband adds.

For the price this machines moves. I was surprised to see a notebook with i7 and SSD for this price. Looking at the reviews you would think the keyboard was Inoperable. If you take the time to learn the placement of the keys, which is not difficult, you will enjoy how fast this notebook response to all programs. I’m glad I made the purchase.

The computer is really good. Much faster than my older one. One negative, the speakers are on the bottom of the laptop. I have to use a bluetooth speaker when watching videos.
