I purchased the perpetual license for Pro Tools back in 2018, and shortly after they announced their introduction of a subscription only model. A monthly subscription after paying $500 (on sale) for a license was not at all appealing. This product allowed me to reinstate the 1-year plan for updates and I am now running the latest Pro Tools 2020 version. There are also posts from Avid confirming these reinstatement plans (which are only available from retailers while supplies last) will work forever. This means you can buy one and hold onto it, and upgrade to the latest version in like three years when needed. Thinking about buying another for this reason. Oh, and I paid for it over 12 months from using my Best Buy Credit Card.
