Connected really easy and is user friendly. Rooks smoothly on hard surface or carpet. They were right...This was the droid I was looking for!!!!

I was pretty impressed. It did not take too long to get used to controlling the droid. You can even slow down the speed which was really helpful in learning to control it. The sounds and the twitchy movement were very realistic to the droids in the movies. I use this on my hardwood floors and good to play with pets, although pet hair can get caught in the underside of the head, but you can easily clean it out. And it does not seem to affect the movement of the droid much. I think this is a great gift for yourself or someone else.

My BB-8 was purchased as a impulse-buy replacement for a cat. Turns out, he is just like a cat. I can set BB-8 to amble about the house, on his own, and it just kind of works for what I wanted it to do. It was smaller than I imagined when I first saw it advertised, but the size is good because it gives BB-8 more room to move and play.

Saw commercial on television prior to purchase this on Force Friday. This is one of best robot to play with all day for entire family. Love how it roll and features it has. Sadly it won't work on some carpet. If you have a smooth surface carpet, no problem. The app is what makes it more fun. Comparing this one to Hasbro, Sphero is best because the head does not fall off. Looking forward to what Stars Wars has to offer...May The Force Be With You.

My husband loves it. He takes it to his office and lets it patrol. His coworkers are all jealous. We like the little moves it does especially when it's trying to figure out where it is. The only thing we wish it had was a return to me button to call him back.

My husband really seems to enjoy playing with BB-8. I was a bit skeptical that it would hold his attention for long or that it would be worth the money but Christmas is not about the practical so I bought it for him. I have to admit, it is pretty cute when it comes poking around corners and making its robot sounds. We assume the head is being held on by a rotating magnet. This part is really cool because it makes the toy look and move like the movie character. The only thing I think would be more fun is if the person controlling it could also control the sounds it makes. Incidentally, my husband had no problem getting the app downloaded and up and running right away.

Was able to get this one as a special deal as a Deal of the Day, I believe, for a very low price. Had wanted one since seeing it some time ago. Just didn't want to spend the money of the suggested retail price. It charges with a USB cord. While on the charging stand it will sometimes move the head around as if BB is awake. Position his head where the three blue lights show up, point those lights towards you and it will appear as if he is looking around in your direction. Operating BB requires downloading an app. I have only downloaded it onto an apple device and it works fine. Was able to play one of the movies that interacts with BB. It was fun to watch BB interact with the Star Wars movie but it was hard to hear his sputters and beeps over the volume of the movie. BB moves with his head staying upright. Controlling his movements takes some practice. It works as expected on hard surfaces like a wood or vinyl floor. The BB personality does come through via the movements and noises. I am very pleased. It stays right on my desk as a novelty item.

Love BB8! The technology is amazing! He moves just like in the movie. The phone app is reasonably easy to work with. So much Fun!!!

bought this for my daughter for Christmas, she loves it. She constantly plays with it and when she is on her computer or reading she will put it in patrol mode and it roles around the house exploring and noting dangers (such as our dogs). She was especially happy when she found out the OS in her old iphone was not compatible with the app, and that she had to get a new phone, she really loved that.

BB-8 is a lot of fun. The smart phone app is easy to use. It moves well on hard floors as well as carpet.

This is an excellent, fun, and extremely entertaining little product! It captures all the quirks, adorableness, and fun of the character from the film! Emotions, sounds, realistic movement...it's all there. One word of caution: he doesn't work that well on thick carpeting, so be sure to find plenty of wood or tile flooring space for him to roam around on before you purchase. Then...bring him to life and enjoy!

We bought this for my 7-year-old son and daughter for Christmas, but I have been playing with it just as much as them! It moves along pretty well, even when transitioning from the tile part of our floor to the area rugs. It's so cute the way his head pitches when he is going, it looks just like BB-8 in the movies. I wish it had a dedicated remote instead of using my phone but I suppose having it on the phone makes firmware updates easier. Also, the sounds come from your phone, not the toy itself. Overall we love this little guy. There are many videos online that show all of the different things he can do, check 'em out!

BB8 droid by sphero comes plug and play out of the box. Go to the website to download the app on your iPad or phone. The droid moves swiftly over tile floors with small resistance on carpet. It moves its head around like the robot in the Star Wars movie. It comes with a usb cable for charging. You can easily direct BB8 with your phone or iPad using the sphero app found on their website, It has a record feature to add your own message for playback. The package contains the droid, usb cable, charging station and quick set up instructions. Sphero website has additional setup information.

This little guy is amazing. Moves around just like the BB-8 in the movie does! Really fun to play with, I just worry it might get scratched on certain surfaces. I also wished the audio came out of BB-8 and not my phone, so maybe they'll add that to future models.

Works best on hard surfaces. The BB-8 unit is fun to operate, makes life like sounds and movements. BB-8 can adapt and learn from its surroundings by using an explore feature. Looks good and is fun to play with.

Unbelievable - takes some time but you can make the little bugger move just like the online video after a bit of practice - better on phone than iPad for me...hard to believe these weren't sold out everywhere

Although this one also broke one antennae in the first 5 minutes, its a great toy for a Star Wars fan. They have already done one firmware upgrade which adds new movement.

This droid is awesome and super fun to play with. Struggles on carpet at times but on hardwood it moves very nice!

Got this item on sale and it is amazing. As an adult, I'm totally entertained and have a smile on my face. Not difficult to use and easy to pair w iPhone. My 5 yr plays w it w minimal help and can't wait to play w BB-8. Other adults who aren't into Star Wars or have gadgets immediately see how cool this BB-8 Droid is. He really is a droid, not just a toy. Way cool
