I was pretty impressed. It did not take too long to get used to controlling the droid. You can even slow down the speed which was really helpful in learning to control it. The sounds and the twitchy movement were very realistic to the droids in the movies. I use this on my hardwood floors and good to play with pets, although pet hair can get caught in the underside of the head, but you can easily clean it out. And it does not seem to affect the movement of the droid much. I think this is a great gift for yourself or someone else.

Transcends a robot toy. Engaging and fun to play with. "Eyes" face the direction it moves towards. So disarming one easily anthromophirizes BB-8. Bystanders are taken by its ease of operation. Bring it with me on trips. Scoots along quite well and can hop onto thinner rugs. Recommend taking a moment and blowing off excess carpet fiber and lint the rollers in the head track after each use. Not for smaller kids to operate. Really grows on you. More than I ever thought, indeed BB-8 Is the Droid I Didn't Know I Was Looking For!

I purchased this little guy when Best Buy had a sale ($120) the day The Force Awakens came out to Blu-ray/DVD. I have been eyeing it for some time, and have been impressed with the quality of other Sphero products I have seen. It pretty much does what is advertised. Well constructed, and the app for controls is easy to use. Just be mindful of what surface it is on, due to the fact he was super fast on my hardwood floors, and I had to turn his sensitivity down. The animals love him as he rolls around the house, just be sure to check the small wheels under his head after you are done, since it can collect human or pet hair around the them, and can be a little tedious to clean out, regardless of how clean your floors are kept. I assume the rolling plastic material, combined with the magnet for the head to stay on, builds a very slight static charge since I have to also while his main body down due to it as well. The additions of him reacting to The Force Awakens was a nice touch as well. He went insane with excitement when he saw his buddy Po Dameron and we got a kick out of it. Charming little product, and I look forward to what other additions they plan to do with the software, as well as hoping they make a larger model down the road.

I was super excited when this was first advertised, and not at all surprised when it sold out quickly. I managed to buy one Black Friday weekend, and love it. It is smaller than I expected, but that's not really a negative...until it gets stuck under the kitchen cabinets. It takes a little time to get used to the controls, but the speed and maneuverability is impressive. I've only used it on hardwood floors, so I don't know how it does on carpet. One Con - the head is very sensitive. One slight bump along a wall and it comes off. Other than that, very fun. I look forward to trying out all the features when I have time.

A définite must have for a die hard star wars fan, as in the force awakens movie, this Droid is fast and a nice gift or present to self... Works great. Only drawback, he could of been bigger.

A star wars droid that can be controlled from my iPhone?!?! Yes please! It rolls, it wanders, it beeps and boops. plus, look at it! it's so cool! It takes a bit of practice to get used to controlling it and I did find that it doesn't roll as smooth on soft carpet. On harder surfaces, it's a blast and super fast. by far my favorite is the explore mode with lets BB-8 roam around freely and bump into things. The head stays on via magnet which has a tendency to fall off if it tries to go down any steps so be careful! Also, if you get one, slowly try to remove it's head and it freaks out spinning super fast.

My entire family loves to play with this, especially my 2 year old. It works on carpeted areas but goes really fast on tile and wood floors. It is a fun and entertaining time for all.

My son was so surprised to open his BB-8 Droid at Christmas and stayed up all night learning all of the cool things it can do. We all enjoyed seeing BB-8 race into the room and make his way around obstacles. Such a fun gift.

I bought this for my boyfriend and he loved it. I almost bought the bigger version of the BB-8 Droid but after reading the customer reviews this seemed to be the better option. Definitely not dissapointed. Bb-8 makes so many cute noises. It does a few different patterns like a figure-8, Square, and circle. It has a turbo mode to go fast and when it bumps into things it recognizes it and changes course. Would reccomend for adults and kids

I bought the BB-8 Droid for my granddaughter who is a Star Wars fan. It works perfectly on tile, wood or concrete floors and it's very fast. I have to say it was a good choice.

Definitely a collectors item. A bit pricy but do so much fun to have around. Doesn't travel over carpets or bumps too well but can overcome some worth some speed.

This is a great app controlled Star Wars droid. It moves super fast, lights up, and even displays holographic messages via your mobile device.

This little guy is awesome. A bit pricey for what he actually does, but still pretty cool. You can drive him or put him in explore mode. I left him in explore mode fore a while and he mapped out my room to the point where he was going between things at high speed without touching anything. Fun to play with.

My daughter loves this toy, works great with hand gestures and the cell phone app. His little head pops off a little bit too much though and he's going fast, just pop it back on

My wife loves this little droid. The app works well with BB-8 and it goes across most surfaces pretty well. Carpet is tricky but turning BB-8 up to full speed works well. All in all its a great purchase.

When I saw this product on Facebook (from IGN), I knew I had to get it. I waited a while until the movie was out and Sphero put in all the bells and whistles. I'm glad I waited. BB-8 is a lot of fun to play with. You can control the speed that he moves and he recognizes several different phrases that are built-in. You can even get him to watch The Force Awakens with you and he'll react. Just as a caution, you have to be careful with him because one of his antennas broke off when he bumped into a door hard. This is definitely a good toy to get

My grandson and I had a lot of fun playing with this while he was here for Christmas. Seems to move pretty fast. Works better on hard floor.
