Customers often highlight the Pet Hair Eraser® Upright Vacuum's ability to pick up pet hair and its powerful suction. They appreciate its ease of use and the variety of attachments that come with it. However, some customers find it to be heavy and not very maneuverable. There are also a few complaints about the swivel feature, the brush stopping on carpets, and the loud noise level.

I am extremely happy with this vacuum and how well it works. Overall the vacuum has had no trouble picking up the dirt and dust as well as ample amounts of dog hair. The vacuum itself is extremely powerful and you will not be disappointed with how well it cleans The vacuum has some really cool extra features that make it an even better purchase. It comes with a few attachments. The first is a thin long attachment to clean in cracks and tight spaces. The unique part about this attachment is that it has a built in light that turns on when you attach it. This is ideal for locating dust and hair under furniture. The second attachment is a mini vacuum brush that spins when attached. I've seen similar attachments like this on other vacuums however, they always stopped spinning as soon as they touched the furniture. That is not the case here. This brush spins fast and grabs pet hair off the couch. I love it. The last attachment is a small double ended brush with soft bristles on one end and hard plastic bristles on the other. I'm not sure how useful this attachment is but it's there if you need it. The wand that the accessories attach to can be adjusted to two lengths. However neither is extremely long. Cleaning this vacuum is really easy. It uses some vortex technology to clump all of the dirt and hair together so that it just falls out when you click it open. I was very sceptical but, it works without fail. I wasn't sure how to group the next few features but, they are neat. The first is that the vacuum comes with a febreeze filter that makes the air smell like febreeze when you vacuum. (This is optional) it smells really good but, I'm not sure how long it will last and a new scented filter is $10. The next feature is the adjustable brush height. It can be adjusted to several levels and has an automatic shut off if it gets hung up on long carpet. A light on the vacuum turns red when this happens. The brush can also be turned off with a switch if you don't think you need it. My biggest complaint is that you have to turn a knob at the bottom of the vacuum to switch between floor and hose suction. It's not a huge problem but, it's still annoying. Overall this is a great vacuum with plenty of power and features. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good vacuum and a pet that sheds a lot of hair.

I'll preface this by mentioning that I am an owner of multiple long haired dogs for over 30 years - so I know a thing or two about dog hair! Over this period, I can't tell you how much we've spent on vacuums - and not cheap ones either - we've had Electrolux, Hoover, and multiple Mieles. On every one, I've had to get disassemble the head, get out the hobby knife, and literally cut the hair off the roller - far too often. This Pet Hair Eraser is hands down the best in terms of vacuum power and ability to keep the roller clean. In just a few passes it had begun to pick up what the others had left behind - and I could tell this since there was hair collected from pets that were long gone from the home. After 3 rooms worth of vacuuming, the canister needed to be emptied twice. It is a heavy unit - even with the roller ball head, if you're doing a lot of twists and turns to get around furniture, it does require some effort to move around. I don't want to knock it too much for that as some of the heft can be attributed to being "built well" and hopefully long lasting. It does have a 5 year limited warranty, so it seems they're standing by the product. My first actual dislike is the short hose for the hand tool. This first became evident when doing the couch, to reach both sides and the back I seemed to be always tugging the unit left, right, or backwards. And since I live in a bi-level, it's not long enough to do the stairs - I'd have to constantly move the unit along with me down the steps, and as mentioned before, it's no lightweight. The hand tool is also fairly good -sized, so it's not going to slip under the couch or tight space. Those of you that own long hairs know how often you need to take off the grill and clean under the refrigerator where all the hair gets sucked it. Our fridge is very sensitive to this, I know that when the ice cream starts to get a little soft, it's time to get under there!. I think that the addition of a thinner crevice tool along with the larger one would have served the purpose. Also, the head of the main unit with the rollers is also a bit tall as compared to other vacuums we've owned, so doesn't fit under short items as well. Don't want to complain too loudly about that, as it might be the design of it that's responsible for it working so well in picking up the dust and dirt. So overall, I'm pretty happy with the unit - the drawbacks are far outweighed by the fact that the darn thing works so well for the advertised purpose - it's been 30 years since we've had so little hair on the rug!

I bought this vacuum with the hopes that it lives up to what I saw on the commercial. It’s loud the canister is small and it did not handle well. Spend the extra money and buy a dyson.

But isn’t that what a vacuum is supposed to do? I would rate this vacuum slightly better than average. My previous vacuum was a Dyson DC28. While the Bissell is much lighter it has some pros and cons compared to the Dyson. Suction – The Bissell has slightly less suction than the Dyson DC28. It had no trouble lifting up dust and feathers/strings, but I didn’t notice any excess pet hair (I have long hair two dogs) in the bin. I should also note that my Dyson usually sucks up half the wool rug every time I run it, this did not. On the plus side I guess my wool rug will last longer. Emptying the dust bin – This is much easier than the DC28. While both offer a push button dump option, the particles seemed to dump out a lot easier from the Bissell. However, it could be noted that there was less “stuff” in the bin that I usually have in my DC28. Perhaps that made it easier, but either way it’s still easy to empty. Above the floor wand – My primary complaint with all upright vacuums is always the same. The dang hose is so taught that it makes it difficult to use the dang wand. The Bissell is so light that when I stretched the wand out it fell over, which is an enormous pain. I think all uprights tend to be subject to this. Wish some extra R&D would go into this. **Note: when the wand arrived it had a clip in it that was poorly installed and would result in the handle coming off. I had to turn the clip sideways and reinsert it into the handle. Once it was properly installed all was well. Attachments – The Bissell wins here. The Dyson came with very little in the way of attachments. The Bissell came with a nice lighted crevice tool and a great upholstery head that did a great job. However, the dang wand hose is a major PITA. (see notes above) Overall operation – The Bissell attempts to be slick with this pivoting handle/body thing. I think the Dyson Ball does this (which I don’t have). I don’t like it. Yeah it seems slick, but it makes going in a straight line difficult on uneven surfaces. I found myself banging into things a lot as it would shift directions on me. Once I got the hang of the way it moved it was easier, but still not my preferred method of control. It’s lighter so it easier to move up and down stairs which is nice. It’s rather loud and I find the controls to be a bit annoying. For instance, in order to adjust height you have to turn a toggle on the vacuum head. On the DC28 this is a push button near the handle. (no bending over and touching dusty things) Also, I should add that in order to switch from floor vacuum to wand you have to turn a dial on the lower body. (again touching dusty things) On the DC28 you merely remove the wand handle and it switches operation automatically. All in all, the DC28 (which is pretty old now) and the Bissell are pretty close in function. I would rate the DC28 a little better, but it’s a bit like comparing apples and oranges now that they aren’t both widely available at the same time. When comparing the current lot of Dyson vacuums with the Bissell there is a massive price difference. I would say that you should feel pretty good about your purchase overall. If you can spare the extra couple hundred bucks I’d totally recommend the Dyson’s as you simply get what you pay for. But since I haven’t tried the new Dyson models myself It’s a bit of a subjective statement. The Bissell should perform quite well in most situations for all users.

The first thing that made me think this was going to be a good day was that no tools were needed for assembly. YEA! Literally click click click and I was ready to go. The next thing I really like is that all the tools are stored on board. I hate to remember what safe place I chose to put them last. I think the only negative is it is a little on the heavy side. But for me this is not a huge issue and it means the motor has more mass which might be why the suction is so good. The crevasse tool has a LED light which at first I thought was a waste but as it turns out I love it. As for pet hair pick up this is great both on carpet and upholstery with the hand held power head. I was able to get more hair out even after using my old vacuum first which makes me very happy. All in all this is a well built, thoughtfully engineered vacuum.

Overall I have been very impressed with this vacuum. I was using a Shark rocket to clean my house but it wasn't getting the job done. I decided to give this one a try. Here are my pros and cons. Pros: - Light weight: It was a lot lighter than I imagined. Looking at it's size you would think it was ridiculously heavy. That wasn't the case. Very easy to lift and move around. - East to maneuver: Very easy to move around the room. Went under couches and around corners very easily. - Suction: Very good suction. I was very surprised. Coming from a shark I didn't think it would be as good but it exceeded my expectations. - Hair removal: No tangles in the brush that I have seen. This is the best feature. I hated cleaning hair from vacuum brushes. Also, very easy to empty the hair when finished vacuuming. Cons: - Can be a little complicated at times. Between all the accessories and buttons on the vacuum it can be a little cumbersome at times. - I'm not a big fan of the Febreze Odor Eliminator, maybe it's just me.

Out of the box it was very easy to assemble, so much so I didn't have to consult the directions (but I did just to make sure I got it right after the fact.). There is an option to store all the tools (LED wand and suction power head) or just the LED wand. The manual settings for carpet thickness and bare floor are on the power head. Automatic settings would be nice but I'm still young enough to bend over and change it. There is no light on the power head so watch where you are going. The power switch is located right next to the power head switch, convenient when switching from carpet to bare flooring. In order to use the nozzle you have to turn the switch, another manual operation but easily done. The unit itself is moderately heavy but the ball joint makes it a breeze to maneuver once you get used to it. Getting it to track straight takes a minute. The nozzle length would allow you to do a 1/2 set of stairs from the top or bottom. The power chord is long enough to reach a couple of rooms at once. After reading the users manual and inserting the Febreeze filter I put it to work. There are two filters and air filtration seems to be very good. I turned it on in front of sunlight coming through a window and did not detect any dust from the exhaust. I Vacuumed an area rug to start out with. There is something satisfying about seeing the dirt and dog hair being collected in the clear canister. I purposely ran over way more dog hair that would be considered normal and the wrap free roller brush seems to be just that. I also could not find any strings or rug yard wrapped around the roller. Suction from both the power head and noble with attachments is pretty good. Our regular vacuum is a Miele canister and while it is no match for that it is very good for an upright. I especially like the LED lighted wand/crevice tool. The wand burst attachment also has a silicone like brush side so picking up pet hair from upholstery is quick. The only complaint, which will only happen once unless you read this is emptying the canister. It is easy, just push a button and it all falls out. The only problem is that it also creates a dust cloud so don't do it inside. All in all for he price it is a good vacuum for those with or without pets.

I have to say, I have been very impressed with this vacuum cleaner! We have 2 long haired cats at home, as well as a sheltie puppy. So you can imagine that keeping up with cleaning up all the hair in our household can be quite a nightmare! We have hand many other brands and types of vacuums in the past...and go through TONS of lint rollers to pick up all the hair. We decided to give this a try since it was the first one we had ever seen that was specifically designed for pet hair. We had just cleaned the day before this one arrived...and we were amazed to see how much this thing picked up even after we had just cleaned. It was clear to us that out old vacuum just wasn't doing the job! This vacuum took us maybe 10-15 minutes to assemble the few parts you needed to in order to get it running. But the majority of it is assembled already in the box. The vacuum runs a lot quieter than most I have used before, but it has just as much, if not more suction power. The special brushes really do as advertised and gets the pet hair in the bin without it getting into a tangled mess around the brush roller. Speaking of the bin\..it holds a LOT, and is very easy to empty. I also love the little wand that comes with it with a LED light attached to it. That is very useful for getting in between and behind furniture. Normally you'd have to hold a flashlight in one hand to see what you are doing, and the hose in the other. This one is all in one. Overall this is a great vacuum and I would recommend it to pet owners for sure...and even if you don't have pets, its still a great vacuum! If there was one thing I didn't like about it (and this is a small gripe) its that there isn't a light on the actual vacuum itself. If they would add that...it would be perfect!
