Canon EOS R8 – A Lightweight Powerhouse
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Canon EOS R8 for fashion and lifestyle photography, paired with the RF 85mm f/2.0, and I have to say—it’s been an absolute game-changer for me. Coming from the Canon 6D, I immediately noticed how much lighter and more powerful this camera is, making it a joy to shoot with for extended periods. What I Love: Lightning-Fast Autofocus – The Dual Pixel AF II locks onto subjects effortlessly, which is crucial when working with models or shooting on the go. It makes capturing crisp, in-focus shots so much easier. Lightweight & Compact – Compared to my previous DSLR, the R8 feels way more portable without sacrificing performance. It’s perfect for outdoor shoots where I need to move around quickly. Image Quality is Stunning – The full-frame sensor delivers sharp, vibrant images with beautiful depth, especially when paired with the RF 85mm lens. A Few Drawbacks: Battery Life Could Be Better – If you’re shooting for long sessions, definitely carry extra batteries. It drains faster than I’d like, especially when using the electronic shutter or recording video. Single Card Slot – Not a dealbreaker for me, but I do wish it had dual card slots for instant backups during important shoots. Who is This Camera For? I’d highly recommend the EOS R8 as either a backup camera for professionals or a first mirrorless camera for beginners or amateur photographers. It gives you high-end performance in a lightweight body at a great price. If you can live with the battery life and single card slot, it’s a fantastic investment.

Use it in Hi (20fps) speed and youll be happy!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have several cameras and wanted to add the Canon R8 specifically for its small size and great autofocus. I am pairing it with cheap RF glass: 16, 35, 50, and 100-400 and couple of EF lenses over adapter. Image quality, while it is not as detailed as my Sony A1 (50MP) or Fuji XH2 (40MP) it is still lovely, Canon color science is awesome. Continuous RF tracking is really awesome but everyone already knows it. One complaint I hear about R8 is that if you use it in 40fps mode, buffer fills up quickly. However, what many people don't realize (and I have not heard it in any of the reviews yet) is that you can use Hi rather than Hi+ mode. Hi without a plus is 20fps instead of 40fps. 20fps is very fast, it is the speed of Sony A9 camera and it is the best Canon R5 will do for you with fresh battery (Canon R5 reduces fps if battery life falls below 60 percent). So when you put R8 into Hi, you get 20fps and your buffer is around 150 shots which is 7 seconds of burst which is all most of you would ever need. I've tested it with birds including hummingbirds dogs squirrels and autofocus outstanding. In a 20fps burst mode I shot 3600 shots on a single battery and it still showed full. I dont shoot much video so I am not going to comment on video. I did take few videos and it looks fine.

Great camera, a Canon R6 Mar II in the RP body.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my RP, great travel/video camera. I use this as a backup or when I don’t want to use the higher resolution R5. This little camera is almost pocket sized with the 50mm 1.8 on it. I find that I have it with me all the time since it’s so small. No complaints on the image quality and auto focus. My only issue is battery life. I get about 2 hours, with the camera left on and shooting stills, per battery. Definitely buy and keep with you 3 or 4 batteries if you want to use it all day.

A Great Camera for the Price
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is amazing, especially for the price. It's slim, feels great. Huge upgrade over my old Rebel. It takes great photos in low-light, with its full-frame. The video is crisp and sharp, again great in low-light. The superior full frame models have features I don't find necessary for what I do, so if you're anything like me, get the R8 as your entry-level high-quality camera or a secondary camera. The main concern people have is batter life and it is a problem for long-days or long video. It can record around 90 minute at 24fps at 4k. Any increase in framerate significantly reduces the time you can record. I solved this by buying an extra battery, for longer photoshoots. For video I got a v-mount battery and it solved all that.

BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only thing I can critique about this lens, which is a real bummer, is the battery life. Especially when taking videos it feels pretty scarce. I suppose you can counteract this with a 3rd part battery pack, which essentially triples your battery life. Other than this I absolutely LOVE this camera. Very high quality pictures and videos. Easy navigating through operations and workflow. I often heard this camera referred to as the canon R6’s you get brother, which is $1000 more. Other than the mediocre battery life and lack of IBS, which I personally don’t even notice, this camera is an absolute steal. Would highly recommend.

You can't beat it, for the price!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to go full frame after having the Sony ZV-E10 for a little over a year. I had a check list of features I wanted: * Full-frame * 4k-60 Un-cropped * Great Auto focus * $2k or Less I was looking at the Sony A7C, A7IV, R7 (even though not full-frame), and Lumix S5 ii. The A7C turned me off with the outdated features and menu system, the A7IV was just a tad more expensive than I was wanting to spend, the R7 was good, however not full-frame and I didn't want to get rid of one APS-C camera to go to another one, and so I was set on the Lumix S5 ii. I was able to give up the 4k60 un-cropped because they had revamped their auto focus system, it was full-frame, and it was JUST in the budget. Then came the announcement of the R8. Full-frame, 4k60 un-cropped, great auto focus, and for only $1500?! I immediately pre-ordered. After using it for a few weeks now I can confidently say I made a great choice. Some drawbacks include: * Small battery * No IBIS * 1 SD card slot * Overheating (in certain situations) But for $1500, you really can't beat it. The batteries are cheap, so you can easily get a few of those. Most RF lenses have stabilization, so that covers the no IBIS, 1 card slot is a slight bummer, and then of course some overheating, especially in 4k60. With a dummy battery connected to a power bank, I was able to squeeze 54minutes of continuous 4k60 out of it before it overheated. My assumption is if you use a normal battery, the heat generated by that will cause the time to go down. I've seen around 20-30mins. But who would need to continuously record for that long at 4k60, and if your use case calls for that, then this definitely shouldn't be the camera for you. But if you can deal with the 1 card slow, some overheating, no IBIS, and not the best battery life, for the price, you cannot beat it. If you need 2 card slots, a longer battery life, or IBIS, and you DON'T need full-frame, I would go with the Canon R7. And if you need all of that AND full-frame, I would go with the Canon R6 mark ii. I hope this can help some people! Happy Shooting!

Great great camera r8
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this camera. It has fantastic autofocus, feels good in the hands, and takes outstanding photos and video. It has most of the features. For professional quality photos and videos, and a camera that offers a full frame sensor, the R8 represents a tremendous value.

If focus on what you need, this could be perfect
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a Fuji user. While using my beloved Fuji XT-30, 80% of my photos are focusing on my 2-year old daughter. The rest of 20%, well, just out of focus because the kid is keep moving... I can step into Sony or Canon for better auto focus. I choose Canon because I don't have time to edit the colors (same reason for using Fuji). This camera just gives everything I need: It catches the moving subject (my daughter) 99% of the time; The color are good (not as good as Fuji though); It is an interesting new toy which relieved me from this "full frame itching". The price for RF lens? I got the 35mm for $399, 50mm for $99 and 16mm for $199. They are ugly, but fast. Luckily my subject (again, the 2 year old) will not care the noise and zoom in and out from those lens when focusing. Image quality? I can never tell any difference from any lens since I only see the photos from a 6 inch cell phone. No IBS, but I don't care. I need the shutter speed to be 1/500 at least to catch my daughter. On the other hand, it is 461g with battery and SD card. So, if you focus on what you need, this maybe the perfect for you.

||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Image quality ... just as good or better than my R6. Small compact and lots of features. My only complain is the battery life is poor. I use it an with external monitor and power as my main social media camera.

Full-frame MILC perfect for beginners and traveler
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to R6 II, R8 is smaller, lighter, and half the price, yet has nearly the same image quality. I prefer to save money before R6 series use BSI/Stacked CMOS. I also purchased a spare battery and Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R to bring my R8 closer to R6 II in battery life and control.

Canon R8 Camera
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.’ve been using the Canon R8 for a few months now, and overall, I'm pretty impressed, though there are definitely a few things I wish were different. The image quality is fantastic—honestly, it’s hard to believe I’m getting this level of sharpness and dynamic range from such a compact, lightweight camera. The full-frame sensor really makes a difference, especially when I’m shooting portraits or landscapes. Plus, it’s light enough that I can take it almost anywhere without it feeling like a burden. I love that, especially since I travel a lot

Great upgrade!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great upgrade from an old Canon T3i. This camera is super lightweight and does have a smaller body, so maybe not super ideal for large hands. But photos are crisp and functions that I've used so far have been fantastic.

The Perfect Camera for the Job!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera has helped my business grow so fast! For the last few weeks, I’ve been using this camera to help a used car dealership in Tempe, AZ, called LeSueur Car Company, to have a little bit more reach on their social media platforms! The images are crisper/sharper, and I’ve been able to successfully learn more for my own business!
