I wanted a camera that was light weight, a DSLR, interchangeable lens and take great photos......this does it all! I spent a lot of time researching cameras, when I came across the Canon sl1. At first, I thought a camera this small can't do all that, but it does! It is user friendly for beginners. It is great in low light situations. Love the versatility of using touch screen.Very fast shooting! I also didn't want to carry around a lot of lenses, so opted for the Tamron 18-270mm PZD, the all in one lens, to maintain low weight. I'm very pleased and look forward to many years 0f having fun with this little giant.

Bought this camera & it worked amazing. I own a fashion company and shot my whole catalog with this camera & a canon Prime lens. The quality and durability of a camera this cheap rivals anything else you can buy on the market today. I show my friends the camera we used and they are always in shock of the small size and big power that it has I included actual photos i took with the camera!

This camera was a replacement for a Canon Digital Rebel 300D that required repair that would cost more than it was worth, so I bought this one at Best Buy after extensive research into its capabilities vs. other Canon digital SLR cameras. I found this one to have the most "bang for the buck" in terms of features and performance, as well as a price that wouldn't break the bank. So far I have been very pleased with my purchase. I will be using it extensively on my next vacation to the North Carolina mountains via the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I love this camera! I use it not only when my family is here but I sell real estate and I have been using it for the photos I take of my listings. It is a great camera and the quality of the photos is excellent. I worry about bad lighting in rooms where there is not enough light coming in from the outdoors or too much and it seems that the camera is able to work with both of these situations. I have owned other Canons and this is the best yet. You do need to read the owners manual though.

I purchased this body as an upgrade to my original Digital Rebel purchased from Besy Buy in 2004. The features easily rival much more expensive models with the only exception being the shutter speed maxes out at 1/2000 rather than 1/4000. Certainly not worth paying twice the price for. It is also very light weight as well. If you plan to use it for movies you might consider purchasing it with the kit lens due to the speed of autofocus and noise. Overall it is a very good value for the money - dont let Canon's "entry level" label fool you.

I bought this camera for my kids to use in school, instead of them borrowing my full frame camera. We just came back from a month vacation and I ended up using the SL1 more than my 6d. It was lighter, took very nice pictures and with a ef 40mm pancake lens attached it didn't look like a dslr more like a big point and shoot. For me the best feature is the touch screen on the back. It makes adjusting your settings way faster and easier compared to my 6D.

The SL1 offers some nice features for a good price. I bought this to be a carry around camera. It is lightweight and easy to carry but still has the options of a full sized model. After many years of Sony cameras I made the change to Canon. Their lenses are as good in quality as the Sony but much cheaper. Overall I like the camera, it will do what I want... my only knock is Canon does not offer lightweight lenses to pair with the SL1

I have a 7D as my main camera with several lenses. My son showed an intrest in photography, so I purchased the SL1 body only. It has turned out to be the camera we take most every where. I use my 7D when l go out with the intent to only take photos. Bottom line what a great second camera for those who already have camera equipment or easy to use starter camera. I LIKE IT.

I went back and forth about getting the SL1, but glad that I purchased it. I already own a T3i, but wanted something more portable and this does the trick. The pictures are crispy and in line with the T3i, but I've found myself using this more because it's easy to bring around. Definitely happy with the quality, but certainly doesn't have all the bells and whistles you might be seeking.

with a child on the way my wife wanted a "good camera". i have a canon 5d mark iii and it is considerably larger and more complicated. i love it but she wanted something smaller and easier to use. i ended up going with this unit and it is fantastic. picture quality is great and it is very user friendly. she loves the size compared to my full size DSLR.

This is a great quality camera; super light and a great value. I took it to Africa for a photo safari. It accommodates all the Canon lenses that I had from a previous model. The pictures it took are excellent, and the camera was really easy to learn and use. Even the video came out great! Buy a big memory card and have some fun!

I bought this camera as a backup camera for my 60D and as a second to save constantly changing lenses while shooting nature shots. I like it so well it has become my primary camera over my 60D. This is the camera I grab when leaving the house. It exceeds the expectations I had when I made the purchase.

I bought this SL1 mainly for a second camera, I already own a Canon 6D along with various L series lenses. I went for just the body as I did not need the kit lens. Perfect for a beginner or someone like myself who has been a Canon guy since the mid 90's. At time of purchased I also picked up the Canon 24mm pancake lens too.

I wanted something smaller than my Canon 5D Mk III which was easier to carry when hiking or biking. This fits the bill. I can use all my lenses with it but normally have a Tamron 18-270 on it. I like the high ISO range so I can eliminate the need for using the pop-up flash in most situations.

I've been using my Canon Rebel T3i and I love it, but it's too bulky to carry around all the time. I love the SL1 for it's compact size and that it's lightweight. It's simplified and doesn't have all of the bells and whistles, but it takes high quality photos of similar quality and I'd rather carry this one any day of the week.

purchased this camera as an upgrade for the video capability; I also own a Rebel xti. Been pleased with the ease of use, image and video quality. Size is good too; a little smaller than my xti, which is nice when you're traveling and wearing it a lot during the day.

Got this camera as a second camera and it has quickly become my #1 camera. Love the editing features built-in to the camera and live camera mode. Such good clarity in the images as well. Plus, it is super light, even with the 70-300 mm lens attached.

The sl1 manages to be easy to function and comfortable in my large hand even with its small size. I don't hit buttons unless I want to, and not the wrong button either. Great choice as an intro dslr for someone young perhaps.

My first DSLR camera and I'm not disappointed. Easy to use, lightweight. Still need to figure out all the functions to use it properly, but even as a glorified point and shoot, my pictures turned out great.
