The Denon is an amazing compliment to our home theater. The sound is crystal clear and very powerful. It's just like being in the real theater.

I install A/V for my customers and when they want something reliable and cost effective I select this unit. I bought 3 of them last month and everybody is happy! Setup is a breeze, power is good and price is great. It even has Bluetooth which I have used to connect both Android (my favorite) and Apple without a hitch. Good device.

Sound quality and power is quite good. Makes watching movies on blue-ray or from streaming channels feel like I'm actually at the movie theaters. Easy to set up, clearly marked hdmi ports in the rear. Easy to stream music from my apple devices via Bluetooth over the Denon.
Only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is no ARC, so you will need an optical cord to run sound from a smart tv to the Denon.

I've been a Denon fan for years, decades actually. When it came time to transport my audio (and video) self into the 21st century, I thought "Denon", went to my local Best Buy store. The personnel at the Burnsville store were knowledgeable and confirmed that Denon is still top-drawer equipment. That was good to hear -- so many of yesterday's good names have disappeared or dramatically fallen from "good" to "not so good".
I don't need high power and lots of fancy features and I certainly didn't want to spend tons of money. (I'm an old retired guy who just likes music and wants to listen to it on good equipment), so I chose this model. It has all the features I want (although I do wish it had manual base / treble / midrange knobs, but then those have become pretty rare in today's world). Sounds great and definitely did not disappoint. I'd definitely buy it again.

Although many of the bells and whistles are missing (ie not implimented in firmware- you cannot rename an input name) the base surround sound is far superior to Yamaha branded receivers (by my ears)- as well as the User interface is superior. A solid amplifier, easy to setup and great sound. You cannot rename the inputs which is somewhat juvenile by Denon, but its a small price to pay for an otherwise solid low entry receiver. You will not be dissappointed.

This is a great receiver for the price. I have a Sony 5.1 speaker system and it works seamlessly with this. I love the performance. Very effective with a PS4, an Apple TV and a standard DVR. The sound is unmatched. I used to own a Yamaha before this, and its safe to say I would never go back. I would certainly recommend this to all you sound geeks out there. Totally worth the money.

Even though it lacks a few features like ARC and Atmos, it's still is a cinch to unbox and setup. Really cut down on tweaking time with the included microphone to attune to the room.

This audio/video receiver works beautifully with my Samsung LED HDTV, and my compact Bose home theater system that has 5 small Front, Center and Surround speakers, and a built-in Subwoofer and amplifier that splits and routes the audio spectrum itself. So you want to configure the Denon Receiver for Large front and surround speakers and no Subwoofer. That's easy to do with the built-in Speaker Manual Setup process, as is setting individual speaker levels. That level adjustment menu allowed me to find a loose connection in my speaker wiring that I had not noticed before The on-line Setup Assistant will take you through all the connections, and after that you use the Setup button on the remote to modify the Speaker configuration. You can adjust bass and treble anytime easily with the OPTION remote button menu to make a realistic theater sound from any source, with plenty of power. With 5 HDMI inputs, this unit will support all your HD input needs. Only one minor complaint: switching HDMI inputs occurs slowly enough that my HDTV complains that there is no signal during the switch-over. That message goes away and normal operations proceed soon enough that this is only a minor inconvenience.

My 8 year old Denon Reciever crapped out unexpectedly so I needed something cheap and easy to setup. I'm an audiophile who use to attend Chicago Audio Society meetings so I've heard the best of the best. I use to own Marantz Monoblocks and stand alone tuners when money was no object. I've also went the tube amp route too. So when I purchased this unit I wasn't expecting very much in the way of performance. After a very easy setup, I was amazed how much better this unit performed then my old Denon! I still use my Von Schwiekert speakers in a 5 way design with a Paradigm Subwoofer. So 700 watts is plenty of juice for these speakers and the clarity is just amazing for music and movies. The Bluetooth feature is also great to use with an IPad as I have most of my music on it. For only $279 it is an amazing product.

Clear, distortion free sound. Plenty of power for a decent size room, I rarely turn it up past 70 (I think it goes to 100), and I like my movies loud. I took a star off for having cheap wire clips, even at this price range it should have the type that screws in (even my cheap speakers have screw in terminals).

Simple to set up, and easy to use. What else can be said beside great sound for little money.
Has all the connections for your games system, cable box, etc all via hdmi, or coaxial for a smart tv hook up.
More than enough power to shake your house

I replaced my several year old Integra receiver (approx $450 new) with this much upgraded Denon In-Command AVR-X3100W and WOW, what a difference/improvement in both sound & video processing. It does everything better, hands down. This unit listed at $1000, I bought it at my local Best Buy for $850 and two days later went back for a price match from several online stores at $499. Now at sub-$500 this receiver is a no-brainer. I am very happy with this quality receiver.
