This smart thermostat that gives me what I was looking for without sacrificing my privacy. It is very easy to configure and change when I want (even from an Apple Watch). It gives me reports on a monthly basis to help me manage my costs. It also can give me an alert if my heating fails (important in the winter if I am on vacation and I am worried about pipes freezing). It also doesn't collect information about when I am actually moving around in my room or when I am away. That is a privacy and security issue which stopped me from buying some other units.

The Ecobee was very simple to install and I like that I can make changes from my cell phone.

This product works great and with current utility rebates was nearly free SMUD + PGE. Easy set up and one tip is the iPad app has more features than the iPhone app.

I traded my Nest to a co-worker so I could upgrade to this thermostat and have mixed emotions. First, the good - The HomeKit integration is what I had desperately been missing from the Nest and I love to be able to bark commands at Siri to make adjustments. It does the job of heating and cooling the house just fine. Now for the bad - The user interface is far inferior to Nest as is the setup process. While not horrible, it just wasn’t as pleasant an experience as working with the Nest. Once everything is setup and fine-tuned it’s ok but just lacks the polish of the Nest OS. Maybe an update will address this, but until then, if you don’t need or use HomeKit then go with Nest.

We really like our Ecobee3 Lite. It has various programs and settings. It works well with the app and Apple HomeKit run through an Apple TV. We can raise and lower the temp remotely on our mobile devices and check to ensure a program is running.
