I have an Ecobee4 downstairs and really enjoy the Alexa functionality, but voice control wasn’t needed in the upstairs hallway, so I got the less-expensive 3. It does everything the 4 does, but you can’t talk to it. You can, however, talk an Alexa elsewhere in the house and control it. So far, so good.

The Ecobee if a very easy to use smart device. The app works well. Very pleased

Easily connects to wifi and has a nice feature set. Takes a bit of getting used to how it wants to be setup with some of the sensors and follow me logic. Once you play with it for a while, it becomes pretty clear. I have 3 installed in the same house and they use a common config, however they are not too inteligent about each other device. I'm not exactly sure how it should work, but it seems that a house with 3 ecobees would have some heating/cooling coordination between the different units. Information on website portal and mobile app is really good.

Really like the thermostat. Had some issues installing (dual label issue from old thermostat) and a call to tech support and they very quickly figured out the issue and walked me through fixing it. I wish more products had that kind of customer support. The usage of the actual product has been great. Easy, intuitive app and interface.

I've had this product for a while now and thought I would give it a long term review. My Ecobee works exceptionally well; I love its simplicity but also the ability to make fine adjustments if you prefer to get down into the weeds. My only issue with this product is that every few days their server gets too many hits and I am unable to control it remotely for a few minutes (please try again later message). The problem goes away after a few minutes but it is annoying.

Read the features and see if it does what you want (compared to the Nest). Quality, ease of use, and customization options are great. It does allow you to respond to occupied spaces, but it is not a true learning thermostat. If you just want a smart thermostat with easy to set heating/cooling times and levels, then this is a great choice.

User interface isn’t as intuitive as the Nest thermostat however I am able to tell Siri to turn on/off the a/c which is the only reason I purchased it.

Fairly easy installation but had issues with the heating. Called ecobee customer support, and after answering a couple of questions, the tech identified the wire that was wired incorrectly and issue resolved. Turns out the original thermostat was wired differently than how it needed to be wired for ecobee to work correctly.
