Looks nice enough though really basic, and is fairly easy to navigate. Some things you want to look at you have to use your account website and not the app. But 8 months after purchase, it sometimes won't turn on. Middle of winter and wake up with the house at 60 degrees or less. Have to turn it on and off multiple times. Support is a joke. Spend hours walking through the same steps, HVAC guy says there's nothing wrong with my furnace, It's definitely the ecobee thermostat. Ecobee support asked for that in writing. I said I don't have it in writing, he just wants to change out the thermostat. Won't send a replacement, won't offer any solutions, just go through the steps. Sometimes I have to turn my thermostat on and off 10 to 15 times to get it to trigger the temperature. Not fun to be below zero and come home from work to a freezing house and dogs. Often with no warning from the app that temps are down in the house.

Solid, nice product. Id prefer it if google nest options were as good for more seemless integration but this also works. Significantly the hvac guys called the nest ones hockey pucks ("great software, bad hardware"), So i took the advice and am happy on the software side, so its a win.

This is a great thermostat. It has all the smart features you should need, and the HomeKit integration works great! I did notice small energy savings but nothing significant. The only feature I wish it had would be the ability to schedule out multiple weeks. My wife has a work schedule that changes week to week, so building out a month’s schedule would be nice. Don’t get me wrong, you can build a weekly schedule but it will just repeat every week.

Certainly a good looking sleek thermostat that not only looks smart, it will compliment just about any room you install it in. The touchscreen is fluid to your touch without skipping a beat. In the box this is what I received: thermostat, screws set, wall plate kit, power kit, welcome information booklet and labels. DIY installation: My installation was not easy and I’m an electrician but I don’t think it should stop anyone interested to not buy it. Just do more research to check compatibility (ecobee have a link https://www.ecobee.com/compatibility), take pictures of your current thermostat wiring and ask questions. After several attempts of getting my new ecobee enhanced thermostat to work with my central air unit I decided to reach out for help using the chat feature. The problem I was having was warm air was blowing when I had the temperature on cool. The representative suggested I try his wiring diagram which I tried but since it was the same I received the same results. He then asked me for information on my air handler wiring. I and told me I might have to reconfigure the ecobee thermostat. I checked the settings and voila. There it was a reconfiguration screen. My system and thermostat appears to be working properly now. I do have to thank the different representatives that helped especially during a holiday weekend. ecobee enhanced thermostat: It is sleek and it sense when you are in the room to make sure the temperature is set to your comfort settings. I do plan on adding a smart sensor to my bedroom so it can possibly regulate the temperature better. My upstairs is usually warmer than downstairs and the ecobee might be the right solution to keep the temperature similar throughout my home. ecobee App: The ecobee app is easy to use and I was able to sync it with my thermostat in a few minutes. Using the app I can adjust the temperature from anywhere. I’m able to set schedules and my ideal comfort level. Sometimes when I open the app it takes a moment to populate the information but I’m not sure why it hesitate. Not only can I use the ecobee app to adjust the ecobee enhance thermostat, I can use HomeKit and my Google assistant. Overall I like the ecobee enhance thermostat. I think for the extra money get the premium since it is a better value with the added features. I also want 1 smart sensor but it is only sold in a 2 pack. The price of a 2 pack is about 40% of the premium price. I can see me going away for a few days and know that the ecobee thermostat will do it’s job while I’m on vacation. I’m curious to see how the monthly report will be compared to my older thermostat by another brand. So far this is only a minor upgrade to what I was use to but I get excited with new technology. The HomeKit integration is perfect and it allows me to enjoy my experience more when making quick changes away from the thermostat. So to sum it up I think the installation could easier and the smartsensor should be included with the ecobee enhance take the price down for the smart sensor or have a price for 1 smart sensor.

Great updated truly smart “Smart Thermostat”. Had an older Smart thermostat model that frequently dropped wifi, would demand new filters 5 minutes after changing the filter, and other inconveniences. This installed in 9 minutes, and looks sleek and modern. My old thermostat looked like a calculator taped to the wall. My family says the Ecobee looks like Eve from WallE. I think it looks like an AppleWatch stuck to the wall. Anyway, enough about its sleek looks. This thing is super intuitive to use, the app is clean and no-filler, and it recognizes Google Home quickly and stays connected. My only gripe is Apple’s HomeKit refuses to acknowledge it’s a compatible device, despite it having HomeKit built in. I tried every reboot, reset, and troubleshooting guide I can find and nothing. Maybe the device is still too new? Oh well, it works with google, which is what the majority of my home is connected with, so I’m good for now. Did I mention how great it looks? Very simple, easy to read display and just looks amazing. Definitely going to recommend this to friends and family. The days of ugly thermostats are gone!

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced joins the Smart Thermostat Premium in updating Ecobee’s lineup. Prior to this Ecobee just had the Ecobee 3 Lite since it had discontinued the rest of their lineup awhile back. I was a current Ecobee 3 Lite user prior to getting the Enhanced so I was at least familiar with this setup. The time it took to make the upgrade from the Lite to the Enhanced was around 10 min. The first thing to look at before getting the thermostat is to take a look at your current system. Ecobee has a nice compatibility checker on their website that has you look at your current panel to determine compatibility. My system was a conventional furnace and outdoor AC condenser setup. The Enhanced supports 24V systems that are conventional (like mine), heat pump, boilers, etc. For sure double check their support pages and ensure you have a compatible system. I originally had a different smart thermostat installed for years that hit EOL for its servers, so I replaced it with the Ecobee 3 Lite. My original thermostat setup did not have a C wire, so I had to use a compatibility kit on my old smart thermostat. Installing the Lite required using the PEK (power extender kit) to adapt my wiring to add a C wire at the thermostat. This required me to basically reverse the install of my old smart thermostat compatibility kit. Pro-tip: take lots of pictures of all the connections and save them somewhere for future reference (my pics were from 7 years and 3 phones ago). Once I had it reset back to default I installed the PEK onto my furnaces circuit board. The circuit board had a labeled terminal block so the connection was easy to make. Installing the Ecobee 3 Lite is identical to installing the Enhanced – I reached out to support and they told me the PEK’s are the same. Since I had the Ecobee 3 Lite it was just a matter of replacing the trim plate and thermostat body on the wall. I updated the labels and made the switch in about 10 minutes. The only thing that was unfortunate about the install was the holes for the Lite and the Enhanced don’t line up, so I had to drill a new hole and tap in another drywall anchor. The backplate has a bubble level so its easy to align for install. Comparing the Lite and the Enhanced – I like the updated looks of the Enhanced over the Lite. The trim plate (which I need to use) looks a little cleaner and has a more appealing shape than the one that comes with the Lite. The overall shape of the thermostat is basically the same, and the biggest appreciable difference is the display. The display size is almost double the screen on the Lite and is easier to read. The graphics and text look great and the interface is easy to use. Using the Enhanced has been a good experience. The larger screen is much easier to use and navigate. I used the companion app to configure my schedule. I left Eco+ enabled so I could take advantage of the scheduler and the smart home/away feature. My schedule is pretty unpredictable since I am not consistently going into the office. I created my schedule with the anticipation of being in the office everyday. However, the smart home/away feature uses the occupancy sensor (something the Lite doesn’t have) to keep my house temperature stable on days I work from home. Previously I had to tell the thermostat to hold a temp manually (both the Lite and my first smart thermostat were this way). I often left home without switching off the hold, and unnecessarily wasting energy and money. For me the occupancy sensor was one of the biggest reasons for the upgrade, and I think it will eventually pay for itself in energy savings. It also integrates well with my Google Home ecosystem. I have been able to use the voice commands on my Google Home speakers, and the change is implemented straight away. I am currently traveling for work so I configured the vacation mode. It allowed me to toggle off my heat/ac components for the duration of my trip. But it did have any option to cycle the system fan for a specified amount of time, which I really appreciate. I hate returning home to stale smelling house, when all it needed was some occasional air movement to keep it smelling fresh. This fan mode should go a long way to alleviate this problem. I set my fan to run for 10 min every hour, while also allowing the temp to exceed my setpoint by turning off the AC. You can configure your setpoint, but it will require you to keep your AC/heat components on. I liked the display readout for the weather info. My kids like to look at this feature every morning, so they know what to expect for the day. My only gripe I that I would love to have a snippet of the weather readout on the main display along with the inside temp. I think it would be a beneficial addition to the user interface, and its one of the things I miss from my first smart thermostat. Performance wise I have found that the Ecobee thermostats keep a more consistent temp in my house and doesn’t cycle the system as often. The Enhanced does a better job of this than the Lite due to that occupancy sensor and reducing my need to set hold temps. I only ran into 1 issue with the install. I setup the thermostat, but when I did I guess I didn’t configure the timezone right. You cannot adjust this on the thermostat, or in the app. Instead you have to login to Ecobee’s website (using the same login from the app), and adjusting it there. Kind of weird to bury it there. Overall, the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced is a great choice for a smart thermostat. If I was shopping and comparing the Lite and the Enhanced I would probably jump up to the Enhanced. The price difference isn’t huge, but still significant. I would make the jump for the improved look, larger screen, and the occupancy sensor. The occupancy sensor along with smart home/away are really useful features for me due to my slightly erratic home schedule.

    Great Thermostat with Fantastic software

so we all know what a thermostat does - it tells the ambient temperature and controls a unit to either heat or cool to a desired temperature. Its that simple! But what makes a great thermostat? First off the is he design of the device and how it looks on the wall. I replaced another touchscreen color unit with this. Albeit the other did display more information this design is simple and direct - It shows the relative humidity, ambient temperature, and the target temp. It does display the time, but that seems to go away via motion detection every time I walk up on it. So its basically useless to me where my stat is located. You then can dive in and get local weather and a 4 day forecast. The display does appear to be color but is mostly always in minimal setup with limited colors white/blue over the black face. So now lets talk about why this unit costs what it cost. And that is the software. you install this from the app/play store. You know the drill by now! It then walks you through setup, no need for a manual. They do a great job of ensuring you don't mess up. The app walks you through actually taking pictures of you old wiring so you can refer to it if needed! I've installed many before and do this but the app actually prompts you to! GREAT FEATURE to make this easy! once you setup your account and get the stat installed - its syncs and connects to wifi and pulls the weather. you can stop here and set temp. But thats no fun! Automation is the way! so lets set a schedule - you get 3 prompts but you can add more if needed - wake/sleep/home straight forward here - i like it a few degrees colder while I sleep, it warms up when i wake - rinse and repeat daily. I work from home, but if you leave for work - you can set an away temp so your not cooling the house while its empty! Then you can configure the eco+ settings. These are settings that help you save money on your bills! Smart home & away = uses a motion sensor to determine occupancy and adjust temps Schedule assistant - helps adjust your schedule more accurately - think home/away times Humidity adjust - adjusts temps based on humidity!! great for winter when heat dries the air and gets nippy Time of use Rate - i don't have this in my area - but this aligns to your provides and cools/heats at the cheaper rates times Finally you get alerts - high temp/low temp/low humidity - you can set these to desired levels You can also get all this via the app or website - on the website you also have geek data its under Home IQ - I haven't run the unit long enough to generate the first report - but the report is supposed to show Monthly unit run time(heat/cool) Community comparisons, and efficiency numbers
