This thermostat was a replacement for an older model ecobee. Since Siri is built right in, I am hoping I don’t have the frequent and random disconnects (not responding) from HomeKit that plagued the old one. Setting up the thermostat was a breeze after the installation which was anything but. Physical installation took close to two hours and I didn’t even have to mess with the wiring and labels since they were already on the wires from the old thermostat. We live in a one year old home and the A/C wire comes through a box that you would use for an electrical outlet. Unfortunately, the spacing of the screw holes in the mounting bracket is not as wide as a standard electrical box. Additionally, both the mounting bracket and the back plate (used to cover the hole and any wall blemishes behind the thermostat) are smaller than the old one. I ended up only being able to secure the mounting bracket with one screw. I then had to drill a hole through the back plate in order to be able to use another screw to keep it balanced and secure. As I said earlier once the physical installation was completed, setup was a breeze. I used my iPhone. The thermostat gives you a few options to set it up including adding it to my home WiFi. The simplest is to use a portable device and the my ecobee app (which also provides installation and wiring assistance). You scan the QR code with the ecobee app and the app walks you through the entire process, including adding sensors. It took less than 15 minutes to get up and running. I was very surprised when it even somehow took me to HomeKit and apparently installed the connection automatically. I’m hopeful given that it did that. The ecobee is sleek and very modern looking. The thermostat itself is very easy to use, intuitive, yet loaded with options and features. However, we rarely use it because the iPhone and iPad apps are so convenient and control anything that you can at the thermostat, from anywhere in the world. It is a very nice thermostat. Only wish they had provided more physical installation options.

I like it better than the other major maker of the learning thermostat. This one does not try to outsmart you on what your heating/cooling schedule should be. It lets you set the schedule. This one is also better at controlling to the set temperature, it usually stays +/- 1-2 degrees. The other can be +/- 4 degrees. The remote sensor works perfectly. It was easy to install. I like that the temperature in always on/visible. I'd buy again.

Works great, EX to setup....the main features are perfect with auto program for timing-temps. Clean air indicator is helpful. Only thing I did not like is Android-Google is not as robust as options with Alexa

Gave a 4 star because I’ve not had in operation too long. I’ve had Ecobee 6 or 7 years ago. A storm came through and caused the contactor on my outside unit to go bad. That somehow got my last Ecobee. I then purchase a Nest smart thermostat. The Nest and I had a love-hate relationship. Let’s just say I don’t much care for its programming. I bought the new Ecobee because the new AC equipment I had installed could utilized some of the features. The Premium comes with a small remote temperature sensor. I have this in the bedroom, which tends to be cooler than the rest of the house in the winter. The sensor will send the temperature of the bedroom to the main unit. Then it will adjust the temperature to the entire house to the comfort level set in the bedroom. So far, the main unit and remote sensor works well. It is a little pricey. It was on sale for about $40 less but I missed the sale by one day.

I love my Ecobee! It gives you full control over the temperature in each room. The touch screen is responsive, and it works seamlessly with Siri, Alexa, Google, and Apple Home to control your settings. It helps optimize energy savings with Eco+, and even monitors air quality and humidity levels, providing helpful insights on how to improve them. The app is very detailed, offering clear recommendations on how to get the most out of your system. Adjusting the temperature is simple, and the display is big and bright. It was also extremely easy to install. I came from using a Nest, but for me, Ecobee gives much more control and detailed information and everything set up just the way I like it.

I received this ecobee to replace a much older generation one. Ecobee still has all of the features you'd want in a smart thermostat, but its killer feature is still the ability to have remote sensors. This allows for it to track the presence of people and the temperature in a room where the thermostat itself isn't located. This is crucial for a multi-story home! This specific model comes with one remote sensor, which I put in my bedroom on the opposite side of the house and one floor up from our thermostat. It takes that bedroom into account when I head to bed, which is great from an energy efficiency perspective because then I'm not paying to cool or heat the bedroom when I'm not in it. The Alexa built-in feature didn't work initially, likely due to poor wifi signal where my thermostat is located, but I'm working with support. They've been very helpful and responsive so far. Combine this with the ability to remotely control your temperature or set vacation holds, and it's nearly a perfect thermostat. My only complaint is that I think I need to get more remote sensors now because I want that benefit throughout my house!

Best device! I used to have a Nest 1st generation and was losing connectivity all the time to Wifi. Deviced to buy this one on a sale and I love it. Very easy to install, lots opf information provided like weather and air quality. The looks of the device is very nice and minimalist, looks great in our wall. The best is that provides a lot fo options to expand to other devices around the house

This is a fantastic thermostat. It's easy to install, quick to setup once it is hooked up. The configuration is somewhat detailed, setting up "comfort modes" for desired temperatures, then scheduling those modes for various time frames. After a month of use, you will be able to access very detailed online metrics for HVAC usage, temperatures, and compare it to data from other homes in your region. The remote sensor essentially allows you to use the average of the two temperatures as the "current" temperature, which your system will heat or cool the average temperature to your desired setpoint. With the sensors you now have for occupancy, these can also serve as the base unit for additional sensors that tie together into a security system with activation and deactivation done via code on the thermostat. This does require a subscription, though.

This is hands down the best smart thermostat, and is worth the money. I have never liked the Google Nest due to it's clunky interface, which makes it a frustration to use in my opinion. The Ecobee Premium is the top of the line model, and it's features are great. The touchscreen is very responsive, the installation is guided and easy, and the ability to have sensors to balance out the temperature throughout your home, especially in older homes, is a must. The added features of checking the weather, and a built-in air quality sensor to tell you if CO2 and VOC levels are healthy, is amazing. It even has a built-in speaker that allows you to stream Spotify, and can get pretty loud to boot! I can't recommend this thermostat enough! Buy it!

I am almost done upgrading my smart home to Homekit so I was excited to see a good looking eco bee product. I am coming from a 3rd gen nest thermostat which is also good but the eco bee has a lot of great features that the nest ones dont. I love the air quality monitor and the new big screen. With the eco bee + theres lots of great things but I wanted this thermostat mainly to notify me if it hears a fire alarm so I can save my cat incase of an accident when im not home.

This new Ecobee is so great. Picked it up the day after release at my local BB which had it in stock and couldn’t wait to install it. It was replacing a prior ecobee model with voice assistant. It now monitors air quality (including CO2), seems to have quicker responsiveness with Alexa (without the blinking top lights - now its integrated in the face), and seems to be more accurate in temperature readings and detecting occupancy. Like the new look - fully smooth front (now you don’t have that small sensor pad) and brushed metal outer cover — looks more like a higher end thermostat should look. Because I had a prior ecobee, installation was quick just install new back plate, reconnect the wires to the right terminals (luckily I left on the provided wire markers from the prior install), follow on screen instructions after it wakes - connect to your wi-fi, add it to the ecobee app (if you use it - as I do), connect to Alexa and your done! You can also connect all your prior room sensors (even the older ones) and you get one with the thermostat as well. The eco+ home/away features can save you money by adjusting the temp when the sensors detect you are not home instead of having to guess about setting a program regime. Eco+ has other great features for those that can take advantage of same. After about a month, I can definitely say its worth the upgrade!

It was easy to install and is working great. I was following the app installation instructions and after putting in current wire connections it directed me to call the support line. I was quickly connected with a support rep over the phone who then walked me through the entire installation process. It took less than an hour to install the old thermostat and get this one up and running. The remote sensor has been great at regulating temperature throughout the house. My front office gets much warmer than the rest of the house and this has helped a lot.

    Ecobee vs. Nest

I have been a happy longtime user of the Nest Thermostat until the dreaded day support was ripped away. I don’t mean support stopped but all functions continued to work. It would continue as a manual, but all remote and voice functions stopped working. I had enough because on a very cold below zero night the Nest stopped working because someone decided an additional wire was needed to work. I am done with Nest after they forcefully broke an expensive thermostat. My son convinced me to get an Ecobee thermostat. This install couldn’t have been simpler. There is a definite learning curve to use the higher function programming on the Ecobee. I invested the time and effort and quickly learned to love the added features such as current weather, built-in Alexa and especially the remote sensors. The price was painful but I am very happy now that I’ve made the move. My dog hates change and isn’t happy about Alexa in the hallway, but I’m a fan because it now provides voice coverage from the bedroom to the living room and kitchen. Yes, I am an admitted tech geek, but I still can strongly recommend the Ecobee thermostat for those less technically inclined. There are numerous help videos available for anyone needing a little help getting the Ecobee thermostat up, running and keeping you cool or warm. Enjoy!

I’ve been using the ecobee Premium Smart Thermostat for over 2 years now, and it’s easily one of the best smart home upgrades I’ve made. It’s incredibly accurate, easy to use, and has saved me a noticeable amount on energy bills—especially during peak summer and winter months. The touchscreen is sleek and responsive, and the integration with Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant works flawlessly. I also love the remote sensor that helps maintain consistent temperatures throughout the house. The scheduling, eco mode, and smart features really do make a difference. Set it and forget it—ecobee handles the rest. Highly recommend for anyone looking to modernize their home and reduce utility costs.

I have been an Ecobee4 user for the last 5 years now and when I saw that they made some “significant” enhancements, I knew it was worth the test to see if it’s worth upgrading. More below. Pros: *Easy to install *Sleek design *Smart as smart gets. Works with Alexa, Siri, IFTTT Cons: *Expensive and can take time to recoup cost *Some features are buried in menus *Not a smart display or speaker replacement Some of the new changes are the larger screen, better speaker, radar sensors and air quality metrics. The installation for me was super easy as all of my thermostat wires were labeled from the prior install. I was bummed that the backing plates weren’t compatible so I had to drill new holes but it was still super easy. App setup was also easy and I'm glad that my room sensors worked with the new version. The “smartness” is among the best out there. I love the “smart follow” feature where the thermostat knows which room I’m occupying or not occupying and runs the HVAC to maximize my comfort settings. The more room sensors you get, the smarter it becomes. It does come with 1 sensor to help you get started so be prepared to shell out another $100 for 2 more sensors. The Ecobee also knows when you’re gone and will adjust your thermostat accordingly. This is far more advanced than running a regular schedule. The graphic user interface is simplistic and sometimes too simplistic. My only gripe is the software and not the actual hardware. For one, I would like the thermostat to behave more like a smart display and not “just” a thermostat. Show me customizable clock faces or the name of the song that it’s playing, etc. So much wasted screen space for just the room temp that has me longing for more content. Show me a news headline or a light hearted joke! Ecobee I hope you’re listening! In summary, I do like the larger screen and the air quality metrics but after the newness wore off, the larger screen no longer really mattered as a proper thermostat is a set-it-and-forget-it system. Air quality isn’t numerical values and it's buried in the menus to see. I would recommend the latest Smart Premium if you currently don’t have a smart thermostat and would love full app control of your heating/cooling. I would skip it if you're coming from an Ecobee4 or newer thermostat as the differences are not drastic enough to swap.

We came home from a trip to discover our house was 96 degrees inside. Seems the thermostat had died and left the system turned on for days. We, of course, didn't know this because it was an older style non-smart one. We decided to upgrade to a smart thermostat so we could monitor system use anywhere. We chose this one because it is a very secure one that will not easily allow itself to be hacked by outside entities. (Friends in cyber security chose this one after researching records and so we trusted his advice) This system is doing a great job of keeping the house comfortable, switching between heat and AC as needed and letting us know on our phone and by email whenever things seem wrong (Like long time on emergency heat when it is very cold out) and the sensors even can tell us when our air quality is getting bad. The app is intuitive and very informative. I would certainly recommend this thermostat and suggest they get at least 1 extra sensor like we did.

so far so good. its esy to use once you understand how it works. i had to contact customer support, and they are very friendly and very helpful. installation was pretty easy IF you have an understanding of what kind of heating and cooling system you have. the install directions are very clear and thorough. easy to connect to wifi and to register. the directions will walk you thru all of it. plus, if you register with your electric/gas company, it may get you a rebate. mine has been installed well over a week now, and been working great. the app is easy to use, programming takes a bit to get used to, but not bad. the satellite sensor works nice also, just keep it away from heat sources as it will give it a false reading.

This is a pretty good thermostat. The included remote sensor helped us with the issue that the front door (near the thermostat) gets very hot in the afternoons: the remote sensor put in a bedroom helps the system to realize about this and won't run the A/C for so long. This thermostat has a humidity sensor, if the whole behind the thermostat has too much air (is not sealed), this humidity sensor will pick up humidity from the other room (in this case, the garage), and it would alter how it works. Sealing the whole with some insulation or foam or caulk or similar would solve this problem (I just put some insulation I had around). You might also need to adjust the temperature sensor offset on the thermostat, that's an option on the thermostat. I used a Sensirion smart gadget (temperature + RH sensor) and calibrated the thermostat with it, but I guess most any thermometer would to. After doing that: it is simply excellent. I really like that it compensates the temperature based on the humidity and this maintains comfort while saving some money and not over-cooling. The app is easy to use, and you can integrate this with Alexa (easily) and also Google Home and seems like it should work fine with Home Kit (but I have not tested this one). All in all, I am glad we purchased this one. Hopefully ecobee won't follow Google's steps in selling your data (ecobee does not seem to sell your data at this point). I also really like the multiple schedules you can set (a bit more complicated than home/away approach), you can have several different temperatures throughout the day or for different days of the week. Last but not least, that remote temperature sensor: it is also a motion sensor, so it can sense when rooms are empty and if you have sufficient of those you can enable a sort of "follow me" function to ignore other sensors and adjust comfort where you are. If you are on the fence: go for it! it is money well spent.
