After moving to Northern California I noticed my house did not have a very good thermostat. I did some research and like the features and flexibity that ecobee had to offer. In my main house, I decided on the Ecobee Premium. It had lots of great features and came with an external senso I placed in our bedroom.
Installation was pretty easy - even though my existing thermostat did not have a C wire. The included PEX adapter was easy to install at the furnace and allowed the Ecobee Premium to get power and work.
I paired Ecobee to my Amazon account and was surprised how well the Alexa function works on the Ecobee!
I have been running the Ecobee Premium for a few weeks now and it has be doing great.
Glad I bought it.
Excellent.Installation could need extra steps:read

This is a pretty good thermostat. The included remote sensor helped us with the issue that the front door (near the thermostat) gets very hot in the afternoons: the remote sensor put in a bedroom helps the system to realize about this and won't run the A/C for so long.
This thermostat has a humidity sensor, if the whole behind the thermostat has too much air (is not sealed), this humidity sensor will pick up humidity from the other room (in this case, the garage), and it would alter how it works. Sealing the whole with some insulation or foam or caulk or similar would solve this problem (I just put some insulation I had around).
You might also need to adjust the temperature sensor offset on the thermostat, that's an option on the thermostat. I used a Sensirion smart gadget (temperature + RH sensor) and calibrated the thermostat with it, but I guess most any thermometer would to.
After doing that: it is simply excellent. I really like that it compensates the temperature based on the humidity and this maintains comfort while saving some money and not over-cooling.
The app is easy to use, and you can integrate this with Alexa (easily) and also Google Home and seems like it should work fine with Home Kit (but I have not tested this one).
All in all, I am glad we purchased this one. Hopefully ecobee won't follow Google's steps in selling your data (ecobee does not seem to sell your data at this point).
I also really like the multiple schedules you can set (a bit more complicated than home/away approach), you can have several different temperatures throughout the day or for different days of the week.
Last but not least, that remote temperature sensor: it is also a motion sensor, so it can sense when rooms are empty and if you have sufficient of those you can enable a sort of "follow me" function to ignore other sensors and adjust comfort where you are.
If you are on the fence: go for it! it is money well spent.

This has been a great product. It was very simple to setup and use. The app works great and offers all the same functions as being at the thermostat. It’s great to see humidity and air quality as well. The extra sensor has been helpful in the part of the house farthest from the Ecobee. It is a bit expensive but has been great so far. It was nice to monitor what was going on while we are away. Overall it’s a great product.

I was between this and the google nest, I made my research and looked also between other options in the market.
At the end i decided for ecobee due its design and options, I like how it looks and is very easy to use. The premium version really looks like the name, the finishing in the sides mades a great different vs the regular model, also the extra sensor is great and the speaker (even if it is not super loud) its pretty fair for the size, you can play music with good volume for a room or a hall and use Alexa with. Planning to get another one for other area.

Purchased the ecobee 4 last year and immediately noticed this one is better looking and feels like it was better built. Now Siri is integrated like Alexa was in the ecobee 4, I know have “hey Siri” on this thermostat and it acts as a doorbell chime for Siri doorbells. I also like the air quality indicator. User interface seems faster and is running smoother.

Its a clean looking and feels way better then the last gen unit, i also like the air quality indicator on this one. Still a easy set up as long as you have the proper wiring

Im really satisfied with purchasing this smart thermostat it does everything that it suppose to do. It's one of the best investments I could've purchased from Best Buy. Every household needs this. I'd recommend this to anyone.

It works OK. I'm not in love with this Ecobee, and the associated app, the way so many users seem to be. On the plus side it does offer good flexibility for scheduling and for comfort settings. Integration with homekit is pretty good, but not great. I like that it lets me lock out the heat strips according to the outside temp (I don't need the heat strips until about 10 degrees ambient).
However, there are quite a few downsides.
1. The unit itself heats up, a lot. It does seem to have built in adjustment for its own heat generation but, it's not perfect. I find I had to do a manual adjustment of the temp to get it to stop overestimating the temperature at the thermostat
2. Small, but annoying, you can't adjust the temperature reading of the standalone sensor.
3. If there is any way to see HVAC analytics in the app I can't find it. I had to literally get a third party app just to be able to see the daily usage on my phone.
4. Home & Away are kinda nonsense because they only factor in if you have passed by a sensor recently. I guess this may work if all your rooms have sensors. Mine don't and if I spend too long in the spare bedroom the ecobee will set away.
5. The humidity sensor needed a 4 percentage point adjustment to be accurate.
6. I started to use the ecobee website to get analytics on my HVAC but it very annoyingly logs me out every time I leave it alone for a while so I can't just hit refresh the way almost every other website in the world allows.

Very easy to install and setup. It automatically emailed TVA and enrolled me in a program that pays out rebates for folks who install smart thermostats like this one. I easily got it connected to my WIFI with their setup menu. Looking forward to being able to look at this thermostat remotely and to seeing what it does for me energy savings-wise.

I love my ecobee. The remote sensor so I can adjust temperature from any room is great. Air quality sensor so I know I’m not breathing anything I shouldn’t. And the reminders to change my filters is a must. And of course, it works with HomeKit and Siri And I got a $75 rebate from my utility company.

Works great so far. I was confused on why it was giving me two different temperatures in the due to the fact I forgot I had a sensor in a different room.

Installation was a bit daunting. Got the HVAC tech in to install. Easy to program. Once we fine tuned the schedule we are very comfortable and happy with the product

I purchase it because my old one is broken after 4 years. This is the updated one with better graphic. Easier to connect to the phone which is important to me!
