this has been a great printer so far. Only had it for about a month, but no issues yet and hasnt lost the WIFI connection like the HP 8710 constantly did that I had before. Prints are fast and print is sharp. Scan are easy to use and setup. Well worth the price

I have this printer for about a month now. It has been great. The scan function is great. You can do it from any of the computers linked via WiFi. The air printer works from all of our devices as well. The only down side is that the printer can not be in sleep mode for the air print to work, It has to be awake.

!* Avoid the firmware updates *!
They are mostly used to force you to buy Epson ink. After using all the ink that came with it, I put some compatible cartridges in. They worked fine until I made the mistake of agreeing to let it update the firmware. I then had to throw out the many cartridges that now will not work. Big waste. I hate that about this unit.
Also very much wish it had a straight through slot for single or (ideally) several sheets other than what's in the normal paper trays - for photo paper etc. so it doesn't have to make a tight curve as it feeds. Come to think of it, the fact that you need to buy some other tray in order to fit legal paper in a tray is a bad design - for the customer. Again, the rear feed slot would have solved this design flaw.
On the plus side, it does a good job of printing and scanning. I like that it does double sided work for both input and output - so far very well and without failure.
So, if you want a truly versatile printer, this is not for you. If you want a printer with low operating cost, this is not for you. But, if you have very simple, Letter/A4 or smaller, printing to do fairly quickly and reliably, this may be a good choice.

Good features: It is very fast and reliable, has the best features and software of any manufacturer. less prone to jamming and misfeeds if trays set up right than others. Will do legal prints and scans from expandable upper tray.
Not so good: Cartridges are expensive and sometimes hard to get
(use the 802XL ones. they are good for about 1500 pages).
Requires a maintenance box change out about every 10K pages (20.00 from Epson). Print quality is not up to par with HP.

It had been a long time since I had an Epson printer, preferring HP for many years, but the features and price made it easy for me to try this EPSON. Very surprised at ease of setup and operations tethered and wireless. No problems at all. The prints are clear and crisp using both EPSON and HP paper and the ink is not disappearing as fast as my last HP--which is why I donated that HP to Goodwil. This printer looks like a keeper and I would recommend it to a friend.

This printer is quick and makes quality prints, but it uses so much ink expensive ink that I fully expect to pay more for ink in the initial three months of use than I paid for the printer. It is an ink hog!

Went in to replace my older HP that no longer talks to our network. Went to Epson because the HP replacements have gotten cheaper they seem to fall apart in your hands just loading paper. The Epson seem to be built like a tank it communicates with the network, Windows 10, Apple everything and Android. So far so good. You can also print from anywhere along the internet.

I’ve had a few different multi-function printers and the Epson WF 4740 is my favorite. My only complaint is that it’s hard to get the black/white copy and print features to function when one or more of your color ink cartridges is going low, if at all when one goes out. If there’s black ink you should always have the black/white print and copy functions available. Otherwise I have no complaints. Please keep in mind that I have never used a fax function.

Bought it for home use. Prints great -double sided, wireless - can print from my phone or tablet. Does everything it’s supposed to can’t complain. The only thing I haven’t used is the fax function - so no input on that.

Very Fast Printer

The printer is very fast and has many features. I appreciate all-in-one printers like this one and this one has been significantly faster than my previous HP printer.
The only thing is I'm currently having trouble with the black ink not printing properly. It'll leave open space between letters and a straight white line between sentences. None of the maintenance features on the printer have self-repaired this issue and I'm afraid it may require actual repairing.

I bought this after an extensive search on the internet for the right product. Ended up going with PCMag.com Editor's Choice, thinking I couldn't go wrong. I had an issue with the initial setup which required a few unexpected steps (like hooking a USB printer cable directly to my PC). Now it sits there on my wireless network and works 75% of the time from my PCs and 50% of the time from my MacBook Pro. Printing from iPhones (important for the kids) works only if you restart the printer. Very disappointing in this respect b/c I often get a call from my wife/kids while at work asking me for help. Printing quality is acceptable. Ditto with scanning. Printing photos on Epson premium photo paper is acceptable as well. Disappointed with the fact that I already need to replace ink cartridges. I will upgrade to the XL vs the regulars that came with it. Hopefully those will last longer. I hate having to spend 25% of the cost of the printer simply to replenish ink. But I guess that's how they get you.
