It does the job but I had to struggle to install this Friday lock, information on their website is fusy and shalow when it comes to technicalities and compatibility. After many days lost trying, I had to return it once because simply was not connecting to my iPhone. The replacement did connect in a snap. Make sure to get long and very flat head screws. In my case I had to practically make them.

Friday is Junk!

I wanted to love this smart lock! It looks great, and in theory, the lock has great features and could have made life just a little bit easier. Alas, the reality is that Friday is anything but and is JUNK!
Where to start?
First – Installation Guide. There was no installation guide included in the box (though the description says there is). This could have made installation slightly easier, especially seeing the different lock company patterns. Instead, I found it to be a very frustrating process of trial and error. Also, for a guy with big hands, inserting the lock catch proved difficult. A pair of needle-nose pliers helped with this part. Though the cute videos make the installation look like a breeze, it was not.
Second – Setup. Already frustrated, setting up the app was not as easy as described in the video. In the Apple Store, you have to search for Friday Smart Lock. Anything else and you have many options of apps with Friday in the title. Once you download the app and open it, installation happens (with HomeKit integration), and you have no idea what's happening. Other companies, like Wink, include a step-by-step installation. Not so much with this app. After HomeKit is set up, you have to switch back to the Friday app for additional setup. Here, the installation comes to a screeching halt while the program updates. After that, there is a simple calibration section. This is the only part of the process that was easy (calibration). However, manual use of the lock negates calibration setup and causes the lock to no longer engage.
Third – App. Hoping Friday works. I hoped and hoped and hoped, but to no avail. I placed the shell back on as instructed. In doing so, the lock seems to stick. Without the shell, the lock seems to work ok. Here's the frustrating part. The lock would not work from the app but semi-worked from HomeKit. I tested it a few times, thinking I was on the road to success, but then it stops working. Pressing the button more than once seemed to confuse the device. A quick look at the app showed the lock was no longer connected. This process went on for another hour before contacting tech support.
Fourth – Tech Support. Tech support is a joke. On the contact page of the Friday website, there is a chat bubble. I opened it and explained to Felipe the issues I was having. He asked me to troubleshoot. Though I had already done this, I agreed to do it again, reluctantly. Super frustrated at this point; I learned that every time I left the chat, in this case, to go to the Friday App or HomeKit, I was disconnected from the chat. On and on this went for another 45 minutes before being told he would escalate the issue and someone would get back to me via email. EMAIL! I couldn't help but think that was the wrong thing to say to someone so frustrated and three hours into the process.
Today, I received a generic email asking me to troubleshoot by repeating the same steps I had already taken with Felipe. Surely this couldn't be the escalation team, and surely they weren't going to do this over email. I was wrong. It was, and they were. At this point, I informed them I would return the product.
At the end of the day, I do not have faith that this product would function if I got locked out of my house or if my life depended on it. Being locked out makes you feel vulnerable. Being locked out with a smart lock that doesn't make sense. It is for this reason, and everything else above that I do not recommend Friday and believe it is junk.

I absolutely love my new Friday lock! The satin nickel lock looks amazing. The design is modern, gorgeous, and compliments our new home perfectly. When I received it I couldn't wait to get it installed. Once I had read the directions I had it installed on our current Schlag lock within minutes. It worked on the first try. I have both the Friday app and have been using it with my HomeKit. Love that I have been able to set it up to automatically lock when I leave my home as my kids tend to forget to lock the front door and I am bad about checking before we leave the house. I also have it set up to automatically lock at a set time each evening just in case my husband and I have fallen asleep on the couch :o)
It has been a lifesaver more than once as I have needed to let a neighbor into our house to grab something for my daughter while I was at work. It was simple to unlock the door and lock the door again once he had been in the house.
I can't wait to get a second one for our door that leads to the garage.

The Friday lock is very nice to look at, installs fairly easily and quickly, but that's where the good ends.
It took multiple attempts to get the app to see the lock for installation. After a few days the connection would drop and I had to remove the battery and reset the lock. This happened more as the days went on.
Some days the app would say the door is locked or unlocked but it wasn't, and sliding the "control" in the app would create an error and then there was no control. I couldn't trust the lock to autolock.
Mechanically everything started out fine but what made me finally return the lock is the gears stopped engaging.

For a first generation lock this thing is great. I’m enjoying the idea of not having to use keys…makes it easy and convenient. This thing is way better looking than the other smart locks…my wife even approves of it! A couple of things to keep in mind when reading my review:
• I’m using an iPhone and have the lock connected via HomeKit.
• My door locked and unlocked perfectly fine with my traditional thumb turn manual deadbolt – no sticking locks or anything – I say this because some people complain that smart locks won’t work in sticky locks…mine is aligned and works
• I use the Apple Home app to lock and unlock – faster than the Friday app and also gives me access to Siri and other smart accessories in my house.
• I have a Schlage deadbolt
The install was rather simple. I charged the battery for a few hours before attempting the install. Then proceeded to follow the instructions which were easy to understand. I used the base plate extension on my door as the bar that turns my lock was too long and I didn’t want to cut it (the install manual showed how to modify the bar, but I chose the extension plate instead). The extension piece looks good, so I think I’ll keep it like this. I used the same screws that were in my Schlage deadbolt and things worked smoothly.
I downloaded the app and begin to set it up. I have HomeKit accessories in my home so I decided to install it through the Apple Home app. Worked great. Just needed to open the Friday app to calibrate the app and set up an account.
I have it set up in Home in my “Leave Home” and “Arrive Home” scenes. Works well – a few times it has taken longer than expected to connect…but I’m not sure that is Friday or Home as I find that is the case with other accessories in my HomeKit family too.

The lock has a great design. But it doesn't have wifi enable on it so you can't access it remotely. Friday assist is slow to detect that you are near the door and should unlock it. The door does lock right away once you've closed it so that's a good feature. Overall I wouldn't purchase until they've gotten more bugs out of it

I found this easy to install, but have encountered some small problems related to Apple HomeKit. This unit is smaller than others because it relies on HomeKit for notifications and remote access. It only has Bluetooth, no wifi, so it relies on your Apple TV or iPad as a hub. I have had some challenges because of this, but I still like it.

I was quite excited to see that the Friday Lock was being offered by Best Buy and purchased one once it was available. Installation was quite straightforward and I had no issues. The lock works seamlessly with Apple HomeKit once configured in the Friday Lock app. I have found, however, that calibration of the lock is critical to correct operation of the lock as well as status and notifications via HomeKit. I contacted Friday Lock support (which was quite responsive) and they provided a link to a YouTube video which describes how to calibrate. You will note in the video during calibration that the lock is turned manually closed and then rotated back a few degrees before accepting the lock position in the app. Same with the locked position. In my experience this is the best way to calibrate. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aqQndfE4K4&feature=youtu.be

I set up the Friday smart lock and I'm thrilled! It looks really nice since it's not big and bulky like the other smart locks. I've tried them all. Install was a breeze and I have it connected with Apple HomeKit for remote access.

Despite repeated printed claims in their literature about how easy the lock is to install it took me 4 times longer than any other smart (or regular) lock I've ever had, and I've had many. After finally getting it in the door, it took over a day to get it to connect, and then I could never count on it responding properly to commands. (I often worried about being locked out of my apartment.) In short, although I love working with gadgets I got more pleasure removing this thing than I did putting it in.
It looked cool, though.

Garbage Product - Avoid

This is a decent looking piece of garbage tech. Installation guide is through the app or website only and is at best vague. Once you've installed the lock, probably through trial and error, and put the battery in, after charging it for a long while, you best plug in your phone when trying to connect the lock through the app. In total it took about 6 hours for an initial connection to occur for me and that only lasted for about 4 days. When it was connected the auto lock/unlock feature either didn't work at all or would finally trigger between 5 and 30 minutes after it should have. After trying to reconnect for another 2 hours I uninstalled this junk. I'd add something about Friday's "support" but that's such a complete and utter joke that I'm not sure it should actually be considered as existing.

Conceptually a nice product but it has a long way to go to be a stable and reliable replacement to your keys.
App was difficult to setup and it took many many tried to find and connect to the Lock. Had to delete and reinstall the app many times just to get it to work the first time. Customer service wasn’t the best and wasn’t able to help me.
The Lock is significantly louder than its competitors. The noise became so much of an issue that I returned the lock for that reason.
I hope these bugs and issues can get worked out and produce a revised version of this Lock. It’s got a great physical design and feel to it, it’s just lacking the backend infrastructure and programming to be reliable.

I scoured the reviews looking for a Bluetooth enabled smart lock. There's a few options out there (Looked at Kevo, August and a couple others). All seemed to have some pretty big handicaps. In reading up on this one, seemed to have most of what I was looking for, and not requiring a whole separate component to buy and manage, but understood that it was still new and still had some work to do. I like the look, the integration into your existing hardware and that it supports Bluetooth and wifi. Still there's some work around on the latching (not always consistent), things like scheduling and support of Alexa would be great to integrate in (understand from the company that they are working on things such as these).

Really like the idea of this deadbolt lock. I have had difficulty installing it as the tailpiece of my lock is too short for the mechanism. The instructions tell of how to trim a tailpiece that is too long but have no accommodations for too short. They will send a free tailpiece but it costs $10.00 to ship and then I have to install it in my mechanism. I would have like to have seen the adapter mechanism be longer instead of having to disassemble my deadbolt to replace a piece or install an entire new deadbolt to replace what is there (which is a mainstream lock-Baldwin-that they note in the instruction manual). Also the installation is not as intuitive as I would have liked to see. Unfortunately I have not been able to install the lock yet to assess the functionality. If I am able to I will post that assessment.
Despite this I do recommend trying this as it is a great concept.

In the five days I've owned this lock, it has frequently failed to properly lock or unlock the door on a fully charged battery. The Android app takes a lengthy amount of time to connect to the lock and when it does, cannot figure out the state of the lock if it was previously locked/unlocked manually, such as when exiting. The last straw was this morning when the phone app crashed while trying to connect to the lock and took my whole phone down with it. We've removed the lock and plan to return it to the store.
Other shortcomings for this lock, known prior to purchasing, are that it cannot be controlled remotely, as with other true smart locks. Leaving out Z-wave or Zigbee support in a new device such as this doomed it to failure.
