Water resistance is better than most activity bands. Great to be able to see phone, texts, but TENNIS IS NOT LISTED as an activity...no real food links like UP Band, I would recommend to some friends but not to my tennis friends!

I'm more low-tech and use this mostly for tracking number of steps each day and mileage. Don't like wearing it to bed, so I place it on the nightstand after setting it to "sleep" so the "quality" of sleep recorded is not really true. It really only tracks how long I've been "sleeping" in terms of when I put it in sleep mode and when I "woke up". Have gotten it wet but not worried about it -- that's very convenient for me too. As a low-tech user I had it originally set to let me know when e-mail arrived (via the Bluetooth option) -- but the vibration got annoying. I only turn on the Bluetooth option on my phone when I need to sync the band to my phone -- good overall tracker. Would prefer the display to change 90 degrees so it's easier to read like a watch, but I'm getting used to it. I am impressed with how little I've had to recharge it -- that was a big concern of mine. I easily get more than a week with each charge, but again, I don't have it constantly "bluetoothing" to other stuff. Based on my use, is this really an expensive pedometer? Yeah, sort of. But it helped that I used Best Buy gift cards ... I like it.

The band is very comfortable, it is discrete as well.
The steps are very accurate. The heart rate monitor is very accurate as well although not as comfortable as the wrist band.
The elastic band in the heart rate monitor should be a bit more wide to be more comfortable.
The wrist band is very easy to use and is water resistant.
I am very happy with the purchase. The only complaint i have the the garmin connect app. It is horrible. It is very basic and it lacks pertinent information. Interesting enough, if you go to the website you can access all the info missing on the app.

I originally bought a Jawbone up about a year ago, took it back after battery stopped charging. Decided to pick up another activity tracker up since I got about $50 off for black friday. I do like this one because it has a decent looking display. It's not all flashy with colors and what not but it has a nice glow to it. Nice to have notifications on your Garmin such as phone call and text messages. Probably used the function to find my phone about 5 times. It is awesome to see your steps and to try to achieve more every day. Definitely cool to see your progress and helps to motivate you. Just downloaded myfitnesspal app to see about my calorie intake and to help me lose more weight. I don't know how accurate the sleep data is but is interesting to look at. I mistakenly purchased the heart rate monitor combo, but decided to keep it because of the discount. Heart rate monitor is okay to look at, nice to know how much your body is working, but is a little uncomfortable, guess that is what wearing a bra is like. Had this for about 5 weeks and have scuffed the display part a couple times playing racquetball. It is still readable, but wish it was a little more durable. It is a hard plastic but then again it is kind of hard not to ding it if you are actively playing sports and/or working out. Decent option for those who don't want to spend $300 on a smart watch or equivalent.

I have had a great experience with the Vivosmart. I set the brightness on minimum, and don't check it all that much, and get 7-8 days per charge. It's light, and low profile.
The water resistance has been great. What other reviews say about the Garmin software is true, and it simply tells you how restless or calm you were when you enter sleep mode.
I like having the chest strap heart monitor, as it is accurate.
I think it is a solid product, and have been happy with my purchase.

I have found the Garmin Vivosmart to be very help in managing my incoming texts and schedule requests while helping me to monitor my activity and give me encouragement to move more often. The heart rate monitor though spate form the bad helps me to hit target heart rates in my exercise. Low profile and professional looking

Purchased this for my husband who works outside and gets really dirty. He didn't want anything with a large display and had to be waterproof. It lasted about a year before the screen cracked. Luckily we had the Best Buy protection plan. In any other situation this is a good product and worked great for monitoring incoming calls and texts without looking at the phone. Battery lasted a week (unlike my Apple Watch). Even recommended for anyone who works outside. They won't have to mess with their phone as much. Just get the protection plan.

Originally I had purchased the Fitbit charge HR, after only a couple days I returned it and got this. This is so much more comfortable and durable. The chest strap heart monitor is very comfortable and you forget you are wearing it. It is also more accurate.

I did a fair amount of research when I purchased the VivoSmart (Dec14-Jan15) and it seemed to be the BEST one out at the time.
Originally I was leaning towards a Samsung model (because I'm an android user - S5), but I found out that the heart rate monitors that read from the wrist are not accurate or reliable. Additionally, the Samsung was fairly large, while the Garmin VivoSmart is sleek and the touch screen appears as if it isn't there. I haven't followed up on the new fitbit that recently came out, but I'd imagine similar heart rate issues given the human body and current technology.
So back to the Garmin VivoSmart... The battery lasts about 5 days before the light indicator comes on. I believe I went for another day with this light on until it died. It charges relatively fast (maybe 1-2 hours, but I haven't timed it). I never really take the watch off and I use the heart rate monitor about 3 times a week for an hour each time.
I like the Garmin "Connect" app, which shows nice graphs for the heart rate monitor activity. I orginally purchased the Polar FT7 but returned it because the data that it gave you was worthless. The main reason I bought this was for the heart rate monitor, so all the extras are just nice to have.
I really like the bluetooth connectivity to the phone so that I can quickly see what message I just got or be alerted if my phone is ringing. It has pretty good range for this. I don't feel like it drains my phone really, but phone batteries aren't that great to begin with.
I'm not sure that the step counter is very accurate, but I'm also not so sure that any other brand/model is any better. As long as you are comparing to the same numbers, it shouldn't really matter. Same for the heart rate monitor, but I think the heart rate monitor actually is pretty accurate. I usually reach my max heart rate during workouts, and it certainly feels like I am... 188bpm... phew.
Overall, I highly recommend the Garmin VivoSmart.

After looking at all the options out there, I settled on the Garmin Vivosmart with Heart Rate Monitor. Very light weight. I barely notice it on my arm. The display is easy to read and operate. Accurate recording of steps, etc.
The heart rate monitor works extremely well and keeps solid stats. The iPhone interface does a really nice job of logging my stats including sleep patterns, which I find pretty neat.
Overall, a really sweet tool to assist with my healthy goals!

Great and Versatile Activity Tracker

I shopped up and down for a versatile activity tracker suitable for my lifestyle. I finally decided on the Vivosmart because of its functionality, performance, and ease of use. Beside a pedometer, the Vivosmart is also a sleep and motion tracker. It is also water-proof (even for swimming). The smaller form factor makes a somewhat fashionable wristband when the OLED display is off. Yet, the device can display date, time, and important notifications when sync to a smart phone. It can also sync with a separate heart rate monitor for additional monitoring. Other convenient and very useful features include the ability to remote control an audio or video player app on the mobile phone, as well as a phone locator.
After using the Vivosmart for more than a month, I thoroughly enjoy the device and the accompanying apps and fitness/wellness programs. And yes, it is working well for me, helping me towards my fitness goals! :)

I bought the Garmin Vivosmart to replace the Polar Loop I had previously; I liked the fact that the Vivosmart was not only a fitness tracker but it also had smart notifications. I'm now wishing I had stayed with the Polar brand, I am SO disappointed with this Vivosmart! First off, I've only had this band for less than 3 months, already there are issues with the screen; there are places that are black where they should obviously be back lit. I can't read some of the smart notifications anyway because parts of my screen don't work! The band usually pairs and works well with the chest strap but often will not stayed connected to my phone. There are times where the Vivosmart will drop the bluetooth connection to my phone randomly, even though it's been paired with the phone for a while and I haven't moved.... It's infuriating. Needless to say I wouldn't buy another, nor would I recommend this product to a friend.

Cons: * Not sure how accurate Garmin's estimation of calories burnt is. I found it to be off by an order of magnitude.
* For this price point, I expected the device to be capable of recording stairs climbed. Bit disappointing but not a deal breaker.
* I don't understand why this device doesn't support workouts. The lack of this feature alone almost makes getting the heart rate strap unnecessary.
* On a number of occasions there have been issues with the Garmin website which has affected sync'ing the device with my phone. Why does this product need to access the Garmin website just to upload my stats to my phone? Garmin should fix this!!
* I manually set my own step goals. I was able to do this twice. Auto -> 10,000 and 10,000 -> 15,000. Sadly I can't seem to update this goal. As it stands my phone says my daily goal is 18,000 and the device still thinks my daily goal is 15,000. Not a deal breaker but needs an update.
Pros: * Well designed product that is packed with great features and works reasonably well.
* Notifications work great and the display is incredible.
* Feels very comfortable and being waterproof means I wear it 24/7 except to recharge once a week.

I love it and it tracks everything. It gives me a goal to shoot at everyday and my workouts are more focused because I can track my heart rate to maintain a certain level or push harder to get the type workout I'm looking for.
The only con is getting Myfitness Pal and Garmin connect to sync with each other flawlessly. If that gets fixed this will be a 6 star device which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars

I bought this because I preferred the aesthetics than the ones by Fitbit, and other similar products. This is my first wearable tech, and the Vivosmart is easy to use. The interface is really convenient and the touch gestures are smooth with little lag. It is waterproof to a certain depth, however the touch feature of the vivosmart isn't water friendly because it gets activated even by water droplets.
I also bought the one with the heart monitor, but I have never been able to use it. For some reason I find it difficult to wear. I recommend trying it out first if you are able to. However, the vivosmart alone would have earned me 5 stars.

The band works great keeps charge about a week, Bluetooth connectivity is strong works from my first floor to 2nd also sometimes from basement to 2nd floor.... I recommend if you're far from phone turn off blutooth on the bracelet for battery consumption. I use this with and android if you hit play it will open your google play music, heart rate monitor works really good and automatically connects. I got this one because I liked the connect software and also you can read emails as well at texts off of it. so this would be the least expensive smart watch you can buy. also it is very this and you can wear it all day and not even notice it.

I bought the garmin after I had gone through 3 Fitbit HRs ( after 1-2 months they would quit working, or connecting period ) . I have not had any issues with it after a few months. I love the text message alerts , and the skip a song feature . It does not record your heart rate without wearing that bulky chest strap but overall , I am very pleased. I charge it once a week and it holds its charge for 6-7 days.

This fitness band is extremely useful for my fitness goals! I now know how little walking does for caloric burn, and I now know I walk over 5 miles per day at work (hospital). I purchased the heart rate monitor and was amazed by how comfortable and easy it is to use! I now know my power yoga classes burn upward of 700 calories! The system is easy to use and is great that they pair so easily with each other and my Garmin VIRB Elite to add depth to my action videos. I have also paired my Garmin Vivosmart with MyFitnessPal and now realize how may empty calories I really was intaking before. I always hated the prospect of calorie counting, but with the easy to use (non-Garmin) program that works with the Vivosmart ALONG WITH the pedometer, heart rate monitor, text messaging and incoming call alerts, and controls to my mobile device's media player, the Vivosmart has been my favorite tech purchase in many many years!
