    The prior unit of same model lasted 8 years which was disappointing, but we used it a lot. When we turned the light in to see the stove top we noticed the microwave metal got very hot. They changed from the simple plug in appliance bulb to a halogen bulb that is very hot. Why not LED???? We complained to GE, but as with a GE refrigerator that dies in 8 years, they don’t respond indicating they don’t care. GE (and Maytag) used to be the best, they are garbage now.

    The very best part of this microwave is the MUTE button. Not having to listen to that constant beeping is fantastic. They should all have it now. Cooks / reheats great. Has the preset buttons that are helpful. The only negative I have found is the light runs a little hot causes the turntable to be hot. Just put it on when cooking.

    We've only had it for 16 days but so far it works great with no problems. It's user friendly and very pretty in Slate with plenty of power. It fit perfectly into the opening above our range where we had a much older model that was not powerful enough. We love the surface lights and multi-speed fan that is relatively quiet.
