    Worked literally less than 1 summer. Same as last year. This is the 3rd GE that just dies randomly at 1-3 months regular use.

We are seeing that this air conditioner is a "Return to Vendor" model as parts for it are extremely limited. In this case, we recommend you reach out to your local Best Buy to evaluate what your options for repair or replacement are.     Not that great at cooling. My room is 10 x 13 and this air conditioner struggles to bring it a comfortable temperature. I would recommend looking at another unit.

    Definitely does not cool as well as advertised. Also the air filter is in a really bad spot if the window is recessed at all. Can’t get it out. I should have returned the ac unit.

    This is the worst AC unit I’ve owned. It’s not that cold, and you can only put it as low as 64 degrees. It was too expensive as well. Not impressed.

    Excellent Air conditioner with Digital Thermostat

    REVIEW This air conditioner is replacing my 8000BTU Portable air conditioner which I absolutely hated. The hose always used to slip off the window and used to blow hot air inside. And on top of that, it was not cooling the room when the temperature rises to 90F. Now, with this window AC sitting on the window and in a 12x20 room , it does an outstanding job of cooling the same room. I am surprised that a 6000BTU AC works better then the 8000BTU portable air conditioner. I also liked the fact that the display is digital and I can adjust it to the required temperature since the thermostat is digital (By default it shows the current temp). It is compact and fits a standard hung window. The cooling has 3 separate modes - Low, Medium and high for speed of cooling and the fan also has High, Low and Medium. There is an auto mode which can be set while cooling. You can use the air conditioner as a fan without the compressor being on which is good when the outside temperature is not that that hot. The sound on the air conditioner is same as my 5000BTU Frigidaire which I should say is silent. There is also a eco mode which turns off the fan when the compressor is turned off to save energy. Now, one good thing is that when you turn on the power, it shows the current room temperature which is the starting point to adjust it down… I mostly use the delayed OFF mode so that the air-conditioner turns off automatically after 8 hours.. SETUP Setup on the air conditioner is pretty straightforward and I am sure everyone must have installed a window air-conditioner at least once in their life… There is one self adhesive gasket is included for taping it to the window to avoid any air gaps. There is also a filter indicator which indicates when the filter needs cleaning. I have not tried to remove it yet… PROS —— 1. Digital thermostat 2. Delayed ON/OFF 3. Eco mode which turns off the fan when the compressor turns off, saves energy 4. Can easily cool a 250 sqft room which is a typical bedroom. CONS ——- 1. None so far…

    Bad Unit Would not buy.

    Installed this unit and turned it on. It cooled the room then kicked off and the compressor would not kick back on even though the temprature was almost 76 degrees in the room. Then I turned it off and waited about an hour and turned it on and set it to 70 degrees. The compressor kicked on and it ran and cooled the but the compressor and unit kept running even though the thermostat was set at 70 and the room temprature was down to 61 degrees. Returned it back to Best Buy.

    Noisiest AC I have ever experienced. Yes, it cools the room (eventually), but at the expense of your eardrums & peace of mind.

    Waste of money—1 season then trash

    Don’t buy unless you inly want to use for 1 season. Bought 5/31/20 and used only 3 months (last summer) and now it stopped working this season. Won’t turn on and GE only offers 1 year manufacture warranty (slightly over). As I’m troubleshooting I’m now noticing others with same issues. Defective units!!! Thought I would pass along.

      We're so sorry to hear that your air conditioner has stopped working so soon! We certainly understand your frustration and would like to provide a few tips. If the air conditioner has stopped working or will not come on:


      Verify the outlet you have the air conditioner plugged into is working properly. Also, If the plug is not tight in the outlet, it may not make a good connection. If the outlet is not working or the plug is loose in the outlet, we recommend having an electrician check the outlet.
      Make sure the breaker in the circuit breaker box has not tripped.

      On occasion a power surge can cause the circuit breaker to open and prevent the unit from operating.
      The air conditioner should be on a dedicated circuit. If there are other products on the same circuit, they could cause the breaker to trip.
      The plug has a GFI (GFCI) with a Reset button. Unplug the unit from the wall, press the Reset button on the power plug, and plug back in. If these tips do not help, then we recommend taking advantage of your warranty to schedule a service appointment. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737. Have a great day!     Dissappointing to say the least. I have a small bedroom in an apartment and this thing STRUGGLES to get it cool. It's constantly running (loudly!) to try and reach the temperature (it never does.. cant ever bring the temperature below 75F). Only positives I have to offer is that it's a nicer looking a/c unit, having a remote is handy, and installation was simple.

    It went out after the 14day return, never had this problem with GE window ac before.....

If the unit will not start, you may want to check the house fuse/circuit breaker box to ensure power is reaching the air conditioner. You can try disconnecting the unit from power, waiting a minute or two and connecting it again – this resets the electrical components and can often help resolve an issue. There is also a Reset button on the power cord plug – if the current interrupter device is tripped, that Reset option may help resolve. If you are not able to return the unit to its normal operation using those steps, there is information on page 17 regarding the limited warranty that covers the air conditioner for the first year.     Thank goodness the room is small because it doesn't do a good job of cooling. With the door shut and black out curtains, the unit cools sufficiently.

    Do NOT waste money. Very disappointing for GE appliance. Doesn’t cool room at all. Have to be practically on top of unit and directly in front of air flow to feel anything, so have to run all the time and can be half cool and half hot if only half body is in front of direct air flow. Only had less than month and now performing worse and no blast when put hands up to. Temp has always done it’s own thing and doesn’t go too low and forget it on a hot day.

    Bought this to cool our 10 x 12 bedroom. Have to keep it running 24/7 on the highest setting lowest temperature and it still can't do the job.

    It’s terrible. I bought a 150 square foot Air conditioner Frigidaire that’s actually cools more than this unit. This unit doesn’t get lower than 72 degrees. It’s terrible and a waste of energy on your light bill. I wanted to return it thinking there is a month window for returns but they only give you two weeks. Now I know why they only give you a short amount of time to return it. Lost my money to this garbage. Thank you Best Buy.

Should it not cool properly, make sure the filter is cleaned, the vents are not blocked by curtains or large furniture, and it set to cool mode.
