I used putty and/or extra installation to fill in any gaps to outside so bugs don't get in. Other window AC units I have had also had some gaps as well so not unique to the GE AC window unit.

The AC is able to cool the bedroom and I am able to keep it running for a long time without problems. The only problem I had was that the cage had a piece broken but It did not bother me enough to return.

It was opened on the bottom and missing the top bar that holds it into the window.. so had to get that replaced but bestbuy took care of me and i had a free replacement part sent out within the week. Its been working pretty good without issues. Make sure you pull the black rubber drain plug out from the bottom tho prior to installing! Lol Also i recommend checking your box before leaving bestbuy to ensure nothing is missing.
