I used this AC unit to cool my bedroom which is about 12 x 12. It definitely did the job. However, nothing really made it stand out from other window units that I've used. The pros: - easy to install. Just screw in the mounting rail, attach the curtain frame, put it in the window, and secure the brackets. - Easy to use buttons and remote - the side curtains and foam gasket seem to provide decent insulation - quickly cooled my 12 x 12 bedroom - relatively slim profile so the unit doesn't protrude from the window as much as older units I've used -compact and lighter than other units I've used -cheaper than most other units of this size -simple, clean design that's not too much of an eyesore (it's a window unit, it doesn't look good) The cons: - Noisy. I know AC units are going to make noise, but this unit is no more quite than the unit I bought 10 years ago. You'd think they would make some advancement in technology in that time. - The air vents only adjust air flow in a side to side direction and not up and down - Concerns about quality. It's been a while since I've had a GE product, but the brand name has definitely lost its luster. But right out of the box, the sticker for the buttons on the unit was peeling off already. Hopefully, that doesn't foreshadow the quality of the more important parts of the unit (you know, the ones that actually cool the air). But it's not good to have a defect like that right out of the box.

Got this at a good price and keeps my room cool. I only need to run it for a little bit.

Good product for small room. Installation can take extra engineering, in older house with new windows, to safely and tightly install depending on window style that instructions give only two examples of. If you aren’t mechanically adept have the unit installed.

Okay, this thing cools my bedroom, but I've owned better window A/C units. My house has central A/C, but I like to keep my bedroom extra chilly, so I use a window unit. To get my room down to around 67°F, I have to set this to it's lowest setpoint, which is 64°F. So the thermocouple in this thing is off for starters. Another nit-pick is that every time you turn it on, it defaults to the "Eco" setting, instead of defaulting to the last used mode. So every time I turn it on, I have to cycle through the modes until I get to "cool." Not a deal breaker, but just overall annoying.
