Geek Squad insurance for The nest Thermostat. Bought 2 one will not connect to the internet I am a year outside of the manufacturer warranty. Called Geek Squad 4 year warranty and was told to just take it off the wall and bring it in. Be advised that I paid someone to install this nest thermostat but I’m just supposed to take it off the wall and it is 100 degrees today. They offed to send some one out to take it off the wall and I would then have to bring it in myself. Surely if you have the means to send someone out to take it off the wall one might think that they could send someone out to see why one connects and the other don’t

Great thermostat but the only problem is it won't connect to Google home and that's why I really wanted it. Google knows its a problem and hasn't fixed it.

It was very easy to install and the interface is very user friendly. I gave it 3 stars because in less than three months the wifi function on the thermostat stopped working and I had to contact Google support at (855) 469-6378. My service rep was friendly and professional. Now let's see how kong it takes for the replacement unit to arrive.

It worked great for a few months then the battery stopped charging, tried using the usb to charge it but it can’t hold a charge, so now we can’t even use it and I saw all the comments online saying they can’t get nest to get it fixed so I’m going to have to get another thermostat. Definitely won’t be getting nest again.

Hello RyanS, thanks for posting your review. We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing some difficulties with the batteries holding a charge. Please be advised that your Nest Learning Thermostat uses power sharing(North America only) to stay powered on. Most systems are able to power share without a problem, but some heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems may react differently to power sharing. Power sharing issues are resolved with the installation of a common ground (C) wire or the Nest Power Connector. If you've tried these options before and the issue still persists, then we recommend that you reach out to our support specialists so we can help you with finding a better resolution and improve your experience. I recently upgraded my home with the Google Nest Thermostat, and it’s been a game-changer for both comfort and energy savings. The installation process was straightforward with clear, user-friendly instructions that made it easy even for someone like me who isn’t tech-savvy. Once set up, the thermostat quickly learned my daily routines and adjusted the temperature automatically, ensuring a cozy home environment while also reducing energy waste. The design is modern and sleek, fitting seamlessly into my home’s decor, and the intuitive interface makes adjustments a breeze. I especially appreciate the remote control feature via the smartphone app, which allows me to monitor and change settings even when I’m away from home. The detailed energy reports have been incredibly helpful in tracking my savings and understanding my energy usage patterns. While it does require a stable Wi-Fi connection and occasionally demands minor tweaks to optimize performance, these small adjustments are far outweighed by its overall benefits. The Google Nest Thermostat has not only enhanced my home's comfort but has also helped me lower my energy bills—making it a smart investment for any modern household. I highly recommend this thermostat to anyone looking to upgrade their home automation system. It’s a brilliant blend of efficiency, innovation, and style that truly stands out in the smart home market.

Hi LoveTheseSpeakers, thanks for sharing a review about the Nest Learning Thermostat, and we’re sorry to hear it’s an inconvenience for you. Nest thermostats connectivity issues could be related to power issues, which may occur when your system wires can't deliver enough power to keep the thermostats charged up. The thermostat uses the voltage from your system’s wires to keep its internal battery charged, so if the power from your system is insufficient, the thermostat will run on battery for a while but will turn off features like Wi-Fi to preserve battery life before it must turn off completely.

Here’s are some troubleshooting steps that might help in the event that your thermostat has connectivity issues:
      - Restarting your thermostat will refresh your connection. You can restart it by going to Settings > Reset > Restart.
      - Unplug your Modem/Router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
      - Check for sources of Wi-Fi interference (cordless phones, baby monitors, microwaves, bluetooth devices, wireless video equipment)
      - Check your battery level, press the thermostat ring to bring up the Quick View menu Settings > Technical Info > Power. Look for the number labeled Battery. If the battery charge is below 3.6V, there might be a power issue.
      - If this is related to a power issue, disconnect the thermostat from your Wi-Fi. Check if the thermostat maintains a charge after.

If additional help is needed, we’d be happy to provide you with real time service and assistance if you can visit us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

    Great Product

First off, the style beats the old round thermostats and the more recent square bricks mounted to the wall. Form and function are incorporated beautifully. Installation on my system was straightforward and simple. The only issue was the size of the wire labels. I had a hard time applying them snd getting them to stick. Photographing the wires with tags was a great help. Once the base was attached to the wall, the first step, and the wires were attached to the screw-free clips on the base, the main “dial” of the thermostat just snaps onto the base. Throwing the breaker back to the on position for the furnace powers up the unit on most systems. Then the setup program begins. Simple, straightforward and done in about 3 minutes. Connecting to the home network gives nearly immediate access to the wireless functions with Google Hone products and Alexa. You can speak to these products or use the apps. Easy as pie.

I had a Honeywell connected thermostat that just kept losing wireless connection and after a year it decided it did not want to cool my system anymore, so i decided i wanted to upgrade to the nest. On opening the box just the way it was packed you know you have a quality item and has nice weight to the device also The instruction on how to install was quite good and easy to follow, the only issue was the sticky labels were not tooo good and kept slipping of so be careful, i took a picture after i labeled just in case. the nest has a plastic surface that is 3/4 covering the glass that you might think needs to be peeled off but is actually part of the device surface , i checked online and is teh only way i found out not to touch it. once installed going through the menu, off course you need wireless connection and to download the app, but you can do this without as i connected after the unit was setup and installed. after connection and running it was easy to use from the app, don't forget this is a learning device. there was some lag time between switching the cooling system on and off but after a few days it git better or i just did not notice anymore, overall this is a great device and good value for money for the future.

As a DAD with Thermostat anxiety the Nest gives me the security that if ANYONE touches the Thermostat, I can drop it back to the cost saving mode it should be at. The ease of use, the reminders to change the air filter is a DADS dream when it comes to Thermostat control. Very easy install made me look like a professional to may family and all the praise that goes with it. I would highly recommend this to any DAD out there who's job is keeping Heating and A/C cost under control to get one of these. The app let's me adjust the temp....even when I'm not there. FYI if you have a wife who has hot flashes, all advice above is null and void. ENJOY!

I have changed all the thermostats in the house with these. The installation is relatively easy once you successfully install the first one. I love the physical look and design. I also like the ease of use. You can work it manually or digitally from your enabled devises. I have yet to experience any material benefits outside of what I listed above. I’m curious to see the cost savings over time. I’m also curious to see how effectively home/away works. All in all, it’s a small price to pay for helping to save the planet one house at a time.

We bought 2, upstairs and downstairs. The instructions were really easy to follow. Our house is a little older, so we did have to manually connect an extra, exisiting wire to be the C-wire. Totally worth it. It's only been a month and it's the middle of summer, so it's hard to say if it's saving us money on energy usage, but it's so nice to be able to drop the temp from the app. Programming a schedule is easy, and it just looks so slick on the wall.

I have owned an older version of the Nest Thermostat and had a few problems that were taken care of and replaced by Nest for free. I moved into a new house and bought two 3rd generation thermostats for the upper and lower areas of the house. They are easy to install (30 minutes) and very stunning on the wall compared to a standard squared thermostat. So far, I have no issues with both of them and love the ease of use with the Nest/Google app! Worth the money!

I bought the Nest Thermostat to replace my failed older Honeywell thermostat from Vivint and it was one of the easiest and most intuitive installations I’ve ever done in my home. The product is beautiful and elegant in my hallway next to my security panel and allows me to use it with its dedicated app or can be controlled from my security system’s app. An excellent smart home product as expected of the Google Nest line of products. I would definitelt recommend it to anyone looking to have an easy to use thermostat that helps regulate their settings easier and better as well as having a good atarting point to have a truly intrgrated smart home ecosystem.

This is the second "smart" thermostat I've owned and it is by far more advanced than the previous (another brand). Setup and installation was pretty seamless. It's extremely user friendly, which is a huge advantage over the other unit I had. The visual display is easy to read and customizable. There's a fair amount of functionality that I don't know I'll use on this. What I like so far about it after a month or so: 1. Ability to show temp outside on the face. 2. Setting a schedule is easy. I haven't explored the learning side of the thermostat too much since we have the schedule set. 3. Adjust the temp via phone app. 4. It has automatically detected me away a few times, so I know that works. Haven't needed it much WFH during COVID though. 5. Energy history. Shows me how the weather has impacted my energy use. The entire Eco setup of the device is great. The one con is that Alexa integration doesn't seem to work as well in hybrid (heat and cool) mode. We're in that season in Florida right now and Alexa gets confused when I try to adjust the temp by voice. Not a huge issue as the app works fine. When I had it just on AC (cool), voice control worked fine. Overall, it's an expensive thermostat that I don't think I will 100% utilize to the fullest, but the ease of use and higher quality app and design made it worth it for me.

I had to replace my old Gen 1 Nests due to a surge from lightning. I don’t see any difference betweeen these and my old ones because the the new features aren’t really helpful to me. However, these are reliable, always connected and I can easily change any settings from my phone. I don’t use the learn option. I set a schedule and let the schedule run everything. I think the learn option would be too much to have to think about (constantly changing the temperature). One of the best options is the home/away setting and using our cell phones to alert the system when we are home or away. When our cell phones leave the WiFi network the thermostats know we are away and goes into energy saving and coming back on when one of our phones is back on the wood network. I can’t compare it to other thermostats, but this one has been great, just as the first generation.
