The app and compatibility with other devices is what initially sold me on the Nest. After using for a year we noticed issues with our AC running all the time but not always cooling, so of course I call a technician to check it out. As we found out, the Nest was the root cause that had fried our AC contactor. The contactor controls the flow of electricity to all parts of the unit. Turns out this is a very common issue with Nest. Save yourself some time and money and go with a reliable brand like Honeywell or Ecobee.

Good easy to use thermostat

In 2017 in the summer, it failed to pump out cold air and kept pumping out hot air. Nest (at the time) sent a technician and fixed it. In 2018, same problem, but this time they said the unit was defective and provided a replacement, great! In 2021, it's happened again, and google was only willing to troubleshoot online and isnt willing to send a technician or cover any costs. It's a very nice looking piece of junk. I bought another one in 2020 for another part of house thinking the issues were behind me. They werent.
