The installation instructions are terrible.

Defective unit - Install difficult

DIY install time 60 minutes, finally called Nest and spent 90 minutes more with them until they conceded it was a defective product. First they tried to say my installation was incorrect, then they wanted me to hire a licensed electrician, finally after more time and testing they admitted the unit was defective. Warranty covered the replacement part, shipped it to me and the 2nd install was less than 30 minutes since the unit worked. A lot of time wasted and I did not feel that Nest valued my time.
