I wanted to add this to our smart home as I already have the amazon echo and Phillips hue lights. Everything has integrated wonderfully and I can even lock the temperature with a password restriction.

This thermostat was so bad I uninstalled it. Nothing but problems. It took way too long to reach desired temp compared to my old one and would create its own schedule even when all of the automated features were completely turned off.

Hi Kb124,
Thanks for letting us know of your experience and we're really sorry to hear Nest Learning Thermostat didn't meet your expectations.
If your Nest Learning Thermostat changes the temperature even though you've already turned off the learning feature, Auto-Schedule. It may be because of the existing schedules that were set before you turned off the learning feature.
To completely clear the existing schedules, you can select Settings > Reset > Schedule, then select Reset on your Nest thermostat. Clearing all the schedules should prevent the thermostat from changing the temperature on its own.
If you'd like us to work on your system and thermostat to understand why it may be taking longer to reach the desired temperature, please feel free to reach out to us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/contactflow

I bought this item after check the compatibility with the system that was already had in my home, but when i installed it, it wasn't working properly. The wires were setup exactly how nest asked to put them, but it wasn't working.
I did the whole process, it wasn't cooling at all, so i removed and put back my previous Thermostat.

Had a little trouble with installation, but Nest help line sorted out the problem. Since then it's been great, sets my schedule and tracks hours used to reduce cost of electric bill. Definitely happy with this purchase

Doesn't work for long. After about a year of use it started falling all over the place and disconnecting from the Wi-Fi and going blank screen. We'd notice that air would be off for hours and the notice that the nest was just black screen. Not good.

Hi Rvfarmstead, thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the Nest Learning Thermostat and it’s unfortunate to learn that it didn’t work for long. We understand how inconvenient it could have been for you when your system was off for few hours.
If your Nest thermostat isn't receiving enough power from your system wires and a common (C) wire is not connected to the thermostat, it will slowly start draining the battery which may result in an unexpected shutdown or disconnecting itself from your Wi-Fi network to preserve power. It may also be related to Wi-Fi connectivity issues where the battery drains due to the network usage of the device.
You may try to completely disconnect your Nest thermostat from the Wi-Fi network and try to use it manually for at least 24 hours. If the issue is resolved while it is disconnected, the battery drain could be caused by your Wi-Fi network. If the issue continues to occur, then the system wires are probably not delivering enough power, and your Nest Learning Thermostat may need a common (C) wire to get adequate power to stay charged up.
We may also need to learn more about this issue as there could be other several reasons why your thermostat goes off. If you haven’t yet, we suggest getting in touch with our dedicated team and we’ll do our best to help improve your experience, here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

I bought this and works great but you need to manually add settings for the all 7 days and sometimes when I use the dual heat\ ac it needs to be set for certain times and at what temperature you want wether it be ac or heat. Just a pain.

My only gripe is that it isn't touch screen. Who turns a dial in 2016? I bought a Honeywell, but it didn't integrate with my Apple home or google home, so I changed to Nest. It's fine. But not as cool looking or as easy as the Honeywell wifi.
Definitely has more integration with my life though. Worth the buy if you want to use a device to control it

I don’t remember disliking any piece of technology quite as much as these thermostats. When I bought them, I was really excited for their potential. I mean, they are beautiful. But like a vapid trophy spouse, they serve no real purpose and only serve to accelerate my search for a replacement. I actually despise these things with the whole of my being.
First - all of the the hype is entirely unwarranted. I don’t see any real benefit from the “smart” or “learning” features of this thermostat. In fact, the complexity only creates issues. Learning? Hah, yeah right. One year in, and i am still adjusting the temp manually all the time. Could I program it? Sure but my old ones were 1/10th of the price and did the same thing. Old school programmables are light years better.
Second - connectivity and power issues CONSTANTLY plague my two units. I have two zones, one which is brand new construction. Even with a 24V C wire, the unit constantly disconnects from the wifi and eventually drains.
Tomorrow, I will be removing these units and reinstalling my $40 programmables. Then I will gift the Nests to the person who I truly hate most in life, so they can live a frustrating and anxious life in a poorly heated home. It’s a $300 glitter bomb.
Stay far, far away from these things and save yourself time, money, and frustration.

Great product but was disappointed when Google took over. They are building a walled garden and I didn’t like that idea. If that doesn’t matter to you then this is by far a great thermostat and beats the others with it’s appearance. Only down sides were no Siri compatibility, and limited data downloads.
