I bought this for my wife and she had to set it up on her own which went fine (she's not too tech savvy). She was very impressed by the picture and we are very satisfied with the TV. We use an Apple TV which pairs nicely with it. Blue ray DVDs look great, overall a great 55in 4K. This is my second Hisense and I have never had a problem with the Brand. Compares spec wise to other name brand TVs budget models and costs about 100 or so less. Buy em while they are cheaper, before demand goes and with it the price...

I got this tv on black friday for a great price. The size is great for a bedroom. The quality and sound are great. The android os built in this tv is by far the best tv os/software I have come across. This os has the best and most apps, it's very smooth when navigating, and very quick in responding. Sling works super quick on this tv unlike on lg os and roku is. The user interface is great as well very user friendly. I hanged this tv with the $20 no stud tv mount, which is one of the best and most affordable mounts ever. This tv is light in weight. Highly recommended.

I was excited to get this at such a low price. The 4k was great and Dolby vision on Netflix worked great at first. Audio was also great. Problem was after about an hour, while watching Hulu the wifi kept on getting disconnected and then the screen went blank. I had to re start it and it happened again. I had to return it and will probably buy another one just in case a got a bad one.

Decent TV once Android software is setup

I'd like to start off by saying I do home theater installs and consulting and have for past 25 years. Over that time I have owned many TVs and brands. I'm tech savvy and up to date on all the new display technology. I bought this TV solely for use in a bedroom, primarily my wife. First things first, this is my first experience with Android TV. Once I had it set up properly and had the TV added as a device to my Google home, it works great...so far. That was easier said than done. It took five separate times of restarting and reinitiating the setup to get this up and running properly. I have six displays in my house and this was the only one by far that was a pain to get setup. I can see many people who don't know what they're doing having issues with the setup. If you're not concerned with linking it to your Google account and a Google home setup, maybe you won't have the same issues. With all of the intelligence and money Google has, I don't know why something like Android TV and some of their other quirky setups are so unintuitive and fussy. Why don't they just look at how easy everything could be by looking at Roku. Plain and simple, when you go to set the TV up the Google setup doesn't work. I had to bypass it, go to the normal setup menu in settings, connect to the Wi-Fi and do the setup with Wi-Fi first, then go all the way back and reinitiate the Google settings. If you do it out of order, (what you have to do to connect WiFi) you will not get all of the settings required to check off for Google to get it to work with your Google home. You'll have to start all over from scratch again. It shouldn't be a frustrating process. The other problem is if you don't do it right, you will not initiate the Android system update. This alone took 10 minutes to download and install. That's with me having over 200mb download speed. In the end, the setup process was a keep trying it again fiasco. 5th time was a charm though! With all that said, once the TV is set up, everything's pretty straightforward. Everyone will have their preferences for how they want their display setup as far as picture settings go, so I won't get into that. What I did do is shut off all the video processing and deactivated the auto backlight. Even though I set all of my picture settings to apply to every application/input, I had to do it all over again when I launched a different app. It didn't remember my settings. The interface did freeze on me several times as well. I didn't have to restart, I just had to wait until it finally caught up with itself. This TV is replacing a Vizio V(5)-series 50-inch that was only a week old. I just wasn't happy with the picture quality, very muted colors, and being handicapped by minimal built-in Smartcast apps. I don't know when Vizio is going to figure out everyone doesn't want to have a phone in their hand to just flip through apps to watch shows on TV that aren't even available to download to the home page. Just a dumb decision. Taking that into account, that's the beauty of Android TV, you can virtually load anything you want. There is a browser, there is Google and Alexa voice commands, there is the Google play store, and even Dolby Vision, although it doesn't state it anywhere on the box. Don't let the "Dolby Vision" logo fool you you either. Just because its there doesn't mean you're going to get inky black levels. You won't. At this price point this display does not have a Wide Color Gamut or any local dimming zones. Chromecast is also built in. The TV will accept voice commands for powering on and off, pause, play and accessing apps. Voice commands even work in the Play store. The remote does have a microphone right at the center. All you need to do is hold down the Google icon on the remote and speak directly into it. If you have another Google device like a mini in the room, it will also send commands to the TV. The picture quality is much better on this TV than the Vizio V(5)-series. Colors are richer, better blacks, overall just a better picture to look at. The Vizio V just has a very bland look to it regardless of the settings you use. I noticed the picture quality difference on this Hisense TV right away, in a good way. As far as audio goes, the speakers are average for a TV. I personally would highly recommend a soundbar at minimum. In the end, I only paid $240 when this was on sale. Nothing on the market at 55" can touch this TV for $240. Now, at the normal price of $380??? That may be a different story. So far I'm happy with this TV, especially for the price I paid. If Google could just take all of the quirks out of the setup process of Android TV (linking to the Google Home app and allowing command and control), this would have gotten 5 stars. Pro's -Decent picture quality -Acceptable audio -Android TV Con's -Android TV -Initial setup -HDR/Dolby Vision are there but aren't magic without FALD and Wide Color Gamut on a VA panel.

    Best 4K Budget TV

After searching through many listings of 4K televisions I am glad I stumbled upon this TV. My expectations were blown away for the price point this TV is at. This TV is great for bedrooms/gaming rooms which was the intended use of this TV for me. The colors are crisp and vibrant and there are many options to enhance the TVs settings for your intended use. The TV is advertised at 120 HZ and gaming felt great on the PlayStation Pro, yes there are better TVs out there, but for this honest price point and what you are getting it is a great package and instantly transforms a room and your viewing experience! I highly suggest getting this TV if you are a casual viewer and want to indulge in what 4K has to offer without breaking the bank. My WiFi has been great on this TV, I streamed 4K film flawlessly however I think this can vary with your ISP upload/download speed, I’m running 250 mbps down for reference. This TV is a great starter TV or even a stocking stuffer/upgrade for those who are still on 1080p or lower, I highly recommend this TV!

    Amazing TV for my Xbox

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I recently purchased this on Wednesday and arrived on Thursday early morning. The 4K quality of the TV is amazing when connected to my Xbox One X. I had to fiddle around the settings in order for 4K 10bit HDR to appear, but it was an easy task to do. The TV came with the box and I was looking around for the Dolby Vision logo and couldn't find it and was worried I got the wrong TV but I checked the model number and indeed it was the TV I bought. The Audio was something that really surprised me and blew my expectations away. The sound was very clear and loud with deep bass. I was ready to purchase a sound bar but the sound of the television was more than enough. The Android TV was something I was excited about and right away I was pleased with the performance of the TV. The materials this TV has is made out of plastic like any other TV in this price point but it isn't a con since I don't really touch the television unless I have to connect a HDMI cable. I was ready to purchase the 43 inch version of this one but the front page of Slickdeals had a direct link to this one for $10 less. The television is pretty light and I was able to set it up with ease. Overall, having HDR10, Dolby Vision, 4K,55 inch, and all for about $270 with tax was a solid deal to me. Comparing this one to my old TCL 43 inch 4 series it is a surprisingly welcomed upgrade. The bottom table under this was an IKEA table I got specifically for this TV for about $65 and was well worth it. This TV is well worth the money and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great TV.

First, I wouldn't pay full price for this TV. The image looks good if seen straight on, but diminishes at angles. Sound is 'meh' with internal speakers. It is light for its size, which makes hanging it so much easier with one person. The downside is the AndroidTV software. It would be ok if weren't so slow. And it's preferable to use the native software than say a fire tv stick, because when certain content on said stick starts it will enter the HDR or Dolby Vision mode and it'll want to stay that way even when you exit the program which causes the colors to then get weird. To get rid of that you need to return to the main android screen or power cycle. So to avoid this you stay in the android tv software which is slow. Also, I can't get the chromecast function to work without doing a power cycle. TLDR: it's not terrible but barely ok.

I gotta say the price to performance here for this unit is great. Threw it in my living room and the whole family loves it.. I have a bit of light bleeding through on my unit but overall as long as you don't just sit on a static black background you're good to go. I recommend this set, the feathers are good. Android TV isn't perfect but it works given out specific budget at the time.

Purchased this TV during a sale that brought the price down to $240. There is little information on this new TV, but similar Hisense Android TVs looked to be a decent deal with quality picture and sound, and I was looking for an alternative to Roku and Amazon Fire smart TVs. Set up is easy, especially for those with a Google account. Software was a bit slow, but manageable. It didn't take long to get the picture and sound running smoothly. HDR and Dolby Vision easily detected with Netflix and other streaming apps. There weren't an abundance of picture options and the quality wasn't perfect, but solid for a TV in this price range. The sound was actually impressive from a budget unit, and there were various options to emphasize sound effects or clearly hear dialogue. Unfortunately as I've been using this TV, I've discovered how awful the Android TV software is inside of it. It is hard to set picture quality up because it tends to change when I use different apps, even when selecting the "All Sources" option. Some options are grayed out and can never be used, regardless of what mode you select. For example, I cannot change the picture size -- it is always set to wide (which is full frame, something that is needed for gaming or Twitch, but not for traditional shows and movies). The Wi-Fi tends to bug out and stop working (and all my other devices are still connected), which requires a restart, and that means going through all the way to the settings, scrolling all the way down to the last option, and then hitting restart. There is no way to turn off the TV speakers if you have a sound bar that utilizes digital audio out and not ARC. This is the first HDTV I've experienced without that option. Forget about Bluetooth sound -- half the apps and HDMI inputs will not have video and audio in-sync. Perhaps the biggest issue is that no app can run videos at 60 FPS. Even when forcing the option on Youtube or Twitch, it is clearly not moving at 60 FPS and there are no video options to tinker with motion. Things are much better when hooking up a Playstation 4 or a laptop (and noticeably, even video is better). There tends to be some jitters, but clearly this software is so bad that it cannot hit 60 FPS, which the TV can do from other sources. This TV is best used as a secondary TV, and with three HDMI ports, you're better off using standalone media boxes and avoiding the Android TV software entirely. Because this unit is new, I'm holding out that there will either be more options unlocked or the software is better optimized through updates due to the price I got it, but there are much better options out there above $300.

Excellent 4k tv for the price. Very clear picture, especially from streaming services - actual signal from my Xfinity box isn't as high quality, but that's more of a Comcast issue because the HDTV antenna I bought shows live over the air broadcasts in crystal clear quality. Only downsides that I've experienced so far have to do with the smart tv aspect, which may or may not be due to software issues. Some apps (notably Hulu) dony show up on the home screen, and some apps (also notably Hulu) don't play video (audio only) right away and kinda glitch out, having to pause and rewind and start over. This could be a software glitch or the TVs computing power might be limited. Oh yeah, and the Google assistant voice remote doesn't work anywhere near as good as on my Fire stick or my Xfinity remote, rendering it kinda useless. But again, all the negatives are more software related than tv related. This really is a great tv for the orice!

Very nice picture quality in UHD. Sound okay with downfiring speakers...could use a little more bass. Don't like the volume control on the remote. One has to tap it everytime to increase or decrease the volume one increment at a time. Would have preferred a volume control with a buttom where one can press the volume control and hold it down continuously until the desired level is reached. The loud shrill voice that comes on every time you change channels is annoying. Can't wait to learn how to use some of the wireless features of this set. Overall, a good buy for the price.

Overall nice TV for the money. Picture is good. Sound is typical for a flat TV nothing superb. Menu and remote are good. Only major flaw is it will occasionally freeze ( nothing too often ) but every now and then you will need to unplug from the wall to reset the TV. I would say about 1-2 times a month. Just Random times, I think its a software/internet hang-up.

Got it on pre Thanksgiving sale -- great price. So far working very well. Great picture -- so much better from a 1080p TV. Sound volume and quality is good for an entry level 4K TV. Like the android interface. Construction -- lots of plastic, feels little flimsy -- but reasonable for the price range. Easy and cheap entry to the world of 4K UHD!
