I was pretty skeptical about this pc before I bought it. With only one exhaust fan and no liquid cooling, I was sure that it would burn itself out. Going on a whim, I bought it anyways, and I can tell you it is the best purchase I have ever made in my life. Startup was very smooth and simple, all up to date. Installing games was very fast on the m.2 ssd. To my extreme delight, I found out all Omen PCs come with the Omen Command Center, which allows you to the how the CPU, GPU, and memory are working. There are also so many other features that made the first time experience amazing. Oh and that cooling issue? It does get a bit hot while grinding on some graphic intense games, but still keeps it working cooling enough to continue at max power. 5 stars without a doubt. Thanks HP!!

Great entry PC to start off with. Its faster than most of my friends pc’s and gaming laptops so its actuslly worth it. I upgraded from a legion lenovo y530 and let me tell you the extreme improvements. First of all I can finally open games such as Rust or Escape from Tarkov and actually play them smooth. My last laptop almost had a seizure playing games like that. In fact it would take so long for it to load up a screen.
Anyways, the Rig is beautiful. It stays cool and doesn’t get hot. The graphics card can be upgraded, but the rest seems pretty good. I did all the drivers and windows updates as soon as I got it. Threw in two antiviruses and everything is doing good so far.

Overall no complaints on the computer. It works perfectly for the intended use to run an oculus rift. Only reason giving 4 starts vs 5 is a Best Buy issue not the computer. I bought this as an open box item which had been geek squad certified. I assumed it would be properly setup from a hardware/software/driver perspective. It wasn’t. Had to load proper drivers and get the HDD setup. I am quite familiar with PC’s so didn’t take too long but if this is what you can expect from geek squad certification it is pretty much worthless.

Have had this for almost a year now. Added a 4TB internal hard drive for my videos. This machine has withstood all my video editing demands. Only complaint is the dongle for my wireless keyboard and mouse wouldn't work when connected directly to the computer. So, I had to add a male to female USB A extender to move the dongle away from the desktop tower so that it will not have any (communication) conflict with other devices attached to the computer. Computer is definitely lived up to my expectations.

The most plug n play computer I've ever bought in the last 25 years. The quietest one I've ever had too.
Really nice to be able to see the temps and also to change the lighting.
Very fast computer. SS op system drive is almost instantaneous. Partitioned the gig drive into 4 drives. Plenty of room and plenty of zoom.
I'm in love with this one. Will buy another when this has seen it's better days...

SERIOUS computer for mid level PC Gaming @144 fps

I have owned this computer for a little more than 2 month. I would like to share my experience with you.
I decided to get this computer to level up from console gaming to PC gaming. I mostly play shooters so I really care about FPS. I decided to buy an MSI 24" 1080p curved gaming monitor @ 144hz to take advantage of both processor and graphics power of this PC. Next, I will list an average of FPS that I get for this computer in the following games at 1080p
1) Fortnite -Epic settings 110 fps.
How I play it anti-lasing medium, epic viewing distance, medium textures. shadows off. 144+ fps (It is way more than 144 but I cap my fps so my computer does not work more than it has to)
2) Apex Legends -Highest Settings 100 fps (Note that Apex is more graphics demanding than Fortnite)
How I Play it everything to the lowest setting but video ram allocation at 4 gb (144 fps+) Apex does not run higher fps because of Freesync.
3) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Highest settings (100-90 fps) (This game is even more demanding than Apex)
How I play it. I honestly don't remember the exact setting but I set shadows effects to its lowest and some effects to be low. I average 135-144 fps depending on the map.
I think those numbers can help you to decide if this is the computer that you want based on 1080p gaming.
For those of you that want to stream let me tell you that this computer is capable but performance is going to suffer and those 144 fps are barely reachable when streaming at 720p @60fps on OBS. Even if you go for lowest settings it might not reach 144 fps when streaming at the resolution mentioned above. The good news is that you can still average 100-120 fps while streaming depending on the game. Depending on how serious you take competitive gaming this might matter to you. In my opinion, coming from an Xbox One X this is not bad at all but I know for some people it could be better. I think that the most optimal way to stream with this computer is to buy an screen recorder like Elgato or anything similar.
This computer is STABLE. It has behaved very well even though that I have thrown a lot to it. I have made long gaming sessions in this computer 5-6 hours and this computer never dropped the performance. There was this one time I had to work with a BIM software called Lumion Pro 9.5 for over 12+ hours and this computer never dropped the performance even though that It was a very complex 3D model, I also use this computer for Revit and Navisworks and as you might expect no problems at all.
I think most of the people that get this computer is mostly focused on gaming. However even if you are not into gaming this computer is a beast and it will not let you down. I got this computer for $1079.99 and at that price I think I can say I am very satisfied with this product.
If I were to change one thing of this computer it would be the CPU cooling fan that comes with it. This computer CPU Averages 60 C when idling and 80-85 C when you ANY graphic or CPU demanding app. The computer never went higher than 87 C. Intel ships are supposed to resist temperature up to 100 C but I do not think that running a hot CPU is a good idea in the long term.
I recently updated the fan cooling of this PC to a Corsair H60 Liquid Cooling. Temperatures have seen a REAL IMPROVEMENTS with an average of 20 degree cooler when compared to the stock Intel fan. I would recommend to upgrade the cooling system of this PC to keep it running for years.
Another down side is that if you do decide to go to Liquid Cooling you have to take out the motherboard to gain access to the CPU because this model does not allow you to open the back cover of it. It can be frustrating for those that never have played with a PC it took me about 4 hours to do it but I made it with no problem. So, it is not definitely hard but it can take some time if you do know how to do it. I think for those who know how to work with internal PC part should not take more than an hour to complete.
I think that this computer is worth it for those who enjoy competitive e-sports. The 1660 Ti is an excellent graphics card. The Intel 9700 i7 is good enough. If you are not looking a gaming PC but a computer with decent performance for demanding applications but you do not want to spend a lot, this is a good one to take. Take advantage this Black Friday and get one if you are convinced!

I purchased the computer on the 11/23/19. I have had it about a week now, using it for both general purpose Internet and some game playing, and I am very impressed with the system. HP has done a fine job of putting together a powerful workhorse at a really good price point.
I also like gaming, so I downloaded a few goodies from the past like Obduction, Quern, etc. This system blazed through them like I have never seen before, flawlessly. But here is where I ran into my only concern...after about 15 minutes of game play, the CPU and exhaust fans cranked to full throttle. I quickly checked the CPU temperature on the Omen Command Center and found it to be hovering around 168 degrees F. I expect the i7 9700 is quite capable of taking the heat, but this is just too hot for me to feel comfortable with and judging from the comments, a concern to others, as well. Fortunately, there is an easy fix. I removed the glass side panel (easy to do and takes only a moment) and the internal temp began falling immediately. In just a minute it was down to a remarkably cool 105. I resumed my game play and it never reached above 125 degrees. While not very high tech, it is a quick answer for those that may be concerned with the heat when gaming. Just take it off while gaming and replace it when through.
All in all, a really nice computer that runs well. Highly recommended.

This machine is billed as a "gaming" machine and as such is adequately outfitted for most users. I am not a gamer. My needs are analytical and data driven, including photo and film editing. The latest gen i7 processor speaks for itself. Components seem to be high quality. The SSD hosts the system and other software so booting is fast. The internal 1T hard drive is not limiting since the plethora of USB ports easily supports my array of large capacity external storage. For my needs, the mid-range video and sound processors are more than adequate although a serious gamer would want higher-end cards.

First off I am not a gamer except for Solitaire, Mahjong etc etc. I like to edit images and I needed one that would run image editing programs with ease and quickness and this is perfect to do so. I have always used HP and I have not been disappointed except for the earlier Omen tower model, not the Obelisk, I bought 19 months ago when it would not boot to Win10 as the startup files disappeared so Geek Squad had to do a factory reset then reload Win 10 then after that it became a nightmare every time I booted up as it was not the computer I bought so I swapped for this one several weeks ago. The first thing I did with this computer was turn off quick start up in power setting as this causes more problems than it is worth as the computer is lightening fast at start up with the SSD and disabled wake times as well in power. I only use the HDD for images, music files, docs, storage along with a few vids. Overall this is a great computer but there seems to be two flaws I noticed which can be remedied.
1. On restart and seems to only on restart the Omen Command Center tends to give a BEX64 error or a OmenCap error in the applications event viewer and also in the Reliability History graph. Since I am not a gamer I could care less about most of the Command Center functions except for the lighting so I went into Services and set HP Omen HSA Service to manual. Errors gone and I can still use the color options for my Omen. If I want to see what my CPU, GPU, Mem Temp and utilization is I can go to Task Manager and I have a program called Speccy from Piriform to see my temps.
2. Personally I like the HP Support Assistant to keep up with critical downloads HP send out plus I can use the troubleshooting in it if I need to which is helpful but the HP Support Assistant they loaded for the computer also throws an error a startup and only at startup called SysCap.exe in the applications event viewer and also in the Reliability History graph. There seems to be a bug in the latest HP Support Assistant as the same error showed up in my wife's Envy Laptop I bought her last month. What I did to resolve this was uninstall the HP Support Assistant and install an earlier version of it. Errors gone.
I have talked with HP Support about these errors and they have seen them as I saved the error report data. The guy said not to worry about them as the Apps were still working but I am one that does not like to see an error come up on my computer and will save all data on an error and troubleshoot it to get rid of it by the MS or HP Forums.
Overall I like this computer a lot. It does what I need to do so if you are going to buy this computer them do so. You will not be disappointed.

The performance on the machine is spectacular. I am able to run a lot of games on max settings with at least 165 fps or higher. My only complaint is that when playing these games on max settings, the pc makes a lot of noise from the fan. I get worried sometimes that the desktop pc is burning itself out. Luckily the pc comes with an omen brand software that tells you the temperature of the CPU or GPU. Other than that, the price is on-point with the specs you are getting. I would say that this is a good beginner gaming rig. I give this machine a 4/5 stars.

I have always built my own but didnt want to it this time around, so i got this one. Very nice for 1,100.00 the 1 fan is a little off putting at first but havent had any over heating issues so far and I run my games at full settings.
Bloatware is at a minimum too and easy to remove if needed.
If I had to list anything bad it would be the on and off button and the USB ports location, but not a deal killer.

Purchased this computer 07/24/2019, comes with a 256gb SSD and a 1TB hard drive, Windows 10 home is installed on the SSD so computer starts extremely quickly. I did have an issue when installing an additional hard drive, although additional SATA and Power supply cables are provided for a 3rd disk, the SATA cable was disconnected from the motherboard. Once connected and powered back on, all worked great. Updated to Windows 10 Pro.

Almost had this computer 1 year it has performed beyond my expectations. Well worth the money. I bought mine thru open box and have no problems at all. Runs fast. I do coding and gaming and nothing really slows it down. (Unless I am really killing a game the frame rate slows it) All in all if you can't afford a top shelf gaming comp. This is just as good.

Take a look at this one if you’re looking to edit photos. It comes with one memory bank filled with a 16GB SIMM, which means that can easily add another one, bringing this to 32GB. Super fast SSD means fast booting and program response. It comes with a 1 TB traditional hard drive and it has one additional bay open for one more drive. No CD/DVD — but I have not missed it.

Everything is running smoothly. No lag, no crashing games. Ive played R6 Siege for hours on end with pretty high settings and the computer has no difficulty. I hear from reviews that the cooling is a little sub-par, but I have no issues even when I am playing for more than three or four hours. I will update the review if I find anything of significance.

This was my first PC, and after looking around and asking around, I found this beast for a pretty reasonable price about similar to what the parts and build would have been separately. This is about my 10th day owning and I’m extremely happy. Don’t even need to overclock all my games run at max settings (and I have the opportunity to do so with the 1660ti later on).

It's quick, easy to setup but I didn't like that Mcafee was installed and I didn't like the new office rental program on it but that's not the computers fault. Its efficient and can handle everything I need. I would recommend for those who need the better graphics card and big hd. Biggest downfall is the cost, but a good computer isn't cheap.
