The HP Spectre is hyper-fast, good looking and has a brilliant and sharp contrast screen, I haven't used all the features yet, but I like it a lot. I had the 13" but I found the screen a bit smaller than my previous Apple MacBook Air so I switched to the 15", which is great, but it is a bit heavier.

It heats up quite quickly; the speakers are excellent for music and streaming videos etc, but when not in use, they are quite noisy; no SD card slot though enough ports for plugging in external card reader etc; the battery does not last as long as claimed, even when just uploading photos and doing normal emails, etc; the Pen is not as effective as my fingers. But these are not deal breakers.

This notebook is nearly perfect. When I purchased the Spectre X-360 I knew I was buying probably the best notebook available on the planet.
My only complaint is the USB port locations. The full size USB Port is on the left side. I plug my mouse in this port. I use my right hand to control my mouse....doesn't everyone? (I'm left handed...but I still use my right hand for mousing) I've never seen a mouse with USB-C connector. So I connect my mouse on the left side of the machine and wrap the cable around the back to the right side.
The 2 USB-C ports are on the right side of the notebook. So if I am charging, I have the charging cable fighting for desk space with the mouse.
It's extremely awkward and a huge design mistake. Just silly.
If the engineers could not figure this out....I wonder what else is awkward or backwards inside the notebook??
Actually the port locations are my only gripe. Otherwise it is a beautiful machine and has been operating flawlessly.

You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here! Now I don't game, but I do just about everything else with this unit. I knew before hand that I'd be sacrificing some battery life for this beautiful 4k screen, but for me it's worth it. I don't use it all day and I don't get the battery drain some were experiencing overnight a while back. I use it a couple hours here and half hour there thus It's great for my use. At least it has quick charge capabilities.
Pros
*Gorgeous 4K (Non pentile) Movies are sharp & detailed and it's easier for me to read
*7th Gen (Kaby Lake) i7-7500U processor -Battery life appears to be better (for what your getting) than on my older skylake (6th generation), but it's so tough to figure out because they're different configurations. And I have no slow downs as the kabylake appears to be more responsive. YMMV
*16g DDR3 RAM
*512GB solid state drive
*Fast boot time (Less than 6 seconds counting windows hello)
*Active Pen (Included) with Pen & handwriting recognition (works well for me) And I use an old Yoga Lenovo stylus usb adaptor/holder to to keep it attached to the machine when not in use.
*Quick Charge HP states 50% in 30 minutes (I've got to 90% in 85 minutes). I'm happy with that.
*I'm glad that there's Windows Hello on this version
*Keyboard 1.3 mm of key travel & 60 grams of actuation (both good for how I type), keyboard extends all the way out to the edge (though I'm still warming up to the home key, page up key and such on living completely the right side)
*Web Camera is on top
*Good trackpad
*Speakers (Quad speakers) sound great They get loud enough (even in tablet mode.
* 2 USB 3.1 Type C Ports (I always carry a multi-port adapter with ethernet capability
*Thunderbolt 3 support on both of the usb type C ports (So I'm future proof)
*Trouble free wireless connections
*Beautiful Dark Ash Color Scheme (Better contrast worth the keyboard)
*Weghs less than 3 lbs & measures a half an inch thick thus making tablet mode easier
Cons
*No SD card, but 512gb is big enough for my needs. Also if need to transfer files I can just use my trusty old usb-c and standard usb adapter shown in the pic below
*Only 5-6 hours of battery on 75% brightness so I can do better with if I lower the brightness. So one mentioned that you also decrease the resolution to save some juice. Not necessary for e to do either yet.
*Only one level of backlighting
*Screen is sort of glossy
*Can't charge with battery pack (And I was never promised that I could, but it would have been nice)
-Can get hot (not just warm) and the fan noise may start or increase during basic tasks
TLDR: Get it! It looks great and functions even better for less (OF YOUR MONEY) than other machines in this category!

I bought this laptop mainly to use for school and for netflix. It is thin and small enough to fit in my backpack which was the point of buying it. The laptop is really fast and works great for what I need. The 4k display is amazing super crisp and clear, perfect for watching movies on! The i7 in the model I got is quick on startup even with fast start-up disabled! I use the face recognition to unlock the laptop and it recognizes me within 2 seconds. Typing on this keyboard is really nice, the keys feel great for a laptop. The 2-1 feature is also an added bonus, I rarely will use it but just having it available is nice to know. The build quality is amazing, metal casing was the perfect choice for this light laptop and the hinges are very sturdy too! Overall this is a great laptop for the money and I would recommend it!

Bought the Spectre x360 2-in-1 13.3" 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB Solid State Drive - Dark ash silver
I did look at the similarly equipped Lenovo - Yoga 910 What sold me on the Spectre was positive reviews but here and CNET, the look /form factor which is gorgeous, its performance and that fact it included the pen. I really wanted to buy the Lenovo with its Watch strap hinge BUT there were too many negative comments on the reliability of the Lenovo and I wasnt willing to take the risk.
Love the Spectre, I guess the only downside is the fact you only have 1 USB & 2 USB-C ports, but what do you expect of you want a cool thin lightweight 2-in-1 Laptop..
So expect to have to buy a USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter that includes HDMI/LAN / USB Ports etc..
I'd buy it again..

Amazing laptop. Extremely fast start up speed when first starting and when awaking from being sleep. Sleek and stylish design. Love the color and the size is perfect for traveling. Doesn't weigh down my book bag or briefcase. Also great that i can have multiple tabs open and there's no lag The only issue, which isn't a huge issue, is how hot the laptop gets. The battery life is ok given the 4k but i'm usually always plugged in so it's not a huge issue. Overall, great performing product.

I spent a lot of time looking for a new laptop. I have grown to love the HP Spectre for a number of reasons.
1.) It is very lightweight, but feel durable.
2.) The pen feature is great to use for presentations or notes.
3) The sound is superb. My last 2-in-1 had speakers on the bottom. The Spectre has them on the top where they belong.
4.) HP's proprietary software is some of the most useful that I have seen.
5.) The keyboard layout is fantastic! Call me old-fashioned, but I love to have 'home' and 'end' keys. I could not find any other 13" 2-in-1 that has them.
Cons
1.) It does get warm, but not as much as other laptops that I have owned.
2.) The battery life on this is somewhat limited: max 4-5 hours. Probably because this laptop has the 4k screen.
3.) Any 4k screen is going to require either new Adobe programs (like Photoshop), or reworking the display somehow. Adobe, Windows 10, and 4k don't seem to get along very well.

I haven't had a laptop in a few years and aesthetic has a lot to do with my decision. But in comparison as far as I can tell... It's a fantastic laptop... Majority of the specs on the computer beat the macbook pro w/ touchbar and it does more.... It has facial recognition and its a touch screen... So you know, just a little bit better than a single bar. Also the space gray or whatever the color is called with the gold accent makes the laptop look so clean.
The only bad thing I can say about the whole thing so far is that it only has one usb port but has to usb-c ports? Like i hadn't even heard about a usb-c port until i got this laptop and apparently its going to be the new thing.... fortunately they have an adapter for usb-c for usb so its not a deal breaker... I just personally don't understand it.

I had a 2016 12" Macbook beforehand, which I had bought in May of 2017, since my old 2012 15" Retina Macbook Pro's SSD card wasn't working, apparently fried, after Apple technicians inspected the laptop. I assumed that the Macbook would be sufficient in my senior level physic courses at the university I attend. Well, first week of advanced lab, I needed LABView, which was not supported on the Mac OS X. This frustrated me a lot, since I couldn't return the Macbook now, since the return period was way beyond expired. As a result, I started looking at Best Buy for a formidable Windows 10 powered laptop. After searching thoroughly, I had located this laptop - the one I'm reviewing right now - instantly I noticed the faster processing compared to the 2016 12" Macbook. I have not used the stylus, to be honest, I prefer typing, if possible. So, I will not comment on the stylus usage. Aside from that, the laptop is an excellent choice for any college student. Definitely lightweight, almost makes one think that they are utilizing an Apple Macbook.
The main con I would like to mention involves the gestures with the touchpad, more specifically the scrolling. I normally use Chrome due to the cross device syncing, however, the touchpad doesn't appear to work with the back and forward touchpad gestures, while it works perfectly with the Microsoft Edge browser. I was going to start using Microsoft Edge browser, since it is very fast, sadly Microsoft hasn't released an Android version, so I'm stuck with Chrome, for now. Secondly, the scrolling, in several applications, scrolls way too fast, even when slightly swiping downward - I don't mean swiping, but moving two fingers upward/downward. I have tried lowering and increasing the touchpad sensitivity, although this did not assist in the scrolling speed. This has been annoying, many individuals are accustomed to the touchpad gestures of scrolling, which occurs at a good pace, dependent on the two fingers velocity downward and upward on the touchpad. One solution would be to buy a wireless (bluetooth) mouse or a wired version. However, many would expect that the touchpad gestures wouldn't be totally random on numerous applications.
Although the scrolling can be very annoying at times, the device cannot be excluded from potential laptops to buy, since it exceeds everywhere else, as far as I can tell. Definitely well worth the buy!
P.S. Keep in mind the 4K display makes certain applications scaled very down, even though the graphics are amazing, it can be a nuisance at times.
Also if anyone has a solution to my scrolling predicament, I am open to suggestions.

I was hesitant to break with 15 years' tradition of sticking with Dell laptops, but the latest XPS line expensive, and it seems that HP And Lenovo have caught up to Dell in performance and form factor for less $. This 13" Spectre x360 Convertible is a gorgeous machine, beautifully constructed and designed. It's razor-thin and blindingly fast at bootup and shutdown. My only disappointments/frustrations are the buttonless touchpad (my first... and even after 3 months' use, I'm still not a fan), and wishing that the screen brightness and keyboard illumination would both automatically adjust to ambient light levels. I've solved the touchpad issue with a Bluetooth mouse, and just accepted the latter.
Big pluses that led me to choose this over the Lenovo Yoga 910 are the existence of a dedicated column of keys on the right edge for Del/Home/PgUp/PgDn/End, and a normal-width right-Shift key. The Lenovo relegates the H/PU/PD/E column to Alt- combinations with the directional keypad, and even more heinously, places the UpArrow key *in between* the slash and Right-Shift keys! (and shrinks the Rt-Shift to half-width to accommodate this!). I tried to live with this odd keyboard for a couple weeks, but was constantly hitting UpArrow when I wanted Shift, with dire consequences for whatever I was typing! I see now that within just the past couple months, Lenovo has released a new Yoga 920 that rectifies the maimed Shift key by switching to half-height Up/Down keys like the HP Spectre has. Hey, at least they learned quickly!
One last difference between the HP and Lenovo in favor of the HP is the camera placement. Both computers adopted "micro-bevels" around the screen like the Dell XPS, but whereas Lenovo went the Dell route of using a microbevel at the top & forcing the camera to the space below the screen, HP chose to keep a taller top bevel (and shorter bottom bevel) which allowed them to keep the camera on top. This is a much more natural location for the camera that doesn't give your video chat buddies a view up your nostrils!
So in all - not much I would change, except to have a "traditional" buttoned touchpad, and light-sensitive display & backlighting. At that point, I'd have to call it "perfect"!

I shopped and studied a lot before I bought the HP Spectre. In fact I bought something else first, and decided to return that one and get what I really wanted. This laptop is a super fast, super lightweight powerhouse. The keyboard is perfect for me - great feel, solid and and click-y, NOT mushy, rubbery or weird. Battery life is excellent and the screen and sound are both amazingly sharp. It is a serious computer and commands respect. I love this thing.

This is HP's top of the line. Lightning fast, a 4K screen that's a thing of beauty, and as slim and light as any MacAir.
There are a couple of things to know about. With the super high-rez screen some apps don't resize correctly and that can cause text issues. Also, with a 4K screen, I7 processor, and 16 GB of ram the battery life isn't the 10-12 hours they brag about. However, when you watch 4K video, it's breathtaking.

A great laptop indeed. Sleek Design, dark ash color with combination of chrome gold almost bezel-less design is really great. Such a Light weight and 360 degree design is just great. considering 7th gen i7 and 16GB I thought it'd be just silent laptop but rarely its cooling fan rings some sound when it runs at high speed but it happens rarely and it goes for half a minute to 1/2 minutes sometimes but it's perfectly fine.

I did a couple of months of research on this and a comparative Lenovo laptop. My main considerations were portability, battery life, fast processor/memory, and screen/picture quality as I would be using mostly for image editing (freelance photographer).
This model had stellar reviews, has a long lasting battery, and I chose the 4k display for photos.
This model is the 512Gb SSD, 16gb ram, Core i7 7500U processor. It is VERY fast to render all my photos and completes image editing faster than any computer I have owned previously. My workflow time has been reduced substantially.
The only downside I have seen is the 4k display has some issues with several programs I have installed as they do not render properly on this screen (this is a known issue with a lot of Windows programs and 4k). I did find a workable "fix" for the issue, but it is still a little frustrating as it does not use the 4k to its full advantage with the "fix". Luckily, the workaround is program specific so it only affects a certain number of programs.
This model is the dark gray with copper accents and it looks great and does not show fingerprints/smudges on the outside like other shinier laptops I have used.
Very lightweight (feels lighter to hold than my wife's MacBook air 13") and has a touchscreen that is very responsive.
The built-in trackpad is oversized so getting used to the right-click area has been a challenge, but the trackpad feels solid and has good feel when pressing.
Overall, I would highly recommend this laptop for anyone who needs a lot of processing power/speed and wants a very lightweight and portable laptop.

This is one of the best Windows PC's on the market. 4k, Windows ink compatible, touch screen display, a 512GB SSD, 16 GB of RAM and 2x USB-C with 1x standard USB for any older devices. Not much more to ask for in such a portable laptop. The charger is USB-C.
After coming from a Surface Pro 3, I found that using this HP Spectre x360 was a little big to use comfortably as a tablet. That being said, if you can place it on a tabletop or other surface so that you can write or draw on it, having the extra real estate can be worthwhile.
The keyboard is really nice, and I can enjoy typing on it. The keys are backlit which is a nice feature to have at night.

Love this 2 in 1. Bought an open box item which had the top end of all of the options for this 2 in 1. Since it was certified by the Geek Squad I felt confident in the purchase. Love the lightening speed in start-up (boot), display clarity and video responsiveness. Overall design is good. Super thin and lightweight. Makes it my all around tablet and PC. Travels well, can be used easily in a classroom or a meeting.
Con - charger not always reliable. Have to jiggle to be sure it is making a connection.
And the 2 in 1 runs very hot. UNCOMFORTABLY!! Cannot just place it on a lap to use it.
