Really good - better than I expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The design is great. The hinge allows me to use the x360 like a tablet. I did try the HP pen but it wasn't good so I opted for the Dell Venue pen instead. It just works better. With regards to performance I've had some minor challenges. This is an i7 with 8GB but it seems to "work harder" when I have Lightroom and Photoshop running and loaded up with pictures. Indeed both programs are memory intensive; however, on other similar configured systems the performance is better. This is my only concern. If you're just using this to browse or Word docs you won't notice any issues. I have been making sure parameters are proper in both LR and PS but still there's something. I may remove unnecessary programs to see if it makes an impact on performance. It should fly. The keyboard is great. The Screen and Battery life is fantastic for my purposes- enable Battery saver it helps. I do not notice the fan coming on like others but it has from time to time- nothing big to me. The available ports are really nice. The pad takes some time getting used to. Indeed it's large but that not a bad thing. The Finish is just great The other thing I like is I can open it up and replace the SSD if I really had to. I returned a new Surface 4 16gb i5 for this unit. While it was a joy I just feel this better suits my needs. Plus 500gb SSD is just ideal for photography files.

The full package
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Light. Powerful. Capable. This laptop is capable of running all my graphics programs. I was having trouble reliably remoting in to my super desktop but the specter has enough horsepower to be reliable enough to successfully work on the road. Thanks to a full I7

Worthy to switch back to Windows
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a Mac user for the past 10 years and I swore I would never go back to Windows. Well, never say never... HP Spectre 13 is definitely a world class computer, the closest windows operating system laptop to a Macbook Air with even more features! I priced a similar Macbook Air and it came to $1,749.99. And guess what, it's not touchscreen and it's not 2-in-1. The Spectre 13 is a clear winner at $1,399! Pros: - QHD, i7, 512gb SSD, 8gb, 2-in-1, touchscreen for less than Macbook Air - Awesome battery life - Comfortable keypad - Responsive touchpad - Full HDMI, most ultrabook such as Macbook Air, Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 didn't have this - It came with a neoprene sleeve Cons: - Annoying variable fan noise - Keypad button light stays on as an indicator. I guess It meant to be useful, but I found it to be annoying. - HP bloatware, But it's easy fix, I just did a clean install. It took no more than 30 mins to do this. All and all, I am happy to add this to my gadget collection in addition to my aging Macbook Pro mid 2010.

And the winner is... HP Spectre!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is super solid and trustworthy! I know some reviews talk about problems with it, but the only problem I've found is with Windows 10 as an OS, not the computer. But even in this, it's gotten better already! It was overheating a little at the beginning but once I did the windows and hp updates, I really haven't had a problem! I did a TON of research before buying this and I think for the price, which I got it for $999, this computer blows out any other pc or 2-in-1 out there. The specs are nuts and everything comparable is at least 500 bucks more expensive. This beats the surface pro 4 and the mac pro on home computer work and for school/work. And it's light and very portable for a laptop. But know it is more of a laptop than a tablet, although I read books in tablet mode and I enjoy it! I also own a mac for my work and I like this better. And for a mac with these specs, I'd be paying around 1800 bucks I think. So yeah! It's totally worth it! I hope this helps you decide on what to go with! Amen!

Beautiful Little Powerhouse!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They say good things come in small packages, but not here, GREAT things come in this little package. First, this HP Spectre x360 is clearly the 2015 top rated 13" 2 in 1. With its 4th generation i7 processor, 512GB SSD (Solid State Drive), awesome 4K display, beautiful styling, and 8GB RAM, this is one beautiful powerhouse. Improved WiFi allowed me to log onto the web at home, fast food burger places, coffee houses, and at our local library, all flawlessly. The battery lasts 12+ hours on a charge, and even 6+ hours with constant use! I do wildlife photography all over the world, and wanted a small lightweight laptop to preview my images at the end of each travel day and to move the images from their SD card to the internal drive and then to two portable hard drives. My 13" Spectre x360 fit the bill perfectly. Since its only drive is an SSD, it's only moving part is a single cooling fan. This allows me to copy files from my SD cards using the built-in SD reader and then store them on the solid-state drive while riding as a passenger. And with no moving drive parts, I never worry about corrupting data. Being a 2 in 1, I can switch into tablet mode and easily work on my lap. When I get back to my room at night I simply copy the contents of the days shoot from the internal SSD onto two separate portable drives, recharge my batteries, and I'm good for another day! While I rate this 5 out of 5 stars, there are still a couple of areas HP can improve upon: The Spectre x360 is just OK with handling heat (it can get a bit warm surfing the web for an hour or more, but never "overheats"); there is no way (yet?) to increase the memory (though 8GB is sufficient for most needs); and HP doesn't appear to offer any free training to help you get the most out of the unit (But YouTube does). All in all, this is the best 13" 2 in 1 available in summer 2015. And for the money, it blows away the competition! You might call it the Windows version of a 13" MacBook Pro... just a little bit better!

Best Laptop I've owned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was replacing a 2 year old laptop that was beginning to run slowly and driving me crazy. I knew I wanted Solid State Drive, and quickly settled on this computer. I could not be happier with it. I thought the smaller screen size would bug me, but it hasn't bothered me at all. The screen quality is amazing and super crisp. I use the touch screen way more than I ever thought I would, and it ends up saving me tons of time. This computer is noticeably faster than my old computer (which was an i5), but mostly because of the start-up time. I cannot describe how much pleasure I get in having my laptop ready to go in under 10 seconds every time. It's just amazing! The only thing I don't love is the size of the trackpad. It's huge, and I have not found it to be quite as responsive as my old trackpad. But it's not an issue. I bought a $20 wireless mouse that works wonders and is so much easier to use than the trackpad, so it's all good :) I did buy the HP stylus to go with this, but honestly have hardly used it. It's fine, I just am not used to it, so I don't think to use it. And I LOVE windows 10. Hated windows 8. Windows 10 really does take the best of Windows 7 and 8 and has produced a great operating system. I get so many compliments on this computer. It's sleek, lightweight and has a great battery life. The only other thing I can think of as a criticism is that the speakers do not produce much sound. I have tried to play Netflix movies for my kids, and the sound is pretty weak. Not sure why that is. Overall, I love this laptop.

Love it !
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a 2-in-1 that would run the Adobe Creative Suite -- Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, etc. The Spectre x360 does it easily. It's fast, it's light, it's powerful. Very, very pleased with it.

MacBook would've been better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 2 in 1 laptop is beautiful and stylish. Boots up quick and runs fast. The only problems I've ran into is this laptop is all metal and super slim that it tends to overheat when doing heavy work. The fans get extremely loud but doesn't seem to be cooling down the laptop. Another issue is the speakers at times they work fine then they sound like they're blown with a lot of interference. I wanted this laptop to replace my old MacBook with Windows 10 but I feel like I should've just purchased a new MacBook instead.

Good laptop for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is definitely one of the best laptops out there. I have owned it for several months now and I am mostly satisfied. I actually use the touchscreen and I like the feature. The computer seems to be pretty fast and the battery life is pretty good. I have three major complaints though. The speakers pop and crackle WAY too often. It's annoying. They also don't get very loud (I've updated every driver possible). There was an HP guy at the BestBuy store that was talking this laptop up and making it seem like the speakers were the best out there. The speakers on this laptop can be bested by my smartphone. Sad, considering the high price of this laptop. Secondly, the trackpad is not very well made or designed. I find myself clicking the the left and right mouse buttons several times trying to get a response. And since it is such a large pad, I find myself clicking the left mouse button thinking that I am in the right-click zone. Lastly, the computer does seem to heat up rather quickly when watching YouTube videos or any kind of media for that matter. Pros: Sturdy, looks and feels great, performs well, screen looks good, easy to use, slim, lightweight, good battery, touchscreen is a must Cons: The speakers pop and crackle, speakers are too quiet, heats up too quickly, trackpad isn't very responsive. Maybe not worth the sticker price but definitely worth $1100 for the model I got.

Amazing Windows laptop - Rivals Apple Experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a signature edition laptop which was codesigned by HP and Microsoft. It has no bloatware and comes with Windows defender for protection against malware/viruses. Windows 10 Home with 8GB RAM and 512GB PCI-e solid state flash storage means FAST. Fast to boot, fast to open programs, fast to do just about anything. Add the Intel i7 processor and this is a powerhouse machine that is basically the same formfactor as the Macbook Air 13" computer. Windows 10 and Office 2013/2016 has been amazing to use on this device. Battery life is a solid 8 hours with average business use, taking to meetings, etc. Sure there are less expensive laptops but if you're looking for an ideal Windows 10 experience with touchscreen at a very good price point I would say this is the machine you want. There will be an update to this line early november 2015 with Bang and Olfusen speakers, that would be a nice touch as I am sure it will improve the decent sound to a much more pleasing sonic experience. I highly recommend this laptop/tablet convertible computer.

very nice laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would give the laptop five stars except for the poor initial Windows 10 drivers. The original drivers didn't maintain a wifi connection. I will admit that the HP online help was probably the best I have encountered. Within 10 days of Windows 10's release new drivers had been released. While still not 100% perfect. Wifi does work. Overall very fast boot and speed. Computer runs a bit hot when under load. I put a book under it when using on my lap. I would highly recommend this laptop for anyone seeking a light weight machine. Be sure to get the solid state drive. You won't regret it.

Crashed First Night
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really want to love this computer. I love that it feels like a laptop with an attached keyboard, but I can still 'tent' it, fold it, etc. I love the keyboard feel and the touch-screen. Unfortunately, the one I purchased from my local Best Buy store was having issues... mainly that the desktop wouldn't display images as the desktop background - among other minor problems. I thought it may have just been me learning Windows 10 even though I'm fairly computer-literate; but I was very sadly vindicated when the computer crashed on the first night - one of the later screen shots from the crash is in the photo. I tried to restart and it was having difficulty doing that as well. I finally just reset the PC to factory settings - photo. Unfortunately it didn't correct the desktop image issue, so I returned it to the store the next day. One of the salespersons I talked to said they have had a number of returns for this product for the same reasons - crashes and not displaying images as a desktop background. Maybe this specific store received a defective/bad batch? The store replaced it with a second one, and this one will not display an image as a background either - just a black screen. So it will unfortunately be going back as well, and I will go back to researching other 2-in-1s.

wonderful laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My last laptop was a HUGE Dell 17" XPS series I purchased in 2008. But I absolutely hated Win8 that is on my son's desktop, so I was waiting for Win10 before I purchased a new laptop. I knew I wanted something very portable and light. I researched various models for several weeks and had this and a Dell on my short list. I really like this laptop. It is every bit as thin and light as the MacBook Air my wife uses. I haven't used it for long periods of time yet, so I can't speak much to the battery life. Windows 10, so far, has run very smoothly on it. It took me a little while to learn the touch pad features, but I am finding the gestures to be very helpful. I was concerned at first that this laptop didn't have a wired Ethernet port on it, but it's WiFi performance on my home network has been excellent. I don't think I will need to but a USB 3 Ethernet adapter. Two very minor complaints I have are that the F5 backlight key comes default to always on, and it is VERY bright. Fortunately, there is now a tweak in the BIOS where you can switch it to off. The other is that there does not appear to be a drive activity light. I like being able to see if the PC is busy doing something, but I can live without it. It has only been about two weeks, but so far I am very happy with this laptop.

So far, so very good!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The build feels sturdy and sleek, and it's quite lightweight and easy to move around. I've been using it steadily for a few weeks now and I can say it's a fast laptop (I've noticed no lag whatsoever while simultaneously browsing, watching movies and using other software), has a quick response time and boots quickly as well. I compared this to a Dell laptop (similar specs but with a 1TB hard drive), they both have pros and cons but what tipped the scale the most was the touchpad. The Dell's touchpad was annoyingly rough (while the HP's silky smooth), and I just couldn't deal with that! I've noticed a few cons, but I can live with them: 1. The speakers are not really loud. 2. When using Google chrome, headphones don't work sometimes...with headphones plugged in, sound comes through the laptop speakers. When I use Microsoft Edge (a browser that comes with the laptop) instead of Google, this issue disappears and everything plays fine. 3. The laptop does get very warm sometimes, underneath, around the vent. This occurs rarely, is not as hot as I read in some reviews (egg-frying hot, lol), and doesn't stay hot for too long. Almost forgot...the laptop looks very good too!

Solid general purpose Ultrabook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great Ultrabook - long battery life, bright display, fast, light weight, fantastic keyboard, Bluetooth 4 plus 802.11AC. If you're looking to surf, get email. work on presentations or documents or just play around, this is your laptop. Look no further. To be clear, though, this is NOT a gaming rig nor would you want to use it for video conversions. The Intel graphics and dual-core processor are just not up to the task. On the other hand, I develop using Visual Studio on this machine and have found it to be the excellent mobile dev platform. Even with SQL Server installed and running, it is fast and gets the job done. So, if you are not into gaming or being a film auteur, this Ultrabook should be near the top of your purchase list, if not the top.

Laptop is nice, but not impressed with Office 365.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Slim and light for a laptop. Like the flexibility but haven't had a chance to use it as a tablet yet. Touchscreen is responsive. I find that the display has a lot of glare. With Windows 10 it was hard to set display up correctly. Works well with an HP2511x monitor. SSD is very fast! Bought Office 365 with it and so far am very disappointed with it. Office 2010 was a lot friendlier and better display layout and graphics. I would recommend the laptop but not the software.
