However I was not able to recover the data once I recovered it from the hard drive. I don't think this has anything to do with the Insignia. I can see everything that was transferred I'm just not able to access it.

Retired the laptop and am able to use the hard drive as a portable drive now. It seems a little touchy when you move it, unfortunately, so once I get it plugged in I try not to bump it.

After the initial retrieval of the hard drive, the adapter works as stated. My only complaint is that the hard drive did not fit into the hard case provided.
