    Since I renewed my old 2008 MacBook by removing the 160 HD and replaced it with a SanDisk 480 ssd. This works fine as a back up hard drive. Awesome!

    I used this as part of an SSD install to clone the old hard drive then as a local file repository (pictures, videos, old files), no surprises: works flawlessly and the USB 3 interface is light years faster than the USB 2 (I did some unofficial tests and it shocked me how much of a bottleneck the usb 2 really is). You can pay more for other devices to put a 2.5" drive into, but I'm not sure you would see a performance increase. This is a good value.
