I though I was buying a decent hard drive enclosure but what I received failed to live up to my expectations. The connection cable seemed loose in usb ports (tried in many) and caused a loss of connection if slightly bumped. The connection directly into the unit was no better and wiggles quite a bit with little effort. I was especially disappointed by this as the cable was thick and looked like it was a premium cable. I also had problems with heat. The unit does not seem to be able to assist the drive in dissipating heat and heat actually became a problem during heavy usage. I would like to see the enclosure vent more heat from the drive. Overall I would not recommend this product and would return it if I could (past return period).

It would be nice if enclosure included a power button. If you need an enclosure ASAP then buy this, otherwise there are cheaper versions available online from other manufacturers.

It does seem to be a BIT more effort then should be called for, but for the lower price point I don't think you can go wrong.

Works well after replacement. Great for replacing your old portable hard drive if it doesn't power up or start up after connecting to your laptop.

I would have been more impressed if the enclosure was aluminum which would help the drive dissipate heat better than the plastic does. The biggest complaint is the USB connector itself. The connector is flimsy and just in a few plug/unplug cycles I could feel it flex on the pcb. I don't expect it would last for 100 cycles. It was too flimsy to leave attached all the time, I feared that it would be easily damaged if something were to strike the connector or if any undue pressure was placed on it in handling or transport. I returned the item to Best Buy.

Tried reformatting and using as directed with no luck. Returned and bought an external drive.

ATA Hard Drive Enclosure cannot connect to SSD
