    Great little enclosure

Bought this to go with my new SSD and couldn't be happier. The 3.0 USB is far superior to the old 2.0 mini USB. probably could find a similar case elsewhere cheaper, but I was in a pinch.

I use this device to store a bootable external hard drive for my Mac. It works perfectly, and was so easy to set up for someone who doesn't deal with hardware too often, like me.

Novice user. Hooked up and started to remove my files from my old laptop that no longer booted up. Entire process took less than 5 minutes. I was able to save all my photos!!!

    Good HD Enclosure, good performance

Easy to set up and run, no hardware "installation" required with Windows 10. Eject Drive takes longer than with standard USB hard drives, but works eventually. Lower priced units are available, including tool-free designs.

My laptop died and I thought I lost all my files. With this enclosure I was able to put my laptop hard drive in here and retrieve all my files. It worked great!

    Very nice enclosure

It's a good enclosure. Nice blue led light that shows when a hard drive is working and is on constantly. It's easy to unscrew the case and to attach hard drive. I put my old 500gb 5400rpm 2.5" into it and it's working great, no issues at all. Just when you unscrew the top part and the bottom part, everything comes out including the board with SATA connector, so be careful and do not panic since it is made that way. Once you attach your HD screw everything back and it should work just fine. USB 2.0 / 3.0 compatible.

Started off great, but failed quickly

The product seemed durable enough, and I liked it, but unfortunately the connector on the enclosure or the cable is or has gone bad because I am constantly wiggling it to get it to connect and become visible on the computer. Unless I got a bad one, this is not good and I won't be purchasing it again.

Went to buy just an adapter cable for the original hard drive from my laptop since I installed a solid state drive. Geek Squad showed me one then recommended this one. Couple dollars more and comes with a case! Just install your hard drive and plug in the cable. Works great and is protected.

Great way to ruin your disk

    Posted .

These things are garbage. The drive connects to the front plate and is not held securely in place by screws or anything else. As a result, the drive is loose and flops around inside the enclosure, making it incredibly easy to damage the platters simply by picking the thing up. Don't waste your money on this.

Bought it to use with my broken Laptop's hard drive. I took it home, tried to install it but it didn't fit. I still use the connector though, just not the case. I don't know if it was just me or others had this problem.

    stopped connecting after 5 days

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this because I had a best buy giftcard and this is the ONLY enclosure they sell in store. Do not do what I did and buy this. So this drive enclosure worked great for the first few days after putting a 2.5" HDD inside. 5 days after, it refuses to connect. 30$ to pay for a non working enclosure is not something you should do. This one is getting returned. How this gets near perfect reviews from others is a mystery to me... unless a review is written as soon as they get it , then it fails a few days later and they forget to update the review...

Only SATA II supported not SATA III = slow

While it worked for me to clone a couple of drives to upgrade to SSD's, it was very SLOW. It uses a very cheap Innoster IS621 USB to SATA Bridge IC that only supports SATA II.

Great device. I use as an external SSD to run macOS instead of the mechanical dire that's built in. It's so much faster
