The cassette adapter works great. It sounds good in my car and better than previous adapters I’ve had. The only problem is you can’t turn your volume all the way up on your phone. Maybe it’s just me or my car but my phone can only be halfway up on the volume before the sound is off. It’s just a minor problem, but can be fixed by just turning the car radio up more. Otherwise great product. Would recommend.

It does what it's supposed to do but the speaker wire is very thin. There is a space consideration but even a few millimeters would contribute to the longevity of the device.
All-in-all, the price is right and of course Best Buy is a great resource.
I use it so I can hear music from my phone, as well as, to hear my GPS give me wrong directions.

Purchased a few dollars cheaper as an open box item to replace a another cassette adapter that had stopped working.
The chord is super long, so when my kids want to manage the playlist it doesn’t pull on the unit, so that’s an improvement over the other 2 we’ve used in the last 10 years.
I prefer a chorded version over bluetooth, it’s usually has better sound quality…..just our experience.
We’re keeping our old school factory unit in our 4runner, so this works great so far.

Silverado has a wonderful sound system that has cd and cassettes playing ability. Looked for a solution to play Apple catalog in her and this is the perfect solution. Love it! Clarity is exquisite.

This has actually worked better than expected. I read some of the other reviews and it sounds like there has been some issues with the sound quality and the tape getting stuck and wanting to reverse or eject, and other random issues. For me the sound quality is actually very good. My only complaint is that I can hear this tape make noise inside my cassette player all the time so unless I turn up my music loud enough to mask it, I keep hearing this noise in the background. otherwise so far it has held up well.

I didn't think that they still made these things giving today's technology. Then I saw it while browsing in a Bestbuy store. I have an older car that doesn't have bluetooth or an auxiliary input for that matter. This will allow you to hook up your phone to listen to your tunes via the cassette deck. It sounds great. At first I was having popping sounds coming from the speakers but you'll just have to turn down the volume on your phone. After adjusting the volume on the phone and radio deck it sounds just as good as if you were streaming via bluetooth or auxiliary. Overall good buy and good price. Would recommend.

Got this as a backup to the Alurateck Bluetooth tape deck adapter (both of which are for my vehicle); requires no standalone battery power on its own, so it’s great for if I forget to charge my Bluetooth adapter or it unexpectedly runs out of battery. Combining this with the Apple 3.5mm to lightning dongle makes it the perfect companion for any iPhone (gen 7 forward) and an older car stereo.
Only problem (why 4 stars and not 5) is that, having gone through a fair number of tape deck adapters over the last several years, it’s just a matter of time before it wears out and needs to be replaced. However, that requires hours of daily use over 6 months to a year. At $10 and doing it’s job, it’s a fair trade-off.

So i had one of these back in the day for my first car, which was a '91 Buick Regal and it CHANGED MY LIFE. I was the first person in high school (circa 2006) to have iPod compatibility in my car. It worked perfectly, and I still hold a fond place for it in my heart to this day.
Now onto this bad boy. I had to go on a long trip recently in an old van, and said van did not have an aux input or Bluetooth, but totally had a tape player. SCORE! No mixed CDs or scanning the radio or bringing a Bluetooth speaker!
This thing works. It's not going to blow you away sonically, but it's not supposed to do that. It's supposed to allow you to plug in some type of device with a headphone jack into another device that has a tape player and functioning speakers. AND IT DID THAT. IT DID IT TO THE MAX. By this, I mean that for the hours I used it, it worked well and I didn't notice any super appreciable loss of audio quality.
So should you get one? Here are some basic questions to ask yourself:
- Do I have an old car with a tape player?
- If so, does that tape player work?
- Do I have some sort of device with a headphone jack that can play music?
- Is it some sort of mp3 player or smart phone/tablet?
- Does it have a CD player?
- If so, do I REALLY want to carry around a 10 lb case of mixed CDs?
- If you answered yes to one or more of these questions (preferably in a top-down order), then I would recommend getting this. It's seriously a no-brainer.

Yes, you can here the tape clicking if you don't set the volume correctly or if there is no music playing but if you use it correctly, set the phone's volume lower and the car's volume higher, it sounds great. Shut the thing off or take it out if you want silence. Simple to use, unpackage it and stick it in the tape slot, plug it in to your headphone jack, and you're done. It's easy, it's cheap, and it WORKS.

Decent Option With One Drawback

My previous tape deck adapter quit and so I picked this one up as a replacement for use in the car. This adapter delivers solid sound quality and volume for a reasonable price. Another plus is that the cable on this adapter is better insulated than the model I owned previously. With the old adapter I would get a lot of audible RF interference from my cell phone (whenever the phone contacted the cell network it would introduce loud buzzes and clicks) and that is no longer an issue. The major drawback is that this unit is producing a lot of self-noise that is quite loud in volume. That means if the volume is low or music isn't playing you'll hear a constant and obnoxious low frequency hum. So far the trade-off for me is worth it as my music or podcasts usually mask the hum and the lack of RF interference is a huge plus. This will get the job done if you still don't have an onboard aux in your car.

Purchased this Insignia cassette adapter well over a month ago.
I am very satisfied with the sound reproduction quality.
Works well every time. No skipping or side flipping ever.
Does the job very well.
Would have given it a 5 star but the previous one this one replaced had audiophile stereo quality sound reproduction that I haven't been able to find in any brand. So there is room for improvement, but so far this is the best at a reasonable price.

My '03 Monte Carlo unfortunately does not include Bluetooth capability as most newer car models. Instead of replacing my audio system, the Insignia Cassette Adapter is a great option. The price I would say is fair considering what the product provides. I can play songs from my phone. Regarding the sound, I have no complaints. The music or phone calls come through crisp and clear through my speakers.

I am using my van to make 300K, but don't plan to update the stereo, so this adapter has worked great. I tried a couple of other adapters, but the sound quality lacked. No disappointment with Insignia.

Got this to connect my phone to my car speakers, as I have an older car w/no bluetooth. Enables using car speakers for phone calls and phone apps, including Pandora, iTunes, etc. Only problem is that sometimes it starts to make a staticky or humming sound. Sometimes noise will stop if you wiggle the wire or hold it at a certain angle. Not sure if that's due to the angle itself, or to added grounding of holding the wire, but either way it's irritating. Noise will come and go, but doesn't start until driving for awhile. Maybe the wire is not well insulated? In any case, still well worth it to be able to connect my phone to my older car, as there aren't many other ways to do that. Possibly FM transmitter? All in all I use this product every day, and feel it was worth buying given that I haven't found a better version.
