    Measure your window first

I was expecting some small thing that I could easily cart from room to room but it's actually rather large and heavy. it works incredibly well though. I have a small house (under a thousand square feet). I keep it running in the loft and it keeps my whole house perfectly cooled to whatever temp I set it at. even though it's size and weight is much more than I expected, I'm really pleased with my purchase. However, make sure you measure your window first because the sizing bar for the vent was too big for my window even on its smallest setting. I had to custom cut it to make it small enough. my only other comment would be that the set up for the window vent doesn't really sit right in the window (see photo). I ended up just closing the window as much as I could and leaving some exposed space to the screen behind it because it just plain didn't line up and sit nicely when I tried to close the window on it.

    What a relief!

This thing works amazingly well. I live on the second floor of an old Victorian and it's been like an oven in here. This air conditioner cools the room quickly and it is such a relief! The air is VERY cool. It is kinda loud, but I don't mind it. I'm just happy to be comfortable finally! It could be a pain to set up as the window part will not fit all windows. There's a 3 inch gap with mine - between my window frame and the plastic, but I have a screen so it's not a problem. But you might have to get creative to make it fit, depending on the size of your window. Overall I think it's a great air conditioner for the price.

Had my portable ac for over a year now and it keeps me cool...no issues at all...the remote control is convenient and I love how it swings up and down. Also the fan and dehumidifier function works well too. Highly recommend. Thinking about buying another for kids room.

Perfect Air Conditioner for a loft or bedroom

We purchase this product to cool a loft space (378 square feet) that was always 10 to 15 degrees warmer than the downstairs. With no door or way to close it off the cool air just migrated right down the stairs. We installed this in about 30 minutes. It does come with a window vent kit that we had to cut to size then insert the supplied set screw to hold the length in place. We use some wide painters tape to seal the small gap between window and vent kit. The temperature was 81 degrees when we turn it on and within about 120 minutes the temp was down to 73. It has a temperature setting that will cycle the compressor on and off to hold the temperature you set. The unit is very quiet on low and even on high it is tolerable. The cooling vent can be set to move up and down automatically to help move the cooled air around. A very nice feature. So far this unit has exceeded expectations and we are hoping that it will last for many hot season's to come.

My master bedroom is the hottest room in the house during the summer. It’s been like this for years and it’s all due to the ducting in my house. For years I complain about the heat and not sleeping good at night. This year I decided to get me a portable AC unit. I bought one from QVC which was a lot bigger more expensive, louder and broken parts. Once I realized that one was not going to work for me I boxed it up did my return slip and went to Best Buy to look for something local. This was the only one they had in stock and that was on sale. Brought it home set up is pretty Easy. Yes it is s little loud but I’m use to it and it cools my room so well. I sleep so much better and the noise is my new sound machine. Worth every penny!!

Use this in a large open space with high ceilings and little insulation. Our three season room. Even with the recent heatwave this unit was able to keep the space comfortable.

Only cools 9° cooler then outside temperature! So if it's in the triple digits your space will be unbearable and inside where it should be nice and cool it will be in the 90's!!!!! Do not buy this unit. It also needs a condensation hose if you live in a high humid area. It did not come with the hose!! Really! I had to buy one at Home Depot for $7.00!! Redic!! Used wet towels to keep exhaust hose cool as it adds additional heat to living space!! If you zoom in close you will see I used less then 6 inches of tubing from a 20 foot spool. Insignia couldn't supply this???? Terrible business sense! I wish I had purchased a window unit. Watch the YouTube videos. Then pass go!!!!!

Used for 3 nights now. Used to supplementary cool a master bedroom. I was able to set the whole house to 78 (instead of the normal 76) and use this air conditioner in the bedroom. Set to the lowest setting (60 degrees) its actually too cold! It works really great in our application, the bedroom is approximately 14x15 with vaulted ceiling and a connected bathroom. Even with the bedroom door cracked open and the bathroom door open, this unit has been cooling the bedroom just fine. The installation was EASY, however, for my 20" small bedroom window, i did have to cut the plastic insert that goes in the window channel. That operation was simple with tin snips and you could probably accomplish with a sharp pair of scissors. Now for a couple of down sides, the plastic insert for the exhaust out the window is CHEAP; it works but provides no gasket or sealing mechanism to the window..I had to put a strip of foam underneath to raise the insert above my bottom window rail so the exhaust nozzle would clear, not a big deal but It did require me to have something on hand in the garage to complete the installation. The remote is great but does not have a room temperature read out like my last cheap window A/C unit had..Also no drain line included for the condensate drip, however, after running all night in Florida there is hardly any water in the unit, i don't know where it all goes. I guess it periodically blows it down the exhaust. Another note, i was able to leave my screen installed in the window which will keep the lizards and bugs out!! This is an excellent byproduct of having this type of unit over a window unit. Although, another issue i realized, how am I going to keep rain water from blowing into the exhaust from the out side?? I supposed I will have to either run the unit during a rain storm or take the exhaust out of the window, which would only take 30 seconds... Overall : Excellent unit with some fancy features such as self moving louvers. Easy install and operation. It is quieter than our Frigidaire window unit. Cools effectively (not sure about efficiency yet). Cheap , but easy to use exhaust window mount. I would buy again and recommend.

    Great Priced Portable AC

If you need a portable AC this unit is fairly decent for the price. Pros: highly portable, easy setup, Cons: loud (to be expected from these types of units), there is no regulator...meaning when you run it consistently and the room is cool it will not rest like a wall mounted unit does... the motor will keep going which isn't bad if you are just using it at night but I am assuming that constant use would be trying on the unit and reduce the life of it.... If you can not use a wall/window unit and need a portable unit I would recommend this one.

I have been impressed with this unit so far. It quickly cools my large bedroom and the coolness spills out into the hallway. It's neat how when you turn it on the fan blades open up. It's not quiet but it's a portable a/c unit.. I bought it to make my room cool. It has 1 hose that goes to the window and the plastic pieces that come with it are fairly long. Almost long enough to fit my tall oversized window. Set up was really easy. I like having a remote so I can set a timer or turn it off without going over to the unit. Overall I'm happy with this purchase, and the price is a good, a lot less expensive than other models. I recommend this one.

The unit is quite large, aesthetically pleasing and not very loud. Like most portables it has the very outdated, wire spiral, plastic covered, collapsible hose. There is a collection reservoir that needs to be drained regularly or a tube connected and run out the window for automatic drain. It has many features, however automatic temp control is not one of them, only a timer. It will continue to run even if it hits the desired temp. This portable AC unit has been discontinued from the manufacturer.

Upon moving to western Washington, we were surprised to find that our relatively new townhome wasn't air conditioned. Due to the side opening windows, a portable was our only choice. This unit met our needs, overall. I only gave 4 stars because the square footage rating was a little optimistic (we wound up purchasing a second unit and have since been cool and comfortable.) The unit is easy to use. On hot days (low to mid 80's) it can cool each room in just a few minutes. We've been using them for 3 months and have yet to empty the water reservoir (we only run them when we're sleeping, your results may vary.) Further; when we went to purchase the second unit, the price had reduced. We contacted customer service and, since the unit was still within the return period, the credited us the difference in price.

The ac is easily moved around. The set up was fairly simple. It comes with a window kit but with the extension piece it wouldn’t fit in my window and needed to be trimmed. I haven’t gotten that far yet and taped cardboard to the open hole. Classy, I know. This little ac pumps out cold air!! I’m impressed.

When you don't pay full price these are pretty good units, we have two. My gripes are that the default mode when plugging in is not AC/cool mode, it defaults to dry/dehumidifier mode and thats not cool when you get a little power outage or whatever, and I'm really docking them on this one because the directions even say that the default mode is cool but both our units default to dry. I suspect maybe thats why the sale was so good, they maybe knew a batch of them were messed up but I can't prove it, and they know the odds are in their favor that I am not going to expend the effort to bring them back. You win this time, insignia. The timer feature is nice but I wish it could also run a light schedule. They are pretty darn noisy, not super efficient, but they do cool down our little house and its easier than dealing with window units.
