Unboxing: This was not very intuitive. There was the main dock and vacuum in the box. There was a getting started guide however it just told you to plug in the main dock and turn on the vacuum. Then download the app and pair it. There were a lot of steps missing. I had to look up the full manual which there was no easy way inside the box to find. There were several steps. Including removing plastic, installing a roller and loading water for the mopping function.
Use: I liked that this replaced the latest iRobot vacuum only with now the capacity of mopping. Once fully setup I was prompted with a firmware update. The update left the unit down for over 20 min. After turning it off then on a few times. I finally got the unit ready to run it’s first job. Luckily, I had the house mapped from the other unit, so this was just start and go. I picked vacuum/mop as my job. It went to what seemed like my rugs in the house then started working its way back and forth on floor from there. While I did not watch it the whole time it appeared to vacuum well, and you could see the mop come out and the floor lightly wet which it would be if I mopped any other way. It dried in minutes. When the job was complete the floor appeared to be clean. After several other jobs through the week. I felt like it was the best version of an automated vacuum I had ever used. I still think the obstacle avoidance could be better. In a busy house we sometimes have shoes where they should not be, or a chair pulled out from the dining table. The new camera feature did display a few items which were cool since I could say if the item was temporarily there, permanently or it was a false positive. Also, you can choose if you want that data to help other users in the community which is nice for the intelligence of the product but if there is something private you can select no. I think this does a good job but still the vacuum jobs are long and it still grabs charging cables in my master bedroom. Also still somehow leaves hair from the dogs in certain areas. I just feel like you can be picky for the price point. If this was about $500 cheaper then I would have lowered my expectations. Finally, you can adjust how hard it vacuums, if you want multiple passes and if you want it to dry the mop pad later.
Summary:
Like I said this is the best automatic vacuum/mop I have used to date, and the camera feature helps me teach it to be better in the future. I do feel like the firmware is still being worked out since the initial one failed and one other job left the dock and just stopped about 2 feet later. I had to turn it off and on. Then redock it. Things like that start to take away from the experience. Definitely a buy if you have the money in your budget or do not want to have to vacuum your floors. Great for mixed flooring of tile, LVT and carpet.

I currently have the J5 Roomba, just a size and weight comparison, the 10 Max is aprx. 25% bigger and maybe 5 lbs. heavier.
The reason I chose the Roomba 10 combo, is because it says it can identify the difference between carpet and hardwood when mopping.
First yhe packaging. I'm really big on how an item comes delivered, and aside from some plastic bags containing the vacuum and another item everything else was well packed in heavy cardboard. No issues with broken or dented parts.
Setting up the vacuum was straightforward as everything, ie. waste Bag, filter was already in place. The water receptacles do need to be clasped shut and the sticker connecting them should be removed. There are individual bins for clean and dirty water. I put in the mop cleaning roller that's packaged separately, into the bottom of the unit and it was ready to go.
Because I already have a Roomba that was using the app, adding a second one was no problem as they work independently. Otherwise it's best to download it from the app store. After turning it on, it does need to be wi-fi connected (I assume) although I didn't look at an alternative method. Like what if you're the .0001% person who doesn't have service? So I can't tell you if it'll work that way or not, but there are buttons on top for manual use.
Back to the app, I set the iRobot to map my home, my square footage is aprx. 1200’. It took about an hour to do so, And came up with 700 s.f. the only place it couldn't get to was the bathroom. Shortly after recharging again I set it to vacuuming. I have to say for a smart robot, it is pretty dumb LOL. It would repeatedly bump into an obstacle, go to another spot and come back to bump the same obstacle again. There were times it would sit in the same spot, not being blocked or anything almost like it was wondering where to go next. A couple of times it spun around multiple time on its axis without advancing. It is kind of fun to watch.
All that said. The suction does not appear to be much more than the J5 and I noticed that because the brush is only on one side, it can send debris over to an area that's already been cleaned which means it gets left behind. It does very well on dirty spots, it will go back and forth until the sensors detect that it's been cleaned.
I have area rugs and hardwood in the living areas, the rugs are practically spotless when finished, but again the brushes tend to move particles around on the hardwood. It's not a lot but it does happen.
The next day I sent it out to vacuum And mop. Oh I forgot to mention it does label each room…this part is pretty smart, it recognized my home office and the kitchen and labeled both. The living/dining was lumped as just livingroom. So when it vacuumed it did a straight line, sort of, from the rug then hardwood and to the next rug. When it mopped, it vacuumed both rugs first and then vacuumed/mopped the floors which I thought was very intuitive.
I'm sure I'll find other things about the vacuum that I've not come across yet and I'll send it out again to re-map my home in the hopes that it will find additional areas.
Even though it bumps into things all the time and it's kind of loud when cleaning and it takes about 3 times longer than I do, it gets the job done and does it in places I forget like under the bed and chairs, the best part is it saves time because I'm not doing it!

It follows the same formula as previous Roombas that both vacuums and mops, but improves on it by making it easier and more convenient. The first thing to notice is that the dock is now larger. This is because it contains the paper dust bag, as well as two water tanks: one for clean water, and one for used, dirty water. Once you send the Roomba out on a job, it monitors its own status, including the dust/dirt level in the tank, as well as clean and dirty water levels, and the battery charge. When any one of them is getting problematic, it will return to the base, charge the battery, empty the dust bin, fill up the clean water, and empty the dirty water, and all of this is automatic. When you first start it up it will begin by mapping the area, and the app will also let you schedule jobs, add “keep out” regions, and change various settings. The front-mounted camera also means that it is supposed to detect obstacles (like pet waste) that you don’t want to get smeared all over the floor. It can also show you a picture of any obstacles that it found so that you can identify them, making future runs easier. And, like previous Roomba models, most of the wearable parts can be easily replaced, including all brushes, rollers, and even the drive motors. Speaking of rollers, there is even a roller that attaches to the base which apparently is used to clean off the bottom of the robot as it docks.
This device is great, but not perfect. One thing to keep in mind is that this robot is not very heavy, which means that it can’t really “scrub” a dirty spot with the mop, since it doesn’t have much weight behind it. This is just physics, and no robot this size can really scrub. There is a “smart scrub” feature that will do a better job of mopping, but it does this by going over an area several times, and makes the job take MUCH longer. One area that could be improved is the documentation. When starting up the unit for the first time, the app says to wait for the swirling blue light on top to stop moving. Wrong. The swirling blue light apparently means that it is ready. After waiting 30 minutes for the lights to stop (supposed to be done in two minutes), I just continued on and the robot connected to my WiFi easily, and setup continued. The other thing is the usage of the water tanks. The paper manual barely even mentioned the tanks, and some digging in the app shows that the clear tank is for clean water, and the black tank is for waste water. Can you use mopping or cleaning solution with this machine? Who knows? The documentation is not clear. But out of an abundance of caution I don’t intend to use any cleaning solution and will just stick to plain water unless I can find some official guidance from iRobot claiming otherwise.
But other than some minor documentation hiccups, this robot works great, and I recommend it. But the parts that collect the dirt do wear out, so I STRONGLY recommend getting spare rollers and a spare side brush to keep on hand for a quick replacement.

I've owned a couple of different robot cleaners throughout the years from different brands and each and every one had it's plus and minus. I've used the older irobot mop and vacuum and really liked it as well. But using this new Roomba 10 Max is a huge jump in technology and cleaning ability. I've also been to friends homes that uses different brands and, imo, I prefer the look and size of the Roomba. Unboxing the Roomba the first thing you notice that it is hefty and everything feels like it's quality made. Nothing cheap and flimsy. Besides the vacuum and base, inside the box has a quick start guide and extra dust bag, filter, mop head and cleaning brush. I appreciate this because I know I won't have to purchase anything to keep the vacuum running, at least for awhile. As for the quick start guide, it is very short so you should scan the qr code to download the full owners manual to help set up the vacuum. It is a lot more detailed. Once you get everything into place, download the Irobot app and, with the vacuum on, the app should be able to find the vacuum. It was very easy but did take a bit going through the process and the updates. First thing you will have to do after finishing with the app is to let the vacuum map your house. This takes a bit of time, but from what I remember, the Combo 10 did it much faster than my older one. Watching it, I feel that this unit is much stronger. The app is very detailed with so many functions that I won't bore you with it all. What is important, imo, is how does it mop. For me, the kitchen was the most important room. I cook a lot and make quite a mess LOL. So the floors in that room can be dirty and sticky. I set up the vacuum to mop every other day and it does a great job. That brings me to a little complaint. The water tanks is a bit small so I have to keep a mindful eye on when to dump the gray water tank and fill the fresh water tank. The app will tell you this too btw. But, with that though is a more compact unit. A friend has a different model that is much larger and imo, stands out more in the room. I like how compact the Irobot is and can be less noticeable. This unit also can clean and dry the mop head and does a pretty good job at it. But, every once in awhile, you will still need to throw it in the washing machine or wash it by hand to make sure it's truly clean. All in all, this vacuum does a great job cleaning any room. I'm really happy with this unit as it is a huge upgrade to the older Roomba.

Upgrading from a previous roomba that didn't have mopping abilities is a game changer.
This combo 10 model functions just as good as its predecessors but with both a mopping feature and an autowash bay, making this one heck of a robot vacuum.
The unit was unpacked, setup and mapping our floors in about 15 minutes, the initial mapping took some time to complete but once done it managed to detect everything pretty accuratly. I already had the iRobot app installed on my phone so I only needed to scan the barcode to get this one setup quickly.
The unit has a base station that helps give this roobma some nice features,
it contains a refilling bin for clean water(cleaning solution) that retains approximately 7 days worth
of liquid refills for the vacuum, and then a bag for the vacuum waste that boasts a 60 day emptying cycle, it also has a bin to empty the dirty water from the cleaning bay, making the whole automation that much simpler.
pros:
Mopping feature + smartscrub option /
AutoWash Dock (washes & dries the mop pad)
Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant compatible
Zone setup (vacuum/mop only specific areas that you define)
Dirt Detective, prioritizes dirtiest rooms automatically
Mop Auto lifts to avoid getting your carpet wet
Auto (refills/emptying/self cleaning/mop pad cleaning)
cons:
not too many, the unit is a little loud when it empties, but not really loud while it vacuums/mops. the only other thing i feel the apps' mapping features/control are a little lacking. i wish they had more of an advanced mode for fine tuning on the actual selection of areas, everything is squared and the maps rotation is locked, which can make it a little difficult to get certain areas defined; overlapping seemed to fix my problem and this is probably a personal gripe but outside of this i couldnt think of anything else i disliked or had issues with.
overall its a great combo unit, and time saver. keeping this robot running around daily helps keep up with all my animal's hair, food bits etc, and the kitchen tile floors are less work now to keep clean and looking good. I would definitely recommend this combo unit.

Worst robot in the line

So this replaced our J7, thought why not upgrade since my warranty paid for replacement the J7. Got this on the Black Friday sale and had some gift cards so wasnt out any money after adding them plus the warranty money. Thought why i could save time insead of having 2 machines clean my floors since i have a m6 and roomba just have 1 machine that does both. Worse mistake of my life thank god i didnt get ride of my Irobot M6 so it can still mop my floors. The constant errors, the smaller dust bin is tiring. It doesnt run half the time due to errors and you dont know it has a error unlike the old roomba. You have to manually check the bin to see if it’s clogged. Stay away from this roomba. Its a good concept but its a major fail. Oh and yes it does clean the mop pad just wait till you go to empty that old dirty mop water. You better have a strong stomach.

They perfected it! After years of excellent products, iRobot has perfected their technology with the iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max. We have been using robot floor cleaners for many years and this one has far surpassed my expectations! It keeps the floors in our entire 4 bedroom, 2 bath home spotless! It even has a fantastic AI called Dirt Detective that ensures that the high traffic areas in the home are cleaned more often, I absolutely love that feature! It also didn't take long at all to get everything setup and running, and the learning process went very well also. We have it setup to clean on a schedule when no one is home, but even when I have been home while it is running the noise levels have been very minimal. One of our other favorite features are the voice commands! When we have a spill, or something to clean up on demand we simply tell it to clean it and it happens! The app is also very intuitive and easy to use, and I love the fact that it gives me health statuses on the Roomba as well. Overall this is an amazing value, because it does it all and it does it all so well. We definitely would not hesitate to get this again!

Didn’t even last five months!!! Son gave this to me as a Xmas gift and it stopped being able to charge in mid May!!! Called iRobot as it is still under warranty and I am still waiting for an email to tell me what they are going to do a week later. No email no answer by phone.
Horrible customer service. No wonder they are going out of business. Have owned Roomba robots since they first came out and always had great customer service and they always sent out new products if it was under warranty right away.
The charging contacts on the dock no longer raise to meet the contacts on the robot. I told them and sent pics and was told I had to wait for another dept to review and they will contact by email. That was a week ago so I have a dead robot and they don’t care.
Will NEVER buy another Roomba!!! My son wasted $1000
