Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the Roomba s9+’s cleaning performance, mapping features, suction power, ease of use, self-emptying capabilities, and pet hair removal. However, some users note that the robot can be noisy and that its navigation system and battery life could be improved. Concerns were also raised regarding the robot's reliability and the relatively high price point. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and convenience is prominent, but potential buyers should consider the reported drawbacks.

We have owned no less than 5 of these smart vac. This is by far the absolute best one. I should have just bought this from the start. We had the other brand that starts with S that is half the price. This is so much better and after using it for a month we know why it is twice the price. Totally worth it. It really is that much better. All my wife did was complain about how much she hated the other one. It did not complete rooms like she told it to in the app. This one is a good listener and does what she says. lol

Love the Roomba, it does a really good job of cleaning (as long as we pick up any cords or large items) and the self-empty is great.

Had a Neato 7D for 3 years and was satisfied, but it needed repair and Best Buy no longer carried them, so we traded it in and purchased the s9+. Initially we read the reviews and were hesitant, but after receiving it we have been very happy. You NEED to map your home at least 3 times to get a solid layout and then name your sections. We have setup several 'scheduled' runs and all have run and finished flawlessly. We have yet to the the s9+ get stuck, where the Neato 7D would occasionally get stuck. Would recommend this unit to anyone considering one.

BUYER BEWARE: Worst Robot Vacuum I’ve Ever Owned

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When I stumbled upon this while shopping, I impulsively (and stupidly) purchased it without checking reviews first. BIG mistake. This is by far the worse robot vacuum I have ever purchased. It rarely completes a job without getting stuck on air or imaginary obstacles. At first, I chalked this up to it was still acquiring the layout of my home. The cleaning head has already been replaced through warranty roughly 3 months after I purchased it. The roller brushes have been replaced 4 times and the corner spin brush has been replaced at least 20 times. This morning it begin making the worse noise. It sounded like a helicopter was going to take off in the kitchen. I’ve called iRobot support and the video I sent is being reviewed. It is only 7 months old. The previous models I owned NEVER required this much attention. At this point, I’d rather sweep my house with a toothbrush. I’d probably finish the job quicker and with less of a headache. I have little faith that the issue will be resolved. Honestly, iRobot should scrap this entire model and start over. What I am hoping the resolution to my issue turns out to be is they take back this piece of garbage they call the s9+ and give me a comparable model that actually does what it is supposed to do.

We had the iRobot 960 and upgraded to this one. It gets in the corners more and definitely has more sucking power. And it gets all of the dog hair off the floor! I am so happy we made the switch.

    Best IRobot Roomba Series….

Best iRobot roomba series. We owned iRobot roomba with different model since 2014 and never looked back. Decided to give our old room to our daughter and jumped on in getting this. The S9+ is very powerful and does deep cleaning very well. It is under probation since I can still return this by before month end of January but the S9+ with my everyday testing since we bought it never had any issues and works really well. One thing though I wish the next iRobot roomba series will have obstacle avoidance feature. Highly recommended

I bought this as a Christmas present for my parents as they are older and my mother no longer can move easily. They live in a decent size single story home. So far, it has not yet completed a full mapping of the house and has required replacement brushes, a replacement battery, and further technical support including videos and data log transfers. Thankfully, I believe the company will be sending them a new one...but they are back ordered for over a month. Quality control is definitely lacking or else maybe we just received a lemon? I’ll admit I feel bad I got them this as a Christmas present to attempt to make their lives easier.

Still the best overall of all the units out there. Not only the self emptying feature, and the new shape that gets into corners, but it's the software itself, giving you the ability to mark off rooms in the online map and only vacuum what and where you want. Another benefit is you can find aftermarket accessories for filters, brushes, etc. Sometimes this can save cost, but I still stick to the OEM parts, they are just a bit better. By being the leader, their software and how well it works is ahead of the competition. If you want the best, this is it.

While the price point is steep, this cleaning robot and disposal bin is great. This unit does a great job mapping the floors and you can set up exclusion zones relatively easily. I have a droid phone and the app for this is terrible. Constantly crashing, so perhaps Iphones are better designed for the app. Not sure. This unit works extremely well for tile floors and hardwood. It works well for carpet, but for deep pile carpet, it takes a few charges to get a standard room done. I imagine lower pile will be better, but for pet hair (black lab), this machine is awesome.

Top of the line robot vacuum

This was an expensive purchase, but I was hoping to get my investment worth of it by using it many times a week over many years. However, it got off to a rough start, get jammed up on a thick rug in the first couple days of use, before I realized that it would not work over that thick a rug. Anyway, the brush motor stopped working and I had to exchange the product for another one. This time I would ensure it did not encounter the thick rug. Either way, a $1000 robot vacuum should not stop working after encountering such a normal type of obstacle. You would think that the motor should be rugged enough to not be phased after restarting it of the rug. I hope my new robot has a longer life expectancy. I would go as far as to say that the first robot may have been defective from the factory.

The roomba does a great job, but when it empties the bin, it is so noisy, so you cannot clean at night while asleep, it will surly wake you up. Still having problems realizing what rooms to clean, will take a while to build its brain.

Impressive when it works. However, our Roomba S9+ had problems from day one. Initially, it "thought" the bin was full, even though it was 2 hours past purchase and we had cleaned the (still clean) bin and sensors. Then it proceeded to various internal errors (e.g., internal communication failure). It mapped out two floors of the house very nicely. But: We have had it now for 12 days and, despite numerous reboots, it breaks down partway through each cleaning! Wifi is strong in our house, so that is not the explanation. Trying to get exchanged now.

This is the highest end of product and costs a pretty penny. For the value, the cleaning is good. The maps are a headache. It STILL can't figure out how to get out of the homebase. It keeps revolving in that area. Once I lift and put it in the room to clean, it does a fairly good job. And then most times, it still can't find the homebase back. Goes close enough and then keeps spinning again and I have to lift and put it back. For the money we spent on this, that search for homebase and leaving it to go to next room is making it VERY hard for me to use it regularly. Also, it is noisy, so currently wfh I can't run it during day time.

I LOVE this Roomba. I’ve never had one before and I know they continue to improve functionality, but wow. I wish I had this 10 years ago. It mapped out our first floor and then I took it upstairs and had it map our upstairs. It vacuums our upstairs every morning and then I just bring it down stairs 2-3x a week and it vacuums our main floor while I work or am gone. It’s amazing and there’s no pet hair anywhere! Plus after cooking a meal or whatever I can have it quickly clean the kitchen zone, etc. I love it!

Not worth the price. It's a fine vacuum, but as others have noted, it gets stuck if you look at it the wrong way and just stops often. Go for a cheaper vacuum, it'll work just as well.
