Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the Roomba s9+’s cleaning performance, mapping features, suction power, ease of use, self-emptying capabilities, and pet hair removal. However, some users note that the robot can be noisy and that its navigation system and battery life could be improved. Concerns were also raised regarding the robot's reliability and the relatively high price point. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and convenience is prominent, but potential buyers should consider the reported drawbacks.

    Best Roomba so far

This is my third Roomba over the last 6 years. By far the best! The prior models used to get stuck over cables or loose rugs. This model ran its daily schedule for a whole week while we were on vacation and never got stuck. I have two cats that loose a lot of hair! Hence I also love the fact that I have not to empty the bin anymore. I tried almost all other brands and returned them all.

I have mostly hard surfaces, and pets. This has been an excellent addition to my house. No it is not faster that sweeping your self, but what you can do is set it up to a schedule to sweep while you are gone. It is really nice to come home to a clean floor after a long day at work. I would recommend getting the Braava Jet as well and when your roomba is done sweeping, the Braava will mop.

After days of research I decided on the iRobot - Roomba s9 for my wife. She loves it and can’t believe how well it works in comparison to all other vacuums she owned in the past. Overall does a great job cleaning dust and cat hair off the carpet and flooring. It leaves the carpeting clean and fluffed.

I would like to start by saying that I have had many of the I robot vacuum cleaners over the years from the very early models. I was very excited when this model came out because of the automatic waste disposal aspect. The machine itself just does not clean very well. I have had it about seven months and all I’ve had is problems. It was making a loud crunching sound so they had to replace the brush head mechanism, not just the brush heads. I like the mapping feature, but I watch it go over my rug and just leave a trail of things it does not pick up. Dust bunnies little pieces of plastic etc, all sorts of things are just left behind so it doesn’t clean very well at all. I’ve actually gone after running the roomba, and used my old iRobot and that one works better but of course doesn’t have the feature of parking itself and cleaning out it’s on dust bin.

After a few "whole house" cleanings it was able to map out our whole floor plan and then following a few simple, easy to use directions I was able to divide and label each area so it will go "spot" clean an individual room by itself anytime we need or schedule a day & time to clean the whole house on a regular basis saves us a ton of time and effort lugging around a vacuum and power cord. Thank you iRobot for this wonderful product!

It's maps ok. It gets stuck on the feet of one of my chairs. My biggest complaint with it is that it doesn't work in the dark. I ran my prior bot (Neato) overnight. This was a lot nicer when working from home. The main reason we kept it was the collection bin.

Great improvement over my i7. Having 50/50 carpet and hard flooring, the Roomba s9’s carpet boost functionality worked amazing. Fits perfectly along side my Dyson v10 clean a house with 2 kids and 4 dogs. In terms of cleaning ability and ease of use, I haven’t had to pick up the Dyson as much since my purchase!

Infuriating product to own and maintain - do not recommend the vacuum or the mop both have failed performing at an acceptable level within a 2 year time frame. I should of returned as I assumed it would get more efficient with time although the opposite has occurred. It burns through parts, is constantly stuck, power cords are annihilated , it constantly jams, the lid has issues closing, to many other problems to list and I’m tech savy and good at trouble shooting. If I had a shotgun - I’d be apt to use it on this way over priced functioning impaired contraption. Advise purchasing alternative competitor - will put both mop and vacuum into the recycle bin.

After having the iRobot 900 series since 2015, I was excited to purchase the Roomba s9+ and the Braava m6 for my new home. Unfortunately right out of the box we had issues with the s9+. The vacuum would never complete a mapping run, it immediately got stock on anything with carpet (area rugs, door mats), it could only get back on it's charger 50% of the time without us having to manually put it on ourselves. I was so disappointed because my 900 series powered over the same areas without any issues! I thought this was top of the line with the increased suction, automated dirt disposal, and mapping technology but we have been more frustrated than with anything else from iRobot. I do not recommend the vacuum and as I see it's out of stock online maybe iRobot realizes the quality issues and will be releasing a better replacement.

We really enjoy the iRoomba as it does some of our work for us! However, our home is apparently larger than what the iRoomba can handle because it as had a very difficult time getting the "mapping" done. We have had to literally carry it into some of the rooms to vacuum! Also, it not able to vacuum our dense shag carpet. It seems to need to charge itself often too -- it gets very tired quickly. It was a lot of money to spend and we wonder if the cheaper one would have been just as effective....

I bought my first roomba about 7 years ago. This robot has me amazed the same as I was when I got the first one. Super high tech yet still easy to use. The app on my phone is awesome. The fact that it learns and you can send it to do clean certain rooms is great too. Robot can find its home, charge itself and empty its bag. You don’t have to do a thing!

This new iRobot with automatic dirt disposal is by far the best robot vacuum on the market. The automatic dirt disposal, while not new, is what makes this product phenomenal. One interesting note is that the robot is now shaped like Neato robot vacuums, which I think the reason might that the D shape allows the robot to get to more places than the traditional round shape. Packaging was as minimal as it could be while still protecting the robot and other components inside the box. This robot came with an additional filter, side brush, and automatic dirt disposal bag. After unboxing, I was able to easily set up the robot on my Wi-Fi. In contrast, my Neato took more than 10 attempts to simply connect to my Wi-Fi. In order to put the robot into pairing mode you need to hold the home and spot clean button. I thought I had to press hard on the buttons since I wasn’t feeling a click. Come to find out that the buttons are capacitive like a smartphone’s touch screen (whoops). In order to avoid any more mistakes on my end, I followed the instructions and I ran the robot during various times of day so that it would create a good map in various lighting conditions. iRobot is sticking to optical recognition software vs laser. This means you will not be able to properly run the Roomba at night if there are no lights on. This isn’t a deal breaker, but I have ran my Neato a handful of times at night. After running the robot four times, it completely mapped out the second floor in my home. I was able to link my I robot account to both Google home an Alexa and was able to easily ask the Roomba which I named Lucy to start cleaning, stop, pause, return home, I was then able to provide names for each room on the second floor. After providing names to the different rooms on my 2nd floor which are family room kitchen dining room bathroom and office I was then able to ask Lucy to clean specific rooms. Lucy would then go to the room, and begin cleaning. I like this feature because I don't always want Lucy to clean the entire second floor. For example, sometimes the living room gets dirtier quicker than my office and it would be a waste of time to have Lucy spend time on the entire floor when the living room is the only area that needs to be vacuumed. One issue I see is that there is no equivalent of Neato’s “no go lines”. When my Neato was on the second floor I could set up no go lines around my pet’s food and the neato would steer clear. For the Roomba I need to create a small “room” area around the pet food or use a virtual wall which is sold separately. With my neato I could easily draw “no go lines” if there was an area with cables or anything on the floor that I was too lazy to pick up that the time. For my use, I think the automatic dirt disposal makes up for having to use creative room placements or virtual walls, but others might find it annoying. Speaking of the automatic dirt disposal, this has solved the issue I've had with all 4 robot vacuums I've owned. The issue that I'm talking about is having to dump out the waste bin after every 2 or 3 runs. I know this sounds like I'm just very lazy, however when dumping the waste bin into my trash can the fine dust that the vacuum picked up would go back into the air and onto the floors. I don’t have a backyard or patio area to dump the waste bin outside so this is a serious issue for me. Now, all of the particles are contained in a vacuum bag via the automatic dirt disposal system and I don't need to worry about or deal with fine dust floating in the air after dumping the waste bin anymore. This robot vacuum is the smartest cleanest and most thorough vacuum I have had in my household. For reference, other brands of robot vacuums that I've had/have are Neato, Ecovacs, and a different Roomba robot.

We got this to keep up for our two german shepherds. We set it to clean every day and just make sure that all the pet toys and stuff are off the floor and don’t even think about it. It does get stuck every now and then. But nothing you wouldn’t expect from a robot vacuum. We have both tile and carpet and it does well on both areas. It definitely is pricey but worth the investment if you’re a pet owner
