Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the Roomba s9+’s cleaning performance, mapping features, suction power, ease of use, self-emptying capabilities, and pet hair removal. However, some users note that the robot can be noisy and that its navigation system and battery life could be improved. Concerns were also raised regarding the robot's reliability and the relatively high price point. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and convenience is prominent, but potential buyers should consider the reported drawbacks.

This new iRobot with automatic dirt disposal is by far the best robot vacuum on the market. The automatic dirt disposal, while not new, is what makes this product phenomenal. One interesting note is that the robot is now shaped like Neato robot vacuums, which I think the reason might that the D shape allows the robot to get to more places than the traditional round shape. Packaging was as minimal as it could be while still protecting the robot and other components inside the box. This robot came with an additional filter, side brush, and automatic dirt disposal bag. After unboxing, I was able to easily set up the robot on my Wi-Fi. In contrast, my Neato took more than 10 attempts to simply connect to my Wi-Fi. In order to put the robot into pairing mode you need to hold the home and spot clean button. I thought I had to press hard on the buttons since I wasn’t feeling a click. Come to find out that the buttons are capacitive like a smartphone’s touch screen (whoops). In order to avoid any more mistakes on my end, I followed the instructions and I ran the robot during various times of day so that it would create a good map in various lighting conditions. iRobot is sticking to optical recognition software vs laser. This means you will not be able to properly run the Roomba at night if there are no lights on. This isn’t a deal breaker, but I have ran my Neato a handful of times at night. After running the robot four times, it completely mapped out the second floor in my home. I was able to link my I robot account to both Google home an Alexa and was able to easily ask the Roomba which I named Lucy to start cleaning, stop, pause, return home, I was then able to provide names for each room on the second floor. After providing names to the different rooms on my 2nd floor which are family room kitchen dining room bathroom and office I was then able to ask Lucy to clean specific rooms. Lucy would then go to the room, and begin cleaning. I like this feature because I don't always want Lucy to clean the entire second floor. For example, sometimes the living room gets dirtier quicker than my office and it would be a waste of time to have Lucy spend time on the entire floor when the living room is the only area that needs to be vacuumed. One issue I see is that there is no equivalent of Neato’s “no go lines”. When my Neato was on the second floor I could set up no go lines around my pet’s food and the neato would steer clear. For the Roomba I need to create a small “room” area around the pet food or use a virtual wall which is sold separately. With my neato I could easily draw “no go lines” if there was an area with cables or anything on the floor that I was too lazy to pick up that the time. For my use, I think the automatic dirt disposal makes up for having to use creative room placements or virtual walls, but others might find it annoying. Speaking of the automatic dirt disposal, this has solved the issue I've had with all 4 robot vacuums I've owned. The issue that I'm talking about is having to dump out the waste bin after every 2 or 3 runs. I know this sounds like I'm just very lazy, however when dumping the waste bin into my trash can the fine dust that the vacuum picked up would go back into the air and onto the floors. I don’t have a backyard or patio area to dump the waste bin outside so this is a serious issue for me. Now, all of the particles are contained in a vacuum bag via the automatic dirt disposal system and I don't need to worry about or deal with fine dust floating in the air after dumping the waste bin anymore. This robot vacuum is the smartest cleanest and most thorough vacuum I have had in my household. For reference, other brands of robot vacuums that I've had/have are Neato, Ecovacs, and a different Roomba robot.

We got this to keep up for our two german shepherds. We set it to clean every day and just make sure that all the pet toys and stuff are off the floor and don’t even think about it. It does get stuck every now and then. But nothing you wouldn’t expect from a robot vacuum. We have both tile and carpet and it does well on both areas. It definitely is pricey but worth the investment if you’re a pet owner

In the beginning it was the greatest. Than update after update after update the roomba just did its own thing. Called customer service so many times and they reset it, had me take action steps, and it would work right for a minute and then boom. The little guy just does it’s own thing. Took it to geek squad and it was not fixable.

This is my first robot vacuum, so I decided to go for the top of the line. We got it because we have 2 dogs and a cat and it was getting difficult to keep up with the amount of hair that they shed. The vacuum is relatively quiet and even comes with a “quiet” mode which is good for light dust and pet hair on wooden floors. It was a hard process to get it it to “learn” the floor plan of the house. It took a few weeks of cleanings and mapping runs before it was finally complete. During that time, it would relentlessly attack the dogs water bowl and any area with cords on the ground. There’s no way to tell it to avoid those areas until the map is complete. It gets stuck under chair legs and bumps against anything in its way. It almost knocked over a planter that we have. Despite the growing pains, once you get to the point where the floor plan is created, it’s pretty easy from there since you can instruct it to avoid certain areas and schedule cleanings on a regular basis so that you can spend less time vacuuming. We use it in our two storey house with the base on the bottom floor and manually carry it to the second floor when we want it to clean upstairs. Since the base is downstairs you need to empty the dust bin manually or carry it downstairs when it’s done.

The Roomba s9+ is my first robot vacuum, so I can't compare it to previous models or other brands. However, this vacuum works great. I was hesitant at first to enter into the world of robot vacuums, but I'm glad I did some research and decided on this one. It was easy to unpack, and with the app, very easy to setup. I would recommend scheduling this to clean during a time in which you won't be using the room, as it is a little noisy (there is a quite mode, but that is for light cleaning, and still the noise can be a distraction). I have this set up in the family room to clean all the dog hair every morning at 1 am. Yes, dog hair, and yes it works wonderful (German Shepherd and Lab that shed like crazy). Although it is pretty good at navigating your room, I would recommend picking up as much items off the floor. It will suck up a shirt and drag it around for instance. They (the Roomba experts) recommend cleaning up large messes, as this isn't meant to pick up large debris. I just throw the dog beds on the couch at night, and clean up any toys or other objects before bed so the Roomba has as much free space to clean...and it helps me keep the room organized more than if I didn't have the Roomba. Lastly, it does have a love/hate relationship with some rugs/carpets. It didn't like one of my bath rugs (high pile), and got stuck on it, so I switched bathroom rugs (to a low pile) with another bathroom and it works perfectly now.

excellent robot vacuum works as advertised i would recommend this to anyone who does not want to worry about vacuuming but the mop is questionable bottom line its not as smart as the vacuum i think there needs to be a firmware update to address how dumb the mop is but vacuum is excellent takes some passes to learn house but when it does all good

We gave this a try after buying having to return two Neato D8’s You really do get what you pay for. This works much better at mapping the house it does not get lost in our home. The vacuum rubber rollers can be loud as it’s cleaning depending of the kind of floors you have. We have floating floors and it is on the loud side.

I recently purchased the iRobot Roomba S9+ as an upgrade to a Samsung robot vacuum. The difference between the two are night and day, especially since we have a dog. The S9+ does a much better job cleaning the room in a logical and predictable manner, after the training runs have been completed. The app on the phone is super easy to use - it is easy to create virtual "rooms" anywhere. For example, we split the living room into two rooms, because we want to vacuum a certain area more often where the dog plays and eats. Now, we can select just one area or both when cleaning. We also like how we have the ability to move the virtual rooms or remove them completely, if we ever want to change things. Once the rooms are set up, you can create virtual keep-out zones - for example, so the vacuum does not go under a bed or hit the dog food bowl. We also purchased the iRobot Roomba m6 robot mop. Both products work in tandem, if you choose. So, for example, you can clean a room by vacuuming and then mop the room, assuming it is not carpet. (The mops, any model, do not travel over carpet.) We have not taken the tine to pair it to our Google Home completely, because the iRobot app works so fantastically. We have also not set up an automatic schedule, because we are both working from home.

We purchased about a month ago. App was easy to install and learn, on both my and my husbands phones. Have had it programmed to run in the mornings, the noise is much like a regular vacuum. "Slurp" our S9+ proved her capabilities in our utilitarian household right away. We have concrete, tile, lots of uneven floors, rugs, loads of chairs, kids, dogs, cats, projects... and once a day, I run through and pick up all the shoes, and nerf bullets (kryptonite) and Slurp vacuums beautifully. Our home is about 1250 living space. It takes, I think about 1.5 hours to vacuum the whole house (I may be off a little). I was very concerned that it would not be able to handle the gross amount of hair and dirt we seem to have on our hard floors. And it does a great job. It has to go back to doc and evacuate frequently. It also seems to get so much dust inside the sensors need to be wiped every couple or few days. So sometimes it does through an error, like "close lid" And I have found, so far anyway, that quickly wiping/cleaning the sensors is the remedy. And I go outside and tap out the hepa filter in the garbage can every few days. I love love love it. My expectations are met on this product so far. I want one for my mom. And want a mower when they are available. Nice product line, great customer service at iRobot.

I bought several of the first versions of the Roomba. BLAH! Turned me totally against the junk-vac. Don't know why, but decided to give them another try. Sure glad I did. It's everything and a bag of chips. I like how it maps the whole house so I can send it to any room. It's really closer to a vacuum than a floor sweeper now.

I have two large dogs and this vacuum is amazing. It handles fur, is easy to clean, and works exceptionally well even when going from hardwood to a thick pile area rug. I hesitated to splurge, but could not be happier. This is the best purchase I have made in years.
